Hi! This is Chuck here at Apple Drains reminding you that: '"If you believe you can do something, I guarantee you can do it, YOU CAN DO IT!" Informative video. Thank you for sharing this!

Well Chuck I’m a believer! We did it. Hand dug our trench, installed the pipe and filled with stone. Your video gave us the confidence to start. Now we have to get rid of the spoil pile. That’s moving that dirt twice 😖

Friend, if someone is commenting about the brand of tools you use, your doing good. Shows they are stretching to make a negative comment. Brand of tools is the least o your worries in this line of work. Wish you were closer. Doing mine in Al clay. Still debating to use fabric or not. Your vids help so much. Thanks

Chuck, thanks so much for your videos. Son and I installed 110' last month with 3 catch basins and two pop up dump valves [can't remember correct name]. Even used your money saving risers on 6'' catch basins.

I dunno about using a sock..i spent good money which I have little of for the 'socked' black kind and even bought the white..the black sock was loose and just ruined the tubes in about 2 years.. so I went nuts this year, dug it all up..used white pvc since the holes outside were averaging 20 in., foundation coated the walls(since they weren't)..put blueboard on and used sprayfoam to adhere it to the block-- top of that, more coating..then backfilled..covered the exposed gravel with concrete at a slope..i can do it myself! thanks bro...the only snag was I wasn't home when the gravel guy came and dumped 6 yds of stone in the driveway..took me about 3 days..

On my property, I undermined the sidewalk using a pipe and hose to erode it. I had do go under and cut some tree root (wish I had a zawsaul at the time). Almost perfect. The grade of the yard is a little flat. I cut through the curb with a pickaxe and I do have flow. I don't recommend it if you can cut through the sidewalk. It's lots of dirty, hard work for one man alone.

Good Morning. Task is putting a French Drain and coating foundation/ footer/bricks. There are roots through the brick near where underground electrical service starts going up wall. After digging trench near electrical service, the only thing I can think of to clear dirt that is close to electrical is to blast with water. I have sump pump to remove water. SAFE? Better idea? All locator services contacted.

Nice video man, I have the same problem in my backyard next to the air unit. The ground stays muddy most of the time. I have 3 main gutters that also drain on that side of the house. I was wondering how much water that pipe can handle and do you worry about it not flowing fast enough to drain properly?

Heyyyy Chuck from Apple drains I have to build a rubble drain behind my house. How far from the foundation do I need to make the rubble rain? And how deep do I need to dig? Do I need to go deeper than the foundation of the house? Thankyou

I feel like you guys could have dug that trench by hand in less than 5 hours with 3 of you on site lol, I dug out my foundation by hand 3' down 1' out 80' long and it took me about 20 hours of digging roughly, granted my soil is pretty sandy.

why don't US downpipes get connected to the street as a matter of course? every video i have seen they just run onto the lawn..no wonder there are drainage issues. In NZ and Australia, ALL stormwater from the roof goes directly to the street.

Hand dig trial holes to identify the location of all utilities before you run that trencher!
Takes a bit longer, but you’re far less likely to hit something.

Makes no sense to use corrugated pipe on gutter drains... just makes it a wast since that pipe catches debris and stops up the smarter way is to use smooth pipe like 3034 or n12 with a smooth inside... no blockages ? Ya think

How deep of gravel should you have under the line? As well as on top of the line? I dug a trench and I have good drainage. It very shallow ,maybe 8 inches..

    • @Bellislawns
      @Bellislawns 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

+fuzzbutt2871 the minimum would be 2" on bottom and side. Also, bring gravel on top to 1" below grade then back fill. This will allow quick surface water filtration into the system. Remember, more gravel is better and a wider trench with more gravel will filter more water into the system!

Nice video, but I would have used y connectors facing the direction of desired waterfowl. you would have less resistance of water back flow during heavy rains, also using actual metal downspout extensions ie: same color as existing downspout down to the plastic connector would have looked much better than seeing flex pipe stick out of the ground. I'm pretty sure you could have jetted a hole under the sidewalk thereby negating the need to cut it out. These were just my opinions, and as the old saying goes opinions are like ......... everybody has one.

Chuck, we did not see how you placed the gravel into the drench, we want it to know how well this french drain is going to work with the sloppy job done. I think that; all the mod/clay is going to be clogged "in no time" your french drain. That is why you did not show it in this video. Sorry man.

Looked good until the sprinkler pipe repair. Putting the loop under the drain would be better protection from freezing. Also never put the pvc inside the fitting, it always goes on the outside of the pipe! That's to prevent the cement from clogging the line. The only thing that should go inside the fitting would be cleaner.
