Just want to say here for those of you who can’t get your headrest out, there is a U clip, very thin metal clip on the far left of you are facing the front of the car in the back of the seat, it is seated on a black clip that holds the headrest bar… it pings off with a screwdriver…. Your headrest will then be free to release with the button. Thanks for this video, made the job stress free.
Removed the back panel. Couldn't remove headrest. Cussed all German engineers back to the third Reich. Watched video again, found this comment. Removed headrest like a pro, fixed both seats in under an hour. Promised to buy this guy a beer.
@@timmottram9307to reinstall the u shaped clip: use two cable ties fully tightened on the uprights of the clip halfway up. Guide one cable tie around the back of the plastic post. Align the bottom of the clip in the slot and push the clip home. Cut cable ties as short as you can and leave them for the next guy who will be amazed with your problem solving skills.
Did the job on a 2014 E400 with electric head rest adjustment today. To release the adjustment arm from the left hand seat post: use a thick piece of string and pull it down the shaft on the inside of the plastic clip using the vertical slots to pull it down. It will fill the recessed section of the shaft and allow the headrest to be pulled free. I did this with the headrest halfway up its travel.
Can't believe how I was struggling until finding this. I have an electric headrest so removing had an extra step but all good. How'd you put the u shaped spring back in after?
How to release the headrest from the electric motor that moves the headrest up and down? I have a small motor on the left that is connected to one rod of the headrest.
Got it , it took some time and almost lost it about 45 minutes in cause of the headrest but sure enough it all worked out and its beautiful now. The trim was a Pain in the A&$ as well but between the headrest gicing a little trouble and trim it was fairly easy. Took about a hour or so.
Fantastic video....replaced drivers seat handle on 2016 E220 today in 90 mins. Removing headrest required prising housing clip slightly to one side to wiggle headrest loose. Saved me £££'s ... many thanks. Top man 👍
thank you so much for watching and im glad i could help never thought so many people would find the video soo helpfull !! thanks for watching and commenting it means a lot i appreciate you guys
I’ve tried everything but I can’t actually get the headrest out. It sounds like it’s clicking on something or locking trying to get the headrest out. Is there something I’m not doing? I got the rubber clip out at 1:51 of your video but they aren’t going out at all. Thanks for any advice in advance
The headrest comes out super easy press the button on the side to lift it up when u get the headrest all the way to the top release the button then press it again and wiggle the headrest out hope that helps
I’m struggling where to put the cable because mine was broken and the cable wasn’t connected .. the cable to pull the handle I don’t know where to connect .. if someone can help..
I went in the a MB dealer today. They wanted $430 for the whole part. Online I found the whole part for $215. But only the chrome lever/handle was broken. Why replace the whole thing? I found the lever for $15. Big difference. This is a great video. 👍
Thank you going to try this …purchased the handles of eBay fir 30pds the silver has peeled of the original and keep cutting my fingers when pulling on it 😮
I just bought carbon fibre for £10 and took chrome of with blade and recoated with carbon using hairdryer look great took 20 minutes didn’t remove anything
Hey man thanks for the vid. I did my 2014 C 250 coupe a year ago and was almost the same procedure but did not have to release the seat cover to access the two bolts. When I got in there the plastic barrel section of the handle that wraps around the hinge was broken in half but still there so I used blue low stick painters tape to make a mold then a slow set , high strength 2 part epoxy ( gray JB weld ) to glue it back together without removing the whole assembly from the seat - had to release the cable so no tension though. Overnight cure and another coating for strength and its been working fine though it only gets used maybe twice per month . The part is just cheap plastic so if I do replace it will prolly coat with epoxy to give it some extra strength . Would have been nice if MB handle supplier had used 20% glass fiber in the part to give it enough strength .
Yeah these are a nightmare from merc and the passanger side always breaks as used the most of convertibles and coupes ! I guess theyre designed to break so merc can charge £400+ for the assembly ! Thanks for watching and the tip much appreciated 💪🏻
Thats the link for ebay where i bought it from mercedes part number for the whole assembly tho is A2079108906 as they do not sell the actual paddle on its own . Thanks for watching !
Key out the ignition and battery left on as i didnt disconnect the actual seat or airbag plugs no need to disconnect the battery and no faults on the car after completion 👍🏻
Hey thanks for the video. So with my Merc when i pull the handle the seat is not automatically going forward as it use to, to make space to get in the back. The passenger sear is functioning as it should only the driver side is giving problem. It could be a malfunction or just a matter of wire unplug. Can you please guide me
Hi Thanks for watching !! So i would start with removing the cover on the back of the seat once u do that all the wires attached to the handle and the actual locks which hold the seat in place will be exposed ! I would recommend inspecting the release wires first if all in order and moving when handle is pulled mu next stop would be examining the locks under the seat to which the wires go to maybe the locks are just seized as mostly when letting passangers in the back they would use passanger side ! If u struggling let me know i will do a video on my seat to guide you through it if needed ! Hope it helps
@@MacBerci To be honest I don’t think so the way the cable attaches to the handle is nearly completely different. unless I have a different year (2017)

Fantastic, mate! It was a massive faff, but beautiful explanation. I'll let you know when I get round to it - but if it takes me two hours, it's worth it- my son tore his arm somehow trying to get out with our ragged one. 😢
I can’t remove my headrest because my seat is fully automatic and therefore the headrest is attached to a battery with I can’t find a way to remove? Anyone can help me?
My handle was broken in half hence why i had to replace it but yeah youre right would be easy enough to wrap on the seat if anyone wants to colour change 👍🏻

Bro, i have C207 2012 e coupe, and after i raise the headrest all the way up using the door control, the headrest still doesnt pull out. C207 doesnt have that small button by the pull handle. I see silver geommet going around the bottom of the headrest post. Do i have to remove that forst, somehow, before the headrest completely pulls out?

Yeah , I have an electric button on car door that operates the head rest and I removed the silver grommets and still it's sticks and can't pull it all the way. Gonna have to put all pieces back now. Tried for a good 30 minutes no success 🤬
