    Shawn, thank you so much for this amazing demo of the Seventy 4! Very thorough control run through and great playing as always. Can't wait to hear the Eighty 7 demo. Maybe we can do a comparison vid of the Sixty 8, Seventy 4 and Eighty 7 some day.
    For those saying it sounds like a JCM800, remember the first master volume JMPs are the exact same circuit as the early JCM800. In order to get the Seventy 4 to cover the ground of both the metal face Plexi and the master volume JMPs, I had to add a little extra saturation in the higher end of the gain control. That 10k semi cold clipper second stage adds some extra odd order harmonics (most commonly heard as the fizz atop the notes in JCM800s). I tried to keep it as organic as possible without losing that Marshall cut. And well... who doesn't love a little more gain :D
    Love hearing everyone's thoughts and comments!

    That pedal is amazing! To me, it seems to retain all the organic tube tones you get from Marshall from that era. I like the fact that you played around the EQ and gain settings to give us a better idea what else it offers. My opinion thumbs up it’s a very versatile pedal. Thanks for the demo!

    Superb playing (love your style!) and an awesome pedal = 1 kickass combination! I really dug the tele into the 74! If I could only choose one pedal, I think the Seventy 4 would be my desert island pedal.

      @embreesmith7613 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MeTuLHeD not to bust on Shawn, but there were no 1970's "Plexis"
      they were metal panel "JMP" models

    • @MeTuLHeD
      @MeTuLHeD 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@embreesmith7613 There were also Super Lead 100's. There was even an 18 watt combo amp actually CALLED 'The 1974'. It was Marshall's take on a Bluesbreaker.
      But the actual designer of the pedal confirms it was based on a JMP in his comment above: "For those saying it sounds like a JCM800, remember the first master volume JMPs are the exact same circuit as the early JCM800. In order to get the Seventy 4 to cover the ground of both the metal face Plexi and the master volume JMPs, I had to add a little extra saturation in the higher end of the gain control."
      So he was shooting for something somewhere between the JMP and Plexi. Whatever the case, I think the pedal sounds killer.

    • @embreesmith7613
      @embreesmith7613 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MeTuLHeD Agreed, the LPD Pedal is spectacular
      I bought all those Amps when they were new
      the "JMP" models can not be called Plexi as they had a SS rectifier, which made the amp a lot stiffer

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@embreesmith7613 That may be true. I've always heard them referred to as "metal face" Plexi amps in the 70's. I screwed up my dialogue but...What else is new!!! ;)
