  • Hamas Victory (2006): Are we witnessing a new political movement in the Middle East? The pressure is now on Hamas to transform itself into a recognised legitimate government. Report by ABC Australia, April 2006.

"It's like a big political Tsunami hitting the whole region," states Dr Iyad Saraj. "Ten years of failures have left many despondent with the political process." "Jewish settlements are expanding, corruption is getting worse," despairs former Fatah supporter Omar Shaker. In comparison to Fatah, Hamas is seen as clean and honest. Despite its involvement in violence, its elevation to a legitimate, elected political party could be the start of a new direction for the region. As Ariel Sharon's former security advisor states: "These gentlemen are serious people. We can have common ground."

If I understand correctly, the people of Gaza legitimately elected Hamas as their leaders. Also, the goals and aspirations of Hamas was well known to the people. So, it seems Hamas is actually operating according to the desires and approval of the population. Isn't that the reason for the gatherings that happened around the various places of the world? They were demonstrating their approval?

70% of the population are very young. Therefore, when that election happened, they were either not born or able to vote.
So if there was a new vote, I very much doubt the people of Palestine will want them as their leader... instead, they will probably try to co-exist with isreal.
Which Hamas do not want, they want the destruction of isreal as they see it as a unholy site I'm there eyes.
I'm not the best at explaining this, but there is a lot on it. it's just spread about.

why they support Hamas, do Palestinian civilians want a war with Israel? Their economy totally break out, their land is not suitble to cultivate. all people are unemployment, if they want to survive, the only way is to support Hamas. Because they have no hope, only death and poverty.

If 44% voted for them in 2006, the last election held, and 50% of the population today are under 18, then a maximum of 22% of Gazans voted for Hamas in 2006, that would be assuming no older people died in the last 17 years, which means the true number is even less. At least 80% of the Gazan population are completely innocent yet 100% of them are suffering, killed, displaced, maimed, traumatized. Explain to me how this is fair and necessary?

As to the occupation of Palestine and the West bank. From the end of the 1948 war until 1967, they were occupied by the Egyptians and the Jordanians. Neither of whom showed interest in setting up an independent state for either entity.

Jordan annexed West Bank and gave Jordanian citizenship in the early 50s. That is true.
In contrast, Egypt never annexed Gaza strip. Haj Al Amin Husseini setup something called an All Palestine Government in 1949. This was just a puppet government controlled by Egypt. This was abolished in 1959 and the strip remained under Egypt military rule until 1967. The idea between 49-59 was to conquer all of historic Palestine again and then join Gaza with it
However by the early 60s, during the peak of the Pan-Arab movement where Egypt and Syria became the UAR. So under that idea, Egypt did take over Gaza Strip for a unified Arab state. Not quite true to say they never attempted to form a Palestine state after 1948.

Read the history of Israel yourself and then you will come to know how deep is terrorism in foundation of Israel. They are the who brought terrorism to that land. Listen to Jews who are not biased, talk to ex IDF soldiers who admit their mistakes and also listen to Scott Ritter, a former marine nuclear disarmament and intelligence officer. You will know the truth if you really want.

The Palestinians are not terrorists, they are occupiers, and they have the right to recover their homeland and lands from colonialism, just as we Algerians were liberated from French colonialism after a century and 30 years, during which France committed the most heinous crimes against our ancestors, but thank God that the Algerian people liberated themselves and fought France, and France killed more than 2 million Algerians in seven years. For years, imagine with me that if Algeria had not been liberated, we would be bombed now like Gaza, and the world would call us terrorists just because we want to liberate our homeland. The real terrorism is the colonizer. European countries are the cause of wars and destruction because they have always wanted to take and colonize other countries.

I don't believe the rise of Hamas suprised the Israeli government in the least. People within that government have come out & admitted that Israel wanted Hamas as an adversary over the secular PLO. They allowed cash to flow to Hamas and as a matter of policy considered them preferable to dealing with more secular factions, all to help justify their treatment of all Palestinians and to prevent international talks with less religious extremist groups towards a Palestinian state.

      1) What the Israelis funded was not Hamas, but the Islamic association that was given permission by the Israelis to do charity work and provide social services to Palestinians, which Israel as the occupier is actually required to do according to international law; the Israelis are responsible for making sure that the Palestinians are provided with basic necessities.
      2) The Israelis don't need excuses to commit crimes because they can do whatever they want and get away with it. They have been killing Palestinians decades before Hamas came into existence. 3) Even if Hamas didn't exist, Israel would still have to deal with other Palestinian factions like Islamic Jihad. Even if Israel didn't support the Islamic association in Gaza before the first intifada, the Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood still would have created Hamas as a resistance movement against Israeli occupation.
      3) Both the PLO and even Hamas have accepted an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, the only difference is that the PLO recognizes Israel unlike Hamas.

