I am a professional chef. I just showed that can of "American" hot dogs to everyone on our team of 27 culinary professionals no one had ever seen a brine can of hotdogs. Reminds me of something that Ted Allen would pull out of a chopped basket.
Pretty common thing here in sweden, but those sausages are intended to be boiled, I don't even know how a fried one would taste. "Hot dogs" or "varmkorv" was originally mostly served boiled in a brine when they got popularized in the early 1900's. The vendors would walk the streets carrying large boxes around their neck in which the sausages were stewing in the brine.
i watch a lot of “gadget testing” and “as seen on tv” testing videos bc i think they’re really fun, but one thing that has hurt me in the past is seeing people trash on a gadget/item for being “useless” when it could be helpful for disabled people, because both me and my wife are disabled. this is the first video of yours i’ve watched - you’re the first-ever person of this type that i’ve ever seen mention how many of these products are useful for disabled people, and i appreciate that so, so much. you’re very funny and fun to watch, and you seem like you really enjoy what you do!!! a new sub for sure ❤️
Lettuce browning vs not browning: I've always been taught that when you tear lettuce by hand, you pull the cells apart from each other, and that reduces lettuce turning brown. When you cut it, you slice the cells open, and that encourages browning. The only way the plastic knife would cause less browning is if it tore the lettuce rather than slicing it.
Lettuce update, not much going on. 😂 If you are creating a gadget please consider people who have difficulty with gripping possibly due to arthritis or numbness in their hands. My elderly father loves to cook but cannot close his hands to make a fist anymore. He has trouble holding handles of pans and cooking utensils. Thank you for being considerate of people with disabilities.
that girl in okc .....that’s a wonderful idea. I would also like to add - please make them affordable & able to buy from other Countries. I find that as soon as the word Disability is mentioned for any product, the price increases dramatically.
Get him one of those amazon echo things that keeps talking Barry randomly. Not only will it keep your grandad company, but he doesn't even have to use his hands to say 'Alexa, send That girl in okc a text message to come around and cut my lettuce up for me' and you'll be around in minutes to help him out :)
The best way to keep your lettuce from browning is to tear it instead of cut it. Tearing it doesn't destroy the cells of the lettuce, it tears along the cell membrane.
You are absolutely wonderful and it its FABULOUS that you're thinking about making gadgets to help people who have challenges with kitchen tasks as well as more general ones! YOU ROCK!
I've always found that cooking eggs and "cakey" foods are not like conventional cooking - the microwaving process seems to change the taste, and not for the better. Thanks for sharing!

It doesn't mean they're sold in the US, it just means it's an 'American style' hotdog. Made using a more American recipe than usual hotdogs in the UK. Don't take it so literally lol

Thank you so much for the content to you create on many levels. I found your channel A few months ago when I was having a particularly rough day and looking for random videos to cheer me up. All it took was carbonated milk to spill everywhere and then the barrathon began :p I have some mild disabilities and I would also like to thank you for the disclaimer you put in every one of your gadget videos. not only have many of the gadgets been incredibly helpful to people I know, but to myself as well, and seeing someone acknowledge their other uses is incredibly rare and meaningful to find. And then of course thank you for the laughs, puns and all the dad jokes :p
I have heard that the Old West gunfighter, 'Wild Bill' Hickock, had a brother, who wasn't as, shall we say, 'fighty' than his more famous brother. Therefore, he was known as 'Mild Bill' Hickock. It wasn't unusual in the 19th century, for siblings to have the same name, generally as their father.

Barry’s review of Betty Crocker “Tastes like wet Gateau”

That it tastes like wet cake instead of a brownie. It can mean a lot of things, like it was soaked in condensed milk or syrup.
It didn’t help that he added 3Tbs of oil instead of halving it 😅

Someone who wants a fried egg sandwich 🤔
I'm all for taking time of but i mist your video's! Glad your back with an all time favorite:) have a good year!
Just because something is labeled American doesn't mean it is. I've never once seen a sausage in a can and I'm 40 years old lived in Michigan the majority of my life now in West Virginia. Never heard of this not American
Does the country roads take you home?
It doesn't mean they're sold in the US, it just means it's an 'American style' hotdog. Made using a more American recipe than usual hotdogs in the UK. Don't take it so literally lol
....mountain mama, take me home... country roads~
not even vienna sausages?
I've seen sausages in a can but never hot dogs... Yuck
i just came across one of your videos and i don't know why i got so addicted to watching these review! it was awesome i binge watched since yesterday LOL

You should really do a separate video for that aicok. Looks like a lot to it.
When you don't know what to comment but really really want to comment 😝

Thank you! This has improved my day greatly! With a sick kid at home, I needed a little enlightenment. 👍
Oxidising?
You have a mild West country accent.
MILD MILD WEST!
Barry is indeed from the Mild West.
Only "mild"?🤣
@@mrbarrylewis you are such a punny guy!
American style hotdogs ..in BRINE ? I’ve never seen those .. well Red Hots but they are sausages. The mice blanket thingies look good .. lol .. I bet they taste good .. love your videos ! 💞🎄💞🎄💞
I have a disability. I could give you suggestions on some kitchen gadgets that will be useful?
Activity Central YES PLEASE... I would love to see some more gadgets for people with disabilities👍
Maybe Barry could have some kind of focus group to discuss what kind of things would be useful and how they should be made?
I love Joanne’s idea👍
I just randomly found your channel and I have to say I adore you. I have been laughing my ass off and you are a riot an absolute riot!
Any men watching? *SNIP*
Cherry drilling gadget has been in polish grandmas kitchen for ages ;-) I'm proud of you that you've figured it out so fast
American hotgods don't come in a can.

Vienna sausage
@@samanthabrekke5649 That's. Not. A. Hotdog.
@@beccabosheers5456 I know it's not a hot Dog
@@beccabosheers5456 it's not a "hotgod" either
@@solaireofastora7178 haha it might be!
I am in love with the toaster! Just ordered myself one! Thanks Barry for the tip!
Lol, who clicked this so fast?
To make a new kitchen gadgets you are the guy, with all your experience it will be great. Can't wait!!!
Barry, it's read 'The Old Oak', not 'Ye Old Oak'.😉
Gotta respect the thorn!
Yay Barry's back! Happy New year!
You should make a fork with fan to eat spaghetti or any hot food with out burn our moth lol
It'd be cool to see you try some challenges from cooking shows, like picking ingredients on pieces of paper from a box, or doing a mystery box
