WOWW!!! THIS IS SOOOO AWESOME!! I have the Sunshine Pakayak and I would LOVE to do trips like this! I've been paddling for almost a year and I take classes and paddle often with others to gain the skill and knowledge to do destination kayak trips. Thanks for sharing!
Hey thank you so much for the enthusiastic comment! I have had my Pakayak for 5 years and have been wanting to do longer trips with it for a while. I hope you get to go on cool adventures with yours!
I would really like to know, how did you both pack enough water for 13 days? Also, how did you coordinate a pick up with a boat after you circumnavigated the island? I am asking because I really, really, want to do this and just got back from a 7 day trip to Bahia de Los Angeles.
We both had around 55L of water in our boats in water bags. We communicated with our pick-up panga through our InReach device. We stashed extra food and water at our pick spot in case the panga would be delayed. I hope this helps! 🙂
There is an "I survived" true story tv show about this island where 3 men were stranded and one of them died. Look it up! Its an excellent show/crazy true story. The 2 men who didnt die were miraculously saved
Also I would be terrified of sea snakes and sharks in the water being so low in a kayak, and also while paddling in open water having the current take you out to sea.
right there's two that i've watched a few times. they're on youtube; I Shouldn't Be Alive | Death in the Sea of Cortez | S04 E05 The Fight for Survival - I Shouldn't Be Alive - S01 E08
