While we did defeat the Burning Legion and jail Sargeras back in WoW Legion and this was a really celebrated victory in hindsight was this a mistake? While the Legion was after us their primary goal was to actually stop the Void Lords and they were fighting them on every corner of the universe.
Now in WoW: Dragonflight with all the Old gods hints and the possibility of a Void Lord invasion what can we do. The Burning Legion is no longer there to stop the Void Lords and now they can concentrate all their efforts to invade Azeroth and to establish the black empire, bigger than it ever was on Azeroth. They already have the Old Gods available, so could we have to resort to turning to Sargeras in his prison in order to learn how to defeat these void monsters?

Nah. Sargeras was the kind of guy who thought the solution to the house being infested with termites was to burn the house down.
I could see Illidan and Sargeras putting a stop to their endless fight and returning. But I could also see that after the jailer rattled the original makers cage something happening with that too. Alot of hidden lore in Zereth Mortis

Jailing Sargeras isn't a mistake, it's the Primal Incarnates' ideals of breaking Azeroth free from the Titan's grasp that's the one true mistake ever and I have a good reason for it.
The problem with thinking Sargeras was the most powerful thing standing in the Void's way is that we actually beat him. So while Sargeras truly feared the power of the Void Lords, the Void Lords should probably fear the power of a handful of 'heros' who pay a monthly subscription.

I think sargerus might have plunged the sword for 2 reasons, it could be that it was one last chance to destroy azeroth, but it could also be if that failed he knew the sword could somehow be used to fight the void lords, so that even if he was gone, his ultimate goal could still be realized.
At the close of this expansion, the Void lords begin their invasion.
The final cinematic of Dragonflight is Kahdgar (or whomever) opening massive portals bringing in Yrel and her massive Lightforged army.

I don't think it's been retconned, but as far as I remember, the Void Lords can't exist on our plane for long, and not without expending huge amounts of energy. With that in mind, the Void Lords themselves have never invaded Azeroth, or any planet for that matter. They flung out corporeal agents in the form of the Old Gods in a sort of blind, scatter-dash way to see what they could land on and effect, but never set foot (tentacle?) anywhere outside their own realm. Happy to be corrected on this.

Sargeras will be freed to aid us in defeating the void lords. Usually when someone/something is imprisoned rather than killed is because it still has a role to play later down the line.
Especially considering he is just Titan illidan and Illidan I'd out there with him.
I dont know, feels too common in warcraft to have a villian that turns into an ally for us the latter parts of their story. I wish for a more original story. I wish for a more original warcraft tbh. That was what made Warcraft 3 so appealing innit?

Here is a theory. Sargeras act as he knew he was about to get imprisoned, He plunged the sword into azoroth and inflicted is somewhat with fel or some power from himself preventing a fast corruption by the Void.
Kind of like you idiots you have no idea what you’re doing.. planted the sword because he still isn’t giving up even while being sealed and imprisoned.. is he who the jailer was trying to be? 😂
I wonder if this is the expansion when Azeroth (the titan) will be born. It’s been implied that Azeroth will be even stronger than Sargeras and could defeat the void lords on her own. So I think Sargeras being imprisoned was not a mistake. He likely wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Void lords on his own, but Azeroth can, and he tried to kill her.
Maybe Sargeras planted the sword in a final attempt to kill something burried deep beneath the earth?
As many people know, several of the Old Gods in WoW are named for things HP Lovecraft wrote.

Na it was his final attempt to free Azeroth from her cell that the Titans incased it in before the Titan machines fully corrupt her. he wanted to crack open the prison the Titans confined Azeroth in. Azeroth is a first one that the titans tricked and captured. He realized that Azeroth is the only hope of saving this reality left as he witnessed the burning legion falling apart. plot twist is the Titans have long been corrupted by void and it's all the fighting has been a long plot to fully corrupt and control the only first one (Azeroth) left in our plane of reality.

