Whatever role he plays is always so convincing. I love the singing voice of Juan Diego Flórez. No comparison!!! Every singer is unique and talented!!!

I could listen to the aria & duet starting at 25:18 every day. I don't know how they could have been sung any more beautifully than what JDF (and ND) did here.

That still very young then (only 28) JDF sounds wonderfully in this production! One can hear a great prelude to his amazing, masterly performance in "La Sonnambula" at Met eight years later (2009). At moments his voice is a bit insecure maybe, but still abolutely beautiful and captivating! What is most interesting and astonishing about this rendition: JDF sounds here obviously darker than later on! Bravissimo for him! And thanks once again!

Yes, Florez is the best Elvino. But Stefania Bonfadelli`s excellent technique is not enough to sing this difficult roll that forces a soprano continue high tones even. Nobody but Anna Moffo have realized this so difficult role completely. If Florez and Moffo jointed, it would be supreme.
Sonnambula was also sung by a certain Maria Callas who made us hear the role with the right colour of voice. Pasta was a high mezzosoprano and the Amina role rarely has a high C, so picchiettati and sopracuti have nothing to do with Amina and the vocality of Pasta. Malibran,Colbran and Viardot were equally high mezzos.
Stefania Bonfadelli war eine hervorragende Sängerin, leider musste sie wegen eines Hörsturzes ihre Kariere beenden. Ich habe diese Aufführung miterlebt und war begeistert.
