Great video. Stamps (and coins) are definitely getting more expensive - I think these hobbies are experiencing a resurgence. That being said, I just picked up 1000 world stamps for £12, and a set of amazing Philippines stamps, mint, for a £1. What a steal! :) Still an affordable hobby, if you're collecting for attractiveness rather than rarity, and lot less expensive than collecting coins!

Amazing to hear how popular stamp collecting was among kids, and that interesting stamps were so cheap and available to buy. Thanks for the video. :)

Age is not the main reason why a stamp may be valuable. The main reasons are condition and rarity, followed by demand and quality.

Every viewer please spread words around to young generation to your relatives, friends on what is Philately, the dieing hobby.
My son and daughter have been injected philately, the recent visits to relatives and some friends are motivated. So atleast my son is involved. Agencies need to invest money on media publicity too and hold regular exhibitions through philately societies.

You can buy 100 Argentina stamps today for under $6. $1 in 1960 is worth over $10 today so I would say that stamp collecting is more affordable nowadays. Put it another way, $1 in 1960 would probably buy 4 gallons of gas; $6 today wouldn't even pay for 2 gallons.

I noticed the plate blocks are $1. I guess there was an agreement among dealers to up the value.

Honor Built Packets! back then at $1 for a packet of 100 they weren"t losing money>>>yr basic low CV... catalogue value for most stamps was... 2 cents ! They were selling at 50 % of C V !

They are still worth 2c today.
Minimum catalog value has increased but it's all for dealer carrying cost

I can't even look at stamps , came into a collection and trusted dealers out of there home, had jenny position 26, not having a clue in mid 90s, confronted man when I found out what it was came out in linns couple months later, he denied signatures of famous people on envelopes, when he read clipping of jenny he told me I might find my answer in heaven. Found out later years my x and her mom sued him and won. Ask around in Bloomington IL. People know of it. It ended up at Siegel auctions for half million dollars, 3 other men cheated and stold items, including a preacher who stalked me for 3 months while my mother was dying so I let him in my house, a big mistake, more to the true story, it's a hell of a true story that ruined my life, I figured things out to late,

I would not be so sure that they worth nothing, in "Ebay" and "Etsy" ( for example) you can find hundreds of cancelled stamps over $100 , and many even reaching almost $1000. I even saw in your images many un- cancelled stamps, maybe there are some mints with glue. In your place i surely would Investigate. Something more : You also have SOTH cancellations that make stamps more expensive. Thank You !

Those who sell such stamps on ebay and Etsy have no idea the value of stamps. I see penny stamps listed on both sites everyday for hundreds or thousands of dollars. One clueless seller follows another and they all have it wrong.
I've collected for 69 years and I know.

The "CTO" did more damage to the hobby than anything else by flooding the market with those kind of
" labels ", Secondly, issues aimed at collectors overwhelmed legitimate stamps for postal need. With the advent of the internet and instaneous messaging, the tombstone will read, born 1840, died ????