You ppl hear talking points and repeat them as "knowledge" without applying not a single brain to it in critial analysis. Have you seen ANY state in the world without an army? That Hamas has an armed branch to defend the sliver of land Palestinians can still claim as their 'own' does NOT make them terrorists. Israel calls them terrorists because they must contend with them in the violent occupation and the western old imperialist colonial and racist governments support them in it.
They are ALL liars and propagandists, the whole lot of them and you are buying into that lie.

Just, look at how political parties talk about each other in your country for perspective. That has NO bearing on who Hamas is and how efficient they can govern. NO ONE can govern in Gaza successfully when you control... NOTHING! 71% of the civilians has nothing to do with hamas.
It is oct 10th 2023, and these people are being pounded daily, their homes being raised to the ground, from the air from the sea and may be by ground invasion, all this cause this terrorist group of hamas, went on a spree of killing innocent people theorugh the border, committing crimes against humanity. This and im NOT trying to give any light to say that the government of israel and their rhetoric has been in any shape or form perfect, but remain the fact that in the name ot these crimes committed by Hamas all these civilians will get inhailated as they have No where to run.

(You have to be of a particular brand of stupid or have a room temperature IQ to think that this was ever going to end well for you) ••• In 2014 they were at nearly 80% support of Hamas..Recently in 2021 that support had dropped but it is still at 58 to 65%. Say those numbers out loud and visualise them. All 30000 members of the genocidal terrorist organisation called Hamas, of course are Gazans, extended families and extended support. Dancing in the street, handing out candy and shooting guns in the air and celebration of the slaughter of babies, women and children and the raping of Israeli women and tourists.. so You can stop pretending that Gaza doesn't love Hamas.. 🥱

I disagree with aspects of this broadcast. Namely the fact that Israel left the Gaza strip in 2005 totally! They left because after decades of agreeing to a 2 state solution was always rejected by the Palestinians who were basically manipulated by the Arab states. Israel did not occupy Gaza after 2005 and even when they did prior to 2005 it was to benefit the Palestinians not make life harder for them. It's only common sense for Israel to have border crossings especially when the fact is that ALL Arab states and in particular the Hamas terrorists want to genocide all Jews.

So what is an outsider to think?
How to you draw a separation between Hamas and Palestinians when the self-proclained "PEACEFUL Palestinians" so fervently defend violent terrorists acts of Hamas?
That's a serious question for anyone out here.
Some say the terrorist use INNOCENT civilians as shields. But what if the civilians have the same mentality as these guests of Pierce Morgan, and are pro-hamas...cheering on whatever Hamas does, no matter how heinous .
If the civilians Hamas hides with are defending them as much as these guests.....I can see why Israel isn't immediately moved by protests accusing them of killing civilians along with the terrorists in their strikes. Maybe they believe that the civilians are cheering on the acts of Hamas.
    Just a 🤔 thought.
    OR....**plot twist**
Maybe the real Palestinian civilians who are actually there getting blown up wish these so called voices for Palestinians would shut up defending Hamas. They may be like, hey we hate what Hamas has done and we are here on the ground paying for it! You voices overseas acting like you're speaking for us need to shut up, defending Hamas because you're over there in the UK and America in comfort and call yourself speaking for us, but at the same time championing the terrorists that are getting us real civilian Palestinians killed!
Because, I've yet to hear from the actual Palestinians who are dodging Israeli bombs and missles each day due to Hamas's actions. What if THEY (actual Palestinian civilians) have a VERY different opinion than these so called voices for Palestinians who come on Pierce Morgans show protesting against Israel and supporting Hamas's actions.

They are caged there as a consequence of failed leadership that was elected by their own people. Israel is not going to incorporate a culture that has manifestations of anti-semitism embedded within it into their own country. Why would they?
I agree that some of Israel’s strategies are imperfect but it does what it feel needs to be done to ensure the security of its own people. If the Palestinian leadership wanted better for its people, it should have established a diplomatic agenda to partition that land and negotiate with Israel as opposed to engaging in warfare with the expectation that they could bully or murder Jewish people out of that territory. They thought they would be able to do what other Muslim societies do to Jewish people and just exile them out of that region, but it turns out they are no match for the Israelis and this is the result. When you choose war, you run the risk of losing it. And the status quo for the Palestinians is the circumstance for losers of war. Especially when the leaders of said losers continue to make threats.

