    At the Comstock Load in Virginia City Nevada, one of the largest known silver mines, when J Randolph Hearst bought the mine tailings he and his scientists went back and got the other half of the ore the first process missed. If it is cost effective it doesn't hurt to try. But mining is ALWAYS a risky business.

    Old tailing piles often hold missed gold. Old-timers sometimes only recovered about half the gold.

      I played in a band in Kalgoorlie, 1969/1973 "Acid Road" & "Kevin Bloody Wilson" There was tons of that sludge everywhere, who would have thought there was still gold in it, Geez I made some money playing

      @@11calman Modern tailing piles are not usually as rich, but they had the right process to extract what the mill could not. Old timer tailings are often better for nugget hunting.

    nice to see Paul's grumpy pessimistic old man proved wrong from testing the first tiny pan. he wasn't happy from the get-go but kudos to Paul for trying new things

    How/when was the mercury removed from the gold?

    • @angelfrankenfine
      @angelfrankenfine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they showed it on another episode, the entire process. the mercury eventually went through some sort of vaporizer tube/ chamber on the side and can be reused.

    If there's gold in the rocks,why not use a rock crusher to get the gold.
