This song makes me cry. It reminds me a lot of my sister. It makes me remember her, because sometimes I forget to. I just stay up, listening to this song crying.
I'm a guy and I grew up in a home with 4 sisters no brothers and I'm always drawn to things that are female centric. It hasn't helped me really know women any better though. This video really has that for me my sisters all wore their hair long and straight and parted in the middle it was the 70's.

I just discovered Weyes Blood today, but she became my artist of the year. Even these older songs already sound perfect. Not, because they are perfectly made or arranged, but because they share some uncorrected authenticity without additional cosmetics. Real expressions, so to say. Rare in this world meanwhile. But great to hear it sometimes - nevertheless.

My favorite song of hers, so beautifully written.
She looks so young. This moves me extremely I was 18 I had my first job in Calgary moved there from Ontario. The first summer I had my first car a volkswagon and I decided when I had my first week of paid holidays in my life to drive from Calgary to the Vancouver and took the ferry across to Vancouver Island and all the way to Tofino on the west coast. The scenes of her in the old car driving and stopping and wandering almost choke me up. It was 1980 and the scenes so remind me of myself doing that and trying to find who I was. I'm a guy and older now but this is just like what I did. Very powerful song and video.

Not sure if you know this, but this music video was actually filmed in Canada! Specifically in Northern Ontario (Thunder Bay) I’m from northern Ontario myself so I feel very connected to this video in a sense haha.
@@stormsthatbreed That's nice to hear I live in Ontario now. Did the trip again in summer 2020 Calgary to Vancouver this time on a bicycle. Got on the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo and that's where it ended. Rode the bike the same route I took in 1980 by Volkswagen.
Weyes Blood captures life in Canada to a tee. I'm from Winnipeg and it is as sad as this song.

The ability to summon the true meaning of life in a single song is something otherworldly. She has it and it is incredible. This song makes me want to simultaneously give into all the demons but fight them off with the hope of a happy existence. It's the dichotomy of life at it's most emotional and profound

The George Harrison influence is so strong - listen to "Dear One" from the 33 1/3 album, eerily similar. The head shot on the water is straight off the Martin Scorsese film. Nice homage to former styles, with unique interpretation. Natalie Mering is such a blessed, spiritual talent.
