We trekked the Langtang Valley in Nepal in late March 2023 in partnership with Kathmandu-based trekking agency Himalayan Masters. Along with our guide, Govinda Rai, we trekked from Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa (3865 m) over 4 days, via Sherpagaon, Thangshyap, and Langtang. We spent three nights in Kyanjin Gompa, giving us plenty of time to enjoy day hikes to both Kyanjin Ri (4586 m) and Tsergo Ri (4965 m).
These were the highlights of our Langtang Trek, and we were glad we took our time trekking up the valley in order to acclimatise well before embarking on these high altitude day hikes. On our way back down the Langtang Valley we spent one night at Lama Hotel, then joined the Gosainkunda trail shortly after Pairo. Videos and guides from our Gosainkunda Trek will be coming soon!
This ambient hiking film is a condensed version of our trek experience, focusing largely on the trail itself. To see many more scenes from the guesthouses we stayed at, and our day-to-day experience on the trail, check out our full length version of the film ( • Trekking Nepal's Langt... ).
For more info about this trek, a complete breakdown of the route, and advice and tips for the trail, check out our Complete Guide to the Langtang Valley Trek video ( • A Guide To The Langtan... ), and our accompanying written guides over on the blog (linked above).

We LOVED our Langtang Valley trek for its varied scenery and we experienced such great hospitality at guesthouses along the way. This trek takes in beautiful forest sections at the lower elevations, but within a few days you can be trekking to nearly 5000 metres, surrounded by snowy mountains and glaciers 🤯.To help you plan your own Langtang Valley Trek we've put together an indepth guide over on our blog, plus a detailed route description. Check them out here - www.goingthewholehogg.com/langtang-valley-trek-guide/ and www.goingthewholehogg.com/langtang-valley-trekking-route-guide/ We hope you enjoy the film, please show it some love to help us continue creating films like this 😀 Kim & Del
Love the quality of your cinematography, easy to see the effort you put in. You bring back the fond memories I have from the trekking I did in Nepal & Pakistan 30 years ago.
Thanks Mark, very much appreciated. Happy to help those memories come back 🙂
I did the Langtang trek in 1987. In October I am going to do the same trek again, 36 years later!
Fantastic! You really will see a difference in terms of guesthouses and facilities no doubt. Great to experience it again after such a long period of time. Have a wonderful trip!
Heartly, Welcome to Nepal once again 🇳🇵
Wow!
This video sets the standard for travel recording and filming.
It’s like you are there.
Thank you both Kim and Del.
Thank you Michael! Appreciate the kind words. Really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again 🙂
Commendable to see true hiking spirit carrying own gear instead of using porters and donkeys all the way.....god speed!
Appreciate it, thanks!
It's great to see this video. I witnessed the hard work you put in during the trek. We observed you on a day from Sherpagaon to Lamtang, setting up the camera and moving back and forth to film yourself. I was eagerly anticipating the release of the video.
Yes, can remember the conversation we had on Messenger at the time. Hope you enjoy it. Look out for the feature length one coming tomorrow. We just had so much good stuff from the guesthouses, etc. that we thought we'd make a short version focusing on the trail and a full length version showing all the good stuff off-trail. Would be interested to know what you think. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful video! The Langtang Valley Trek in Nepal looks absolutely breathtaking. The scenery and ambience captured in this film are truly mesmerizing. Makes me want to pack my bags and embark on my own adventure. Well done!
Thank you so much! It was such a pleasure to capture and experience, and it’s great to hear that the video makes you feel that way. Thanks again 😃
The wind blown face, trying to stay warm, the hard work of altitude... memories of Nepal....
Good memories 😃
Absolutely beautiful video ! And Kudos to Del for all the extra miles picking up the camera.
Thanks Samuel, very much appreciated! And thanks for the extra miles recognition 🏃😃
Masterpiece my friend! What a beautiful cinematography, b-roll shots are brilliant!