Azeroth has to be something that is more than an Elemental or a Titan. I mean why else would all, and I mean ALL, cosmological forces seem determined to claim her power for their own, my working theory is that Azeroth is actually a child of the first ones. It makes a whole lot of sense, I mean what better way to control the fate of the very universe, than to control the very entitiey who could potentially be an architect to the entire universe.
Will be interesting to see Illidan return after being so close to the Titans all this time. I honestly doubt they were too accommodating to him as he is literally pumped full of Fel magic and basically a demon himself. I wouldn't doubt if he was thrown into a prison right beside Sargeras not too long after we left him at the seat of the pantheon.

Maybe a truce between the titans and the burning legion might happen in order to fight the voidlords. If you remember the comic of the future blizzard made they are in a crystal spaceship and said the burning legion has came too aid them. Anduin might get cursed of old age.

There's something's that do need to be cleared up. The burning legion primary objective was to combat the void.
So why were void walkers considered demons? Warlocks enslave demon utilized fel to turn demons subservient, so how did that even work on a void walker? If the legion almost entirely took over dreanor, why were there so much void presence there after they took it over?
Because blizz didn't have the whole thing planned out and they've written themselves into a ton of corners.

I hope Void Lords will look badass and not only like big Voidwalkers. The Old Gods are visually so cruel and are just tools? Doesn`t feel right. Then the thing with Sargeras being filled with orange fire instead of felfire.
@Doronsmovies - Something I've never seen addressed anywhere is why Sargeras manifests as an entity engulfed in elemental fire; not fel fire... elemental fire. And with the release of Dragonflight, we see that Sargeras' body bares a striking resemblance to that of the djaradin. Additionally, the cinematic involving Sargeras always bothered me; he could have manifested at any time and cleaved the planet, if his intent was to destroy. Instead, he sent his armies and watched from above. We misconstrued his actions, believing that he intended to destroy the planet with that fateful plunge of his sword... That's not what it looks like to me. It felt more like he was aiming for the titan machinery that was encasing Azeroth. His intent was to desstroy the machinery, not the world soul.
I wish we could see the actual Elune instead using Tyrande as a puppet.
It will take a likely Alliance from everything the Light The Legion and the Titans to Deal with the Void Lord's whom has been undermining all the Cosmological Forces in different ways. Having Azeroth turn against the Titans to what end? Killing them only Weakens a Ally and resistance Against the Void. In the end the Void Lord's will break free based on countless ages of time tweaking time and putting Us Against everyone the Titans and more. We Don't have to Trust the Titans or Light or anyone else. But Non of them would want the Void to be unleashed at its Full Power portal open free and there God's unleashed the Void Lord's.

I definitely think that Illidan and Sargeras are going to be talking a lot about everything, and I think that they will both show up at some point in aide to us and the universe.

You think the Il'gynoth whisper 'Five keys to open our way, five torches to light our path' could be refering to the Oathstones in Dragonflight? Would also be a major indication that Void plays a big role this time. :/
@Doronsmovies Great video, but I feel like you're missing something quite crucial to this entire plot.
In Shadowlands and via the Chronicle, we learn that the Void is an integral cosmological power created by the First Ones, so clearly they fit into things somehow and have a purpose, so why would they be villains of a scope any more devastating than what we've faced? Order, Life, Light, Shadow, Death Disorder are all one of the six major powers.
Zereth Mortis insinuated pretty heavily that they were part of some great design long ago. If that's the case, then any one of those 6 powers could represent a more or less equal threat to everything, including the Light.
The Jailer mentioned some kind of other threat out there far worse, so if anything, we're just crippling all possible allies against that great, unseen enemy. It has probably been manipulating us for ages now, using us to systematically dismantle all the major obstacles in its way, and the Void is just another one of those obstacles.
All I'm getting from the way wow's lore is going is "All the big six powers suck and don't care about anyone." they are all just fanatics trying to pursue their own agenda and we're all caught in the middle of this 6 way cosmic war between them all.

