    You are the type of designer that I enjoy to be around with, very detail person, great job 😊

    Oh yes, wooden shelves instead of glass would be so nice. I like the idea of a drop zone. I’m learning so much from you, thank you so much for sharing.

    So glad you are back creating content for us Michael! Great kitchen. I agree with you about updating the shelving area and contrasting color on the island, but this kitchen appears to function beautifully. Great video. Thanks!

      Thanks so much! Pleased to be back at it! Yes, it's still a very functional kitchen, just some personal preference style changes really.

    Thank you for highlighting the imperfections of your own project. Very honest and modest of you.

    Love your content. This kitchen is very functional and has tons of storage. I’m obsessed with symmetry as well so I would make the changes you mention. For me this kitchen screams out for color and texture. Even beige can be made more interesting with variations of tone. A good lick of contrasting paint would do wonders. And some tiling of the backsplash. I like your idea of swapping out the glass shelves for wood. And I would carry over the tile to that area as well. Finally, definitely would address the venting. Originally I would have placed the stovetop against a wall. Cooktops on islands without powerful overhead venting just don’t work. And downdraft extractors are kinda useless: they even go against gravity. LOL. Hoping to see more regular posts. You’ve helped me with my own kitchen design! Take care.

      Thanks so much! I agree, a little bit more contrast and texture would really go a long way.

    I would be very happy with the space in this kitchen 🤔not sure about the colour of the cabinets but definitely agree with the suggested changes - layout is amazing - however I would definitely need some kind of extraction - lots of spicy cooking in this household 😂

      It's a lovely space isn't it! I agree, personally, I'd have some different colours/tonnes too 😊

    Well done. Love the pendant light details and specifically, the color match with the flooring. Smaller space design at least 5 fold tougher than larger space design. Timeless and classic!

    The main test is how the owners found it.
    It is impossible to say from the video whether this is the case in this kitchen, but one thing I dislike is a blanking panel below appliances, particularly ovens and warming drawers.
    Many consider it a waste of money to put a drawer there as it can take so little - but it is perfect for that grill pan no one knows exactly where to put when the oven is in use, and that second shelf which is so rarely used, but still gets dirty!

    • @kitchinsider
      @kitchinsider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true, thankfully they loved it.
      I agree, I don't like blanking panels either. My pet peeve is fixed drawer fronts on sink cabinets, even worse when there's a handle on it too!
      p.s - now blanking panels in this kitchen, it was all drawers under the ovens/warming drawer. 👍

      @Kitchinsider I don't like jumping to conclusions (unlike so many on TH-cam). Hence, my qualifier, which, in this case, was appropriate.
      In my kitchen, I no longer have that space under the ovens, so now I have a rather small space under the shelf in the cupboard above for those oven bits and pieces. I also have another apparently ridiculously small shelf in one of the base cupboards for chopping boards, aluminium foil, cooking parchment, and cling film.

    I agree about the stainless steels and glass shelves and brackets they need to go

    • @kitchinsider

      Yeah, it would just add some more warmth, texture and cohesion to the room I reckon! Still a lovely kitchen though.

    Nice! I would have put the bin at the right of the cooking area, as that is the place where I prep my veggies for cooking. The rests have to be dumped right away down below to the bin. But that’s just me 😊😊😊

    I won't go in design as it's not my field but fitting is. In my opinion (for what it's worth😊) the things burning my eyes are 1. Window-sill wings!. 2. 40amp red appliance switch on sink run (sparky still living in 1986? 😊) 3. Shocking door leveling 4. I know you were working with a fixed opening on the back wall run but the cutout on bottom off the right hand door !!! (You are allowed to blame the fitter 😊). Keep up the good work 👍👍

      Good eyes! I agree with you on these. Although I guess 7 years of use might excuse the door levels, they could be straightened back up pretty quickly. Cheers! 👍

    Michael, don’t know if you’ve seen Mark Tobin’s videos this week about REALM in the US? Is there a service like that available in the UK? They were talking about ROI which I suspect varies from country to country.

    Great video. I'm too scared to look back at some of my old kitchen designs; l would consistently see 100's " I wish I'd done that".
    With the handleless ranges, symmetry is critical; where you have the open space on the back wall, I'd reduce the wall space so there would only be one unit on both sides of the open area, with a niche or two built into the extended wall. I would have had a short wall unit brought forward, bridging the tall units with straight glass shelves but with a wood feature on the wall behind.
    I'd lose the wall units and add the additional tall unit with the savings to make the oven wall symmetrical. I'm not sure the oven combi is something customers today would not usually accept.
    Keep up the excellent work; seeing a Brit instead of the Yanks making this content is good.

    • @kitchinsider
      @kitchinsider  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would have been a nice touch on the back wall! I like it! 👍
      Cheers!

    I don't like the fridge placement. When you're cooking and need something you have to walk all around the island to get it. If the fridge was placed where the shelves were it would be easier acess. Also when you bring groceries in you can put them on the island at the and unload easier.

    Weird, over here depending on the energy efficiency rating of your home, ventilation to the outside (cooker hood) is not allowed. So it recirculating and then with an energy recuperating ventilation system (system D as it's called here). That's what we will have.
    The lack of pull out drawers in the tall cabinets was a bit baffling yeah. I understand why though, it is an expensive feature...
    Aside from the lack of a bit of colour somewhere, it is indeed still a very nice kitchen 🙂

    • @kitchinsider
      @kitchinsider  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting, it's not a ventilation system I'm too familiar with. Different rules and regs everywhere! Yeah, a couple little changes could really upgrade the kitchen. A lot is just personal preference too.