    • @ren2871

Ok so Hamas has a charter that calls for the destruction of the state of Israel and the murdering of Jews. In the West Bank, Mahmoud Abbas is a notorious Holocaust denier who has a pay to slay system in place that gives lifetime stipends to the families of Palestinian terrorists, by terrorists I mean those who conducted terrorist attacks against Israelis and Jews abroad. Abbas' mentor, Yaser Arafat was also a terrorist who launched 2 intifadas against Israel and planned and carried out horrific terrorist attacks against Israel and Jews (Munich Olympics). Ok so if you don't believe Israel should have a right to exist, call for its destruction, call for terrorism against Jews, what should Israel do as a superior military power? Open borders, provide Palestinians unlimited access to Jews? Seriously, think a bit before spewing nonsense.
Right now, Israel provides Palestinians with jobs in Israel, they pay for their electricity, gas, fuel, medication and etc. The IDF is the only army on earth to warn before conducting any airstrikes on Hamas targets and pleading with civilians to flee. Hamas tells blocks and tells people to stay put. Also, Hamas and Fatah are incredibly rich. Arafat was a billionaire, the head of Hamas is worth 4 billion dollars and lives in Doha Qatar. Which reminds me.... in reference to your "Schools teaching I is for Intifada" which im assuming is some form of exaggerated sarcasm, but just in case you just caught the news, saw the college presidents getting grilled, and assumed you were viewing actual news rather than what it actually was: a propaganda spectacle that was heavily funded by a superpac, where senators beholden to said pac took their marching orders and bullied college presidents into answering questions related to an alternate universe or otherwise nonexistent realm. Not to be hyperbolic, but I strongly believe that creating your own secret defintions to words, unbeknownst should be categorized as such. They started from a presupposition that intifada = call for the genocide of jews . The word 'intifada' is not a "call for the genocide of Jews" by any stretch, but i dont believe for a second anyone believed it was in the first place. It was one of the most intellectually dishonest questions I have ever seen framed. It was all too ridiculous to watch. @@IslamicMuhammadIsPedophile It is NOT Hamas who puts a wall around Gaza, to keep people locked inside the world's largest concentration camp. And it's NOT Hamas which controls and severely limits all the food and even water which goes into Gaza to keep people on a near-starvation diet, not even allowing humanitarian aid to enter, but even attacking aid convoys! And it's NOT Hamas who keeps on shooting the people in Gaza - mostly women and children! - like fish in a barrel... for SPORT! And it's NOT Hamas who arrests and incarcerates thousands of Gazans each year - even CHILDREN! - for little or no reason. And it's NOT Hamas who is currently slaughtering Palestinians in YET ANOTHER genocidal massacre which the Israelis who commit such atrocities refer to as 'mowing the lawn', which tells us everything we need to know about their attitude to these periodic massacres! And it's NOT Hamas which bombs hospitals and even schools!
You're truly not smart if you imagine your lies will be believed by either me or the rest of the world... The rest of the world is finally waking up to Israel's lies and propaganda and unless Israel changes its attitude soon, it is likely to disappear! I hope more people see this. For 80+ years, Palestinians have been encouraged to fight. Before Hamas it was Arab nations, Egypt, Syria, Jordan who fought with them until they left and decided to be friendly with Israel. It is shameful Egypt and other Arab governments do not do more to help the people in Gaza and instead continue to use them as a proxy against Israel.
We have to separate Palestinians and Hamas, just as you would someone like Putin and Russians. If we can remove Hamas or at least the extremist elements, we can deradicalize the population. This will allow for a multilateral, two state compromise they are more likely to accept...eventually. If we can't do this, the cycle will repeat. Another Oct 7th, disproportionate response from Israel, temporary ceasefire.
We can't claim to support Palestinians if we continue denying the majority of them will not support a compromise at the moment, and we continue politicizing human rights in order to attack Israel instead of recognizing both sides responsibility. At a certain point you're either virtue signaling, have MAGA brain, or are just plain old antisemitic.

I'm genuinely confused about how exactly Israelis can claim moral superiority to Palestine when Israel was literally the initial agressor? Were they not colonialists that came from elsewhere??? In the 1920s there were barely any jews in present day Israel. As far as i can tell through the research of factual history the palestinians are far more related to the original people of the land pre ww1 aka the Ottoman Empire. The way that land was split up was entirely based on the deals between the major powers. The zionists simply had more political sway and allowed for the invasion of land in the name of a new country for people who havent lived there in millenia. P.S i love jews but zionists are so brainwashed it hurts. That or theyre inherently monsters and no better then the so called "terrorists".

We don't see natives running around blowing themselves up and murdering innocent people! And waaaaay more natives were killed than any amount of Palestinians.