Warlocks, like demons, use all manners of magic. Arcane, void (shadow), fel, sometimes nature, elemental (like fire) - even some death magic. They are all tools for spellcasters.

They've lied to us as have other Aspects that only use us to fight there battles for them and then we later find out that we eliminated the ones that wanted to help us.. I think voidwalkers were retconned as demons and not actually related to void, despite the name. I could be wrong, but a quick Google search would clarify. Although, warlocks themselves do also tap into both Fel and Shadow/void for some of their abilities, so there's that.

Shoot I have been saying it for years, we will get a light vs void expansion. Im guessing though that Illidan kills Saragaras, Saragaras tells Illidan about what's really happening and why he did what he did, Tells illidan about the pantheon being the baddies and how to unlock the secrets of his sword, Illidan runs away from pantheon and back to Azeroth. Dragonflight ends with us 'beginning our own path free of old gods and titan influence' void expansion starts with us discovering the secrets of the big sword that are schematics to a ship that can travel into the void an weapons/tools made specifically for fighting the void. half the expansion is a void invasion and the other half is us going into the void. World of Warcraft: Void Wars.

So while titans represent order they also represent purity. Each Titan is an essence. Time, life, death, justice ect ect. Azerorth has no spirit because she consumed it all. Did we forget that the Void invaded the legions main base of operations? Cause I remember Void on Argus. Clearly the Burning Legion weren’t that good at their job
they more so settled upon a piece of land that broke off from Argus, Eredath, and where the Legion had little pressence. And from what we can see, the Void had gotten there only recently, possibly only with our arrival, as they only had managed to settle upon a small corne of said region.

At this point, having the Void be the ultimate villains of the Warcraft universe seems hugely disappointing and anticlimactic. I'd be more satisfied if the 6 cosmological forces were all treated as morally neutral, with players being allowed to pick and choose which force they'd align themselves with.
Besides, after learning about the "7th force outside the cycle" in Shadowlands that even Void is afraid of, it wouldn't make sense to have Void be the ultimate threat.

Sargeras would never side with us because he believes nothing can stop the Void Lords. Something big would need to happen for him to see The Void isn’t unstoppable.
Side note: The Legion has never been portrayed as “void hunters”. We have never seen them actively fighting The Void and they even use Void and have creatures of The Void in their ranks. Sargeras has also never fought, or met, The Void Lords. Only learning about them through the Nathrezim…..*cough* all part of the jailer’s plan *cough*
My prediction is when Sargeras comes back, he will be our ally this time round realizing that he has been right all this time and the titan are manipulating us.

Why can’t we fight like the dragons and keep it DRAGONS. Why can’t get a “Rise of the Scarlet Crusade” expansion that has the now undead Sally whiteman explain truly how twisted the crusade was. How in death her mind became clear and could she how she was wrong. Why can’t we fight a human like say Tyralion who turns to be our enemy but isn’t corrupted or anything he just saw his views as right and he we had to stop him. Like everything has masters and puppets and strings and webs and like deep lore is fine but only if you elaborate not just keep dumping more and more and more and more and never explore anything except for COSMIC POWERS cause it’s the easiest to write for because they don’t have to many limits

It's a bit late to say this, but optimism for the storyline of this game has constantly been paywalled by a monthly subscription and numerous out-of-game books. The fans deserve a mind-blowing conclusion to a game that many of us have devoted years to. Yes, there are in-game features that give the game a lot of replay ability including class/race diversity, but the storyline itself has to be solid to set this game apart from other great RPGS and MMORPGS. I want to believe that there's more to the game than the quest for the shiniest sword/ax or the shootiest bow/gun. If we are really supposed to save the universe (which has gotten quite silly by this point), it would be nice if the story would start becoming a bit clearer.

The players have never defeated a Titan, Argus was incredibly weak due to his captivity and even then we were carried by the titans to victory. Definitely can't beat Sargeras.