My best friend, It's always great. We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks

Oh, my god, you are in Nepal! I am looking forward to the end of my working day to watch this video!
Fantastic! Hope you enjoy it 😄
Hey Pals, I've recently discovered your channel, and I've been thoroughly enjoying watching your videos, especially your Nepal series. I love nepal, and having completed MERA PEAK in 2022, I'm hoping to head back soon, and film bigger adventures! Subbed, and I look forward to viewing more of your adventures in the future. Calum x
Hey Calum, thanks very much! Wow, Mera Peak, that must’ve been quite the experience. Yeah, Nepal’s one of those places you always want to head back to. Thanks again 😃
As allways an amazing video what an adventure ❤
Cheers Rob, very much appreciated 😃
Excellent film guys, what stunning ,diverse landscapes.I shall watch the full film to see some interaction with the locals. If I were 40 years younger, I would have loved to tackle that trail. Many thanks for your efforts.
Thanks very much Martin, really appreciate that. The Langtang Valley had never been on our radar on previous trips to Nepal but we’d recently heard good things about it and we have to say, it exceeded expectations. The longer film has some really good stuff in it, hope you enjoy it. Thanks again 🙂
Stunning. Great memories for us. Nicely shot
Thanks! Glad it brought back good memories
Beautifully shot and very relaxing! Well done! Add another hike to our bucket list 😁
Thank you, glad to hear it's made it onto your future hikes list!
Loved it ❤️
Thanks!
Stunning. Superb!!!!!
Huge thanks! 😃
Amazing video. Ambient type video is perfect for beautiful scenery like this. Often hiking videos are mostly people talking direct to camera about how good the day was. This is much better, loved it
Glad you enjoyed it and appreciated the style, thanks very much 😃
Amazing video Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks for watching and appreciating!
awesome
Thanks! 😃
Great video.
Cheers!
Great video you have inspired me to go here

Heavenly is all I can describe that as... Pure heaven... Can I ask how you found your guide... I'm hoping to do some treks yin Nepal very soon...
Thank you! We got on very well with our guide and found him to be very professional. We would certainly recommend him. His name is Govinda Rai, and he works with the trekking agency Himalayan Masters. If you organise your trek with them you can get a 5% discount if you mention us using the referral code HOGG5. You can read more about the trek and our experience with this agency and guide in our accompanying blog post - www.goingthewholehogg.com/langtang-valley-trek-guide/ Have a great time in Nepal! Cheers, Kim

Great video. Which month was this trekking done. Tqvm
Thanks. It was late March
Love this. Planning to book for my 40th this year. Any tips on who / where to book? Thanks.
Amazing, sounds like a great way to celebrate! We trekked with Himalayan Masters and definitely recommend them. You'll get 5% off if you mention us (code HOGG5) too 😃! You can just email them and Sandip will answer any questions and organise everything for you. Govinda was our guide and he's fantastic, so it's a bonus if you get to trek with him too!
@@GoingTheWholeHogg thanks for this. Really appreciate it. All the best.
Amazing trekking just wanna ask in which month did you guys went on and how long did it take to trek gosainkunda
We trekked the Langtang Valley at the end of March and continued on to Gosainkunda at the start of April. We trekked for 6 days from Lama Hotel to Kutumsang then took a jeep back to Kathmandu from there. We spent 2 nights at Gosainkunda so had a whole day to explore the area.
We had no issues with altitude acclimatisation as we had already been to Kyanjin Ri and Tsergo Ri, but we do advise others to think about how quickly they do the trek if they are not already acclimatised, all of which we’ve covered in our two Gosainkunda guides:

www.goingthewholehogg.com/gosainkunda-helambu-trekking-route-guide/
Hello. In what shape of fit you need to be to carry your onwn bag on shoulders around 10-12 kg?
Reasonably fit but not super fit, especially if you have experience carrying a bag like that and as long as you go at your own pace and not overdo it. Of course, the fitter and stronger you are the better 😃
@@GoingTheWholeHogg thanks!:))))
what month was it,the snow seem very thick
It was late March/early April
What’s a ND filter do u use ?
I really like your video’s mood
For this we used the Nisi 1.5-5 stop pro nano ND variable filter, but we’ve just bought their newer 1-5 stop True Color ND filter. Been using the Nisi filters for many years now and have been pretty happy with them 😃
Thanks 😃
is mobile network available during the route?
NTC works best, but it isn't available the entire way. Between approximately Rimche and Ghodatabela you won't get any signal.
What season was this,sir?
It was late March
Which month is it?
Last week in March 2023
DEL RUNNING
Haha, looking back, there was a lot 🏃😅
Can we visit there in August. How was the monsoon there.❤
It is possible to visit in August, although it would be quite hot and there would be much less snow on the mountain tops. The monsoon may still be ongoing at that time which means fewer mountain views and more rain of course.
