Last night I spent a little time dialing in the Brit 2203 on my HX Stomp and it sounds spectacular with my single bridge humbucker Strat. I used only 3 Blocks: Brit 2203 Amp, 4x12 Cali V30 Cab with 47 Cond FET Mic, and Double Tank Reverb. And as if by some magic, it sounds almost identical to what could be my favorite Amp on TH-cam, Euge Valovirta's "Bad Boy." He has several videos dedicated to that particular Amp, it is so good. This has become one of my favorite Amps on Helix. It responds wonderfully to both the Volume and Tone knobs. I think Line 6 may have used a new way to model the Amp, it sounds so outstanding!
Regarding the highs in the old Cabs, a High Cut to 5kHz in the Cab Block always helps in my setup. I love the Prize Drive, as it fits in an OD slot that I was having difficulty filling with other Drives. It sounded amazingly close to your actual Pedal. This 3.7 Update has delivered big time. 😎
Sounds killer, thanks for the tip.
This is my favorite, too. IMO, it responds to guitar volume control better than any other amp in Helix.
I'm loving the Line 6 High Voltage. I really like all the Line 6 originals though. I'm absolutely loving my Helix now, I have so many amps in there I'm happy with and all the effects I would ever need and then some.
Me too
I usually find that too, I raise the sag and reduce the bias a touch. But I mainly go for the Marshall sounds.Your sounds I can always feel as part of some song. And that's what it's about ! Thanks.
Wow, your Dripman preset sounds ace! Another great new amp is the Aristocrat. Ahhh, so good! Don't know if you will do a preset video with that one, but I highly recommend it. You can get such warm and crunchy tones when the amp is paired with the Teemah or Heir Apparent. Cheers!
Im subscribing. Smart talk all around, even in the comments! Thats a good sign. I got a lot to learn with my Helix.
I appreciate that very much! Ive got over 150 helix vids out there
I never got along with the Deluxe model in the Helix either. You might be right, seems like the older models are the ones I tend not to use. I don't really use the basic Plexi or 2204 either.
My bread and butter have been Litigator, Panama, and Placater. Also really liked Kinetic from the new update, and definitely going to be giving the Dripman and 2203 a whirl now.
Hey Brother. Long time no see. I’ve been off grid for a while playing and some studio work! I’m back. You rock man🎸👍🔥
Welcome back!
Instead of right-clicking and choosing "Snapshots" for each parameter, you can also alt-click any parameter and it'll do the same thing.
Or press 's'
Hot keys rule!
@@SteveSterlacci hey Steve, quick question, how would you use your helix/stomp with iems? I'm slightly struggling to tame that 'direct sound' of using in ears live.
Do you use any reverb tricks (I know some people use the tile reverb ect...), or something else? Is there a way to put an EQ just before the sound gets to my in ears so I can just equalize that, and not the FOH.
Cheers!
Great video Steve! That guitar looks amazing! Looking forward to see the show!
Currently suffering through Covid, so this might be a little delirious: I have had some fun this past week testing two different octaver pedals (a cheap one, and a good one) using my laptop, audio interface, and RTL utility (free from Oblique audio). I don't have an HX, but I would love to see someone test a preset and see what the impact on latency of adding an the HX's FX loop is. There is a really good paper called "The Effects of Latency on Live Sound Monitoring" by Lester and Bolie that really tries to break down how guitarists perceive latency, especially when using IEMs. I don't know, maybe there is a video in it? I'd love to see it!
they haven't changed those original amps, but maybe the new cabs from 3.5 make it seem that way.
Hey just thinking about selling my Benson Monarch and diving into a Helix of some sort, not sure which one maybe LT. Your channel looks like the place to be for Helix knowledge. Anyway love the shirt... "The Surf Ballroom" in Clear Lake IA? I live about 5 miles from the Surf! Cool Man! Its legendary!
That sounds fantastic. You need to keep this guitar Steve.
I love all your videos so much!
If you hold ALT and click a value or the slider it immediately enter snapshot mode no need to use the menu :)
Its always an amazing day when I learn something new on HX! Thanks for adding this
how about a video on that H90? I recently got one and it's a challenge to set up and create your own tones.
I had trouble getting the same clean volume level with the preset after changing from Matchstick to Dripman, and ended up increasing Main L/R out by about +6dB to compensate.
