Plaxton Heritage Rally at the KLR 2018

  • A dozen or so coaches turned up at the Kirklees Light Railway in Clayton West, West Yorkshire on 20 October 2018 for a gathering of Plaxton bodied coaches. Leyland, Bristol, AEC & Bedford were some of the examples on show.

    Great video, memories of what I used to drive at the start of my career. The first Plaxton I used to drive was a 1979 AEC Reliance Supreme.

    I can see these Buses being re stored some where. Looking @ this bring me memories when I travelled on em
    the Duple & the Plaxton & the Mosney

    Buses nowadays will never look as beautiful as the ones made in England in the 60s.

      @@classicr777 Theres a Leyland Olympic thats still intact being used as a hostel bus .Its a 1969 E.R.L44 model built for the Jamaica Omnibus Service , this bus is in good condition although being parked for 36 yrs.Im trying to get Kingston Custom Garage to restore it but cant get on to them .As a bus enthusiast like you ,imasking you to contact them & gae them interested in doing it.Pull up Hostel buses in jamaica & have a look at it.They do classic restoration' on car &car shows, you can look them .take care

    For those who may have an interest ,Plaxtons made fire engines used by the old North Riding F, B in the 1960 ,Have photo of one taken at Malton Fire Stan 1963 ,

    Lovely collection of Plaxtons the National Express Rapids are they still owned by National Express or privately owned ?

    Excellent video, thanks for posting. A few interesting specimens there, some hours spent keeping them roadworthy too. I believe the Coachlines Paramount is on a very rare (these days) Dennis Dorchester chassis. The Eassons Tiger is a very early example of the breed. Also the red and cream Leopard in bay 21 was the last coach owned by Pennine Motors when they moved to using Darts for stage services

    You can see mccarthys oldest coach and their newest type of coach near the start. I love it.

      Sorry for the delay - I am not sure, but it has the Bedford badge, I think it is a Bedford VAS Panorama.
