Watercolor paper is so expensive because it's a heavier weight than regular paper. It's also expensive due to the fact that it's durable and able to hold more water than regular paper before it begins to wrap. The price tends to vary depending on the brand/company that sells it. Hope this helped!

If you were to use regular watercolor on blank paper, it would start to curve/wave because the paper is smoother and thinner. Hope this helped and love your artwork :)

Make that Eiffel tower a mix media piece! You could get a sheet of super cute scrap booking paper and tear it and then glue it or use modge podge it across the bottom of that page. That Eiffel tower is beautiful!

I really believe that everyone must start someone where... But it bothers me when you say "these are my paintings or drawings" without giving credit or sourcing the image you used as a reference. The first "painting" is a picture I run across frequently on tumblr. I think you need to credit the original artist because some of these you did not come up with yourself. Also I believe your artwork could benefit from some a story studying . I'm not trying to hate just some constructive criticism.
I know this is really late, but if you didn't already put something in the open space for your Eiffel Tower, you should put like pink big flowers, like cherry blossoms.

Watercolor is just thicker paper, so it can hold the water. that's why I would say it's more expensive. Honestly for the sketchbooks I have seen $8 isn't two bad, but it is strange for 12 pages. As Artists we are our own worst critics, what we deem as "not that good" is Amazing artistic talent to others. Just look at some of the pieces that sell for thousands of dollars, they are super simple that a kindergartener could have painted it. Plus the more thou draw and paint the better you will get, and sometimes you just need to take a break and do other things, we do hit a wall sometimes, it's normal. Keep being artistic, use different mediums and don't over think things, not everyone has the same tastes, just let the artistic energy flow.
