    • @davelordy
      @davelordy ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Really ? Was there accountability here ? This officer was given special treatment throughout, if this was a member of the public they would be treated like absolute shit, for every nice word towards the cop, every _"I want to help you out here buddy"_ there will be a fractured eye socket and missing tooth for non-cops in the same situation . . and doubtlessly this cop will be given similarly preferential treatment when going through the legal system / courts.
      Remember this, the police, the courts, the police unions, his department and the legal system in general, from DAs to prosecutors, will go to enormous lengths to lessen (or even negate) any consequences for this officer breaking the law, without a shadow of a doubt the arresting officers on scene - after finding out it was a fellow officer, and in the absence of body cams - would happily have let this officer off, effectively facilitating his criminal behaviour - if you're in any doubt, listen to what is said in these sorts of interactions, the police all but admit it.
      And remember this - on the opposite side - when it's you and not a cop, then the police, the courts and the legal system in general, will go to enormous lengths to maximise consequences - including fabricating evidence and withholding exculpatory evidence - for you in the same situation.
      It only underlines how little accountability there is that people sit up and say _"Hey, wow ! Look ! A cop getting arrested for a crime !!"_ - even putting aide the preferential treatment.

    What makes this even more sickening is how he keeps mentioning his police status over and over, as if that makes him above the law!! I was with one of these kinds of drunks for 7 years and there’s no reasoning with them at all! Then the next day they are soooo apologetic but then do the same shit again and again. I was a deputy sheriff for a large department in Southern California. I hated it when other Leo’s thought they were above the law. Our job was to enforce the law and we were supposed to be examples. There were too many times when other Leo’s had more than one dui yet they were still employed. If your license is suspended then you can’t drive at all and that includes when we were at work. There are too many Leo’s who tint there windows past the legal, they sleep with people who they have somehow been involved in while they were at a crime scene, but that was usually in the ghetto neighborhoods. They wouldn’t put license plates on their cars even though all we had to do was fill out a dmv confidentiality form which protected our personal information from being found out. They would speed then hold their badges out of their personal vehicles to avoid getting tickets. One guy who I worked with and live near to would park his personal vehicle in two handicap spots, if they weren’t available he parks in the fire lane. We are retired but he still does this crap. What sucks is that he is one of the nicest guys who I ever worked with. When he was working he followed the law to a T and was extremely nice to people. He had 2 sons who are older than my oldest son who is 25. When my oldest son was in high school the other Leo’s son would sell the high school students alcohol and cigarettes. This was before vapes became the popular addictive. That son is now a Leo for the same department. His younger son took over the alcohol and cigarette business until he was hired as a cso by the same department. He was applying to be a Leo and is probably one now. I haven’t seen him in a while. But if you want to be a Leo you should be an example not an exception.