Whatever ya gotta do to make it work! I would get the gain where you like it on the dripman, then use the channel vol to match the other
Well it looks like my mixer has a bad preamp. Changed inputs and it was fine.

@@jeffcarricoguitar great!! I love an easy fix
The Nobles is so close I actually removed my belle from the pedalboard, and the bassman amp is the closest ive been to get tones similar to my to tone x.
Thanks I had not even looked in the bass amp section😲 This amp sounds great! How do you use the Prize drive and the Heir App? Do you stack them? That would sound like an overkill on distortion.
Man that knaggs. 😮. Amp blah blah, drive blah blah, dude that guitar has got to go back, can't take my eyes off the damned thing. If you wanted to up your minutes viewed just stick it on a rotating stand with background music and you will rack up hours and hours. Good lord I'm in love with that thingy! ❤ ❤ ❤
Thanks bro! I feel the same. I gotta figure out a way to keep! Lol
Steve, will you be using the Helix at the Peekskill Paramount Show. I have a Helix and Pod Go. Im interested in hearing the Helix in a live show. PS. The Eventide Sounds Amazing.
Hey Joe! Thanks! This board will be exactly what I'm using. Make sure you say hello!
Awesome. Thanks Steve. I will say Hello For Sure. Can't Wait for the Show!!!
PS. Wife and I just picked up a couple of Toys for the TOYS FOR TOTS at the Show.
@@joekaras7080 thats awesome! Thanks so much for that. Really looking forward to meeting you
@SteveSterlacci Looking Forward to Meeting You Too..😃
Pricedrive sounds impressively great indeed at the expense of a lot of dsp estate. Also I seem to hear more clarity in the high end of the Nordland. Something I also noted wit my Nordland pedals, especially the CS as compared to the CC+, a weird kind of 'hifi' clarity feel in the high. May also be TH-cam or my illusionary imagination. And may not be everybody's taste either. There also seemed to be a different amuont of bass in the Nordland vs the PD. The latter is easy tunable with EQ, so close enough. The high end clraity not so much. I personally decided for now to keep my Nordland CS for that reason plus the DSP usage of the PD that I rather spend in e.g. adding a Dripman pre-amp stage, which BTW has seems to have a similar effect as switching on an ODR (courtesy John Cordy).
What is your take on the Nordland clarity?
Great comment here! I totally agree that new Nobels and a lot of the copies have that weird high end thing. The 30th anniversary sounds best to me and closest to my original. They all can do the job for sure, but something about that original is just magic...
Also, theres a guy "thrutone fx" that does a nordland mod to make it sound like the OG
Tested it today. The cab is way too dark sounding for my taste. The mic positions are weird.
The new Bassman doesn't have a lot of headroom but sounds very good.
With this new Prize drive pedal it sounds perfect!
Btw: the bassman is very low in volume. I had to raise the channel volume on 10 and +8dB in the output block!
I dial the presets in to work live through a PA so its normal to seem dark at first
😎🤘
I try to tell ppl about monitoring and sound on stage vs in the crowd etc
It’s really tricky
Better get a lot of tube amp so the crowd can hear it 😝
The sound system that reproduces the “tube” amp guitar sound doesn’t have tubes and it’s been picked up by a microphone and ran thru a board before for out to power/speakers
No one but you hears your tube amp
Sorry rant over
Great video as usual
Please let me know about pickups ❤ Which Bare Knuckle model do U use ?
This has Mules!
How do you get the same volume output to the front of house between different snap shots! Usually playing dirty, on a few song play acoustic , and a few with clean . Is their a way to have same out out for all or not?
Can you please shoot out the Eventide H90 with the effects in the Helix?
Are you using Helix native?
Just in case I’m feelin’ swirly
Meh. The feedback effect is cool but uses so much DSP that it’s practically unusable on the HX Stomp. The Marshall amps do sound good but not enough to justify the purchase price for someone just getting into the game.
What?
If I was a kid the hx stomp is the go to
For sale, drive pedal, no longer needed, will trade for dog treats.
Jesus Christ those guitars are expensive.
Yeah it's a bit ridiculous.
All the new tech is interesting but ultimately "hair splitting time wasters".
Yes
