This is giving me so many ideas! Faerie dragons seem perfect for a "villain" of a small "arc" (1-3 sessions) in a longer campaign to add a little levity. Or give your party a faerie dragon companion that gets up to hijinks and draw them into it!

Fairy dragon dungeon. I was thinking about making a campaign with one of these creatures. The fairy dragon being as evil as it can never be which is more mischievous than anything in the most annoying way possible. Basically I want to start off the dungeon being one room with three treasure chests. A small riddle for the players to solve but the trick is that each one of them have a magic black powder inside that will flood the room. No matter which one you open it's the same result. They're meant to engulf the players and teleport them to one room inside a deeper layer of the dungeon. Depending on which one you open is where you start. Each player become small like Honey I shrunk the kids making any animal or situation much larger than what it normally would be. You take the map that you drawn out and bring out a second layer for that which would be much larger. Now the fairy dragon will mess with the party with illusions which can be dangerous with creatures like rats within the dungeon. Normal hit points apply to them. One of the goals intended is to either kill the fairy dragon or to leave the dungeon alive. Both results will return you to your normal size.

    Awesome, man!
    Encounter idea:
The adventures enter a cave and perhaps they enter a small 8x8ft room with nothing but a door at opposite ends. There’s a strange mist in the room, but nothing else.
The door opens to a long tunnel that just seems to keep going, until eventually there’s a side passage leading into a massive room.
When they wander inside, several huge-sized multi-colored dragons drop down into the room from the ceiling including one immediately behind them.
They proceed to bat the adventurers around sending them kareening across the room to smash into walls or each other, but these hits deal only 1 or 2 damage and very little even from their impacts with the walls. Every time they land a hit on the adventures, the dragons will say things like, “Bam!”, or when using what looks like lightning breath, “Bzzzzapp!” Insert other appropriate onomatopoeiasas needed.
The dragons laugh with fake maniacal laughter, when the adventurers try to hit them, and spout off with random super villain monologue lines.
When they finally get hit, they pretend the wound is fatal even though it’s comparatively tiny and- well you get it.
It’s a bunch of faerie dragons who summed up their power to cast a delayed effect reduced size spell on the adventurers, so that when they kept walking down the tunnel which was shrinking, just as the adventurers were, no one noticed.
The fae dragons just wanted to pretend at being big dragons for a bit.

D&D needs to do a Oblivion clone with Skyrim controls, and use their hard mature stories from the 80s. That would definitely bring their boot down heavy and let everybody know who is the daddy of Skyrim, Warhammer, Elden Ring, etc. They need to leave the modern romance ya stuff alone and just get HBO Sopranos level mature.

With the village in chaos, the hoomies roamed the village, plucking and collecting wings, encasing some in jars that were likely magical. It all took but a few minutes. When done the wizard cast a portal spell and they raiders simply left. My innate magic allowed me too trace them. I will find my friends and the hoomies?? The other issue for pronunciations of Gaelic come down to dialects and accents, which, as someone who mostly just has to contend with Southern US English, can be a nightmare to sort through.

This made me envision a large cave, resounding with hissing, gnarling, generally just "dangerous" sounds, fitting for an ancient Red, thundering throughout the entire cave, only for a tiny faerie Dragon to angrily stomping (think the Way small parrots stomp around) towards the Party.
Think of the scene where the Terrible Terror is revealed in How to train your Dragon, or the scene where Mushu introduces himself to Mulan (giant Shadow, tiny Dragon).
The whole Setup suggests a way bigger creature, the faerie Dragon uses the cave to amplify the sounds it makes to sound bigger and scarier, to hopefully scare potential attackers away. And when it finally reveals itself, it puffs itself up to look bigger.
    It'd be just too cute!

Now here's a question - If a fun lil prank goes horribly wrong, toes the fairy dragon, being inherently feel bad? Like... @AJPickett - I defend Fizban's Treasury in three ways:
    1. I believe the updates to chromatic, metallic, and gem dragonborn racial features puts them in the S-tier of all PC races. An aarakocra all of a sudden doesn't seem quite so mechanically gifted vis-à-vis a gem dragon at 5th level (flight? Yessir). Aarakocra can fly, but do the have breath weapons that will do damage types as strong as radiant, force, and psychic, to narrative-rich necrotic and thunder (say, a sapphire gem dragonborn who flies around the stage, punctuating their performance with a Freddie Mercury boom in the finale). And those resistances. Oh those resistances. Resistant to psychic damage? Radiant? Force? Astonishing.
    2. The notes written by fizban himself are a direct flight back to my 11 year old self taking a chance of a big fat book at the local Warrenbooks--Dragonlance Chronicles
    3. It's a last stand for those like me who love dragons. The 5e designers could not have made a more concerted, tone-deaf attempt at diminishing all things draconic.

@@AJPickett The stories are grey there. Some say the red was in their hair, making them gingers. The Irish did eons of fighting over even the details of their myths.
These opposing things are also true: Leprechauns coveted god for various reasons. Leprechauns only collected gold because humans valued that silly metal.
What Leprechauns drink, can drink, and want to drink is also a never-agreed-upon thing in all of Irish culture. The passionate debates are often shouted about over pints of spirits and stronger smaller cups and glasses.
From my various folklore research, they generally follow Leprechaun folklore but the details always seem to be in the ID of those who are "totally sure" of that very detail. So, because of that, for AD&D Leprechauns, I default to the AD&D version with the "open for local homebrew" card on the table.
The most commonly accepted version is the Saint Patrick version, I won't go into my gripes about that "totally really real story about a saint" story. It's a green-clad little person with pointed ears that dresses very much like a Puritan in general style with a shillelagh (battle stick with which St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland). I mean, buckles everywhere and the stupid pipe, really? Oh, a short green-clad shillelagh donning guy smoking a pipe who covets gold that he hides at the end of a rainbow whose clothes are Puritan-themed is not at all suspect, right? That offends every non-Catholic Irishman who is well-read... and Irish Catholics who see that Leprechauns are linked to their stories and imagery. **Insert drunken people on both sides screaming about the other making this the opposite side's version**
Leprechauns are just Irish Fey, Irish Fae, Irish Fairies, Irish Faeries, etc. From what I looked into and got to understand on who and what they are as faeries... they are pranksters who make Irish people fight about the details about them. Whenever a community gets comes to a good consensus as to who and what they are, they use their magic to "prove" that wrong and stir the pot.
Sorry about this rant... I have a *LOT* of Irish ancestors, my 2nd biggest bloodline, and my 1st biggest word-of-mouth story source. When I even think of adding Celtic fey into AD&D, it almost feels like I am blaspheming against just about everything because of the grey areas and the pop-culture (even centuries-old) misinterpreted tropes.
This post I just posted will make everyone who has a "totally solid" "well-researched" and "absolutely clear totally accurate" account of Leprechauns go red-faced screaming of how I know nothing, I am stupid, etc etc etc... all the way to questioning my sanity, bringing in religion, quoting "scientific" research of these mythical (fictional) beings, and going even Fox News on me.
So, did they wear red? Yes. Did they not? Yes. Was the read because they are all Gingers? Yes. Is the red because they are Gingers who wear red? Yes. Is the red nothing to do with them? Yes. So, could the red be because they don't wear red? Yes. Could the red be because they are not Gingers? Yes. Could the red actually be a red herring? Yes. Literally, every question is "Yes"... on the details level. Leprechauns were hard to find, always were, but seemed to challenge Humans to find and chase them. So, they liked to play hide-and-seek with random people by enticing them with what they saw as valuable... but wore crap that would make it easy? Or... wore that crap at the challenge, and like Humans, can change their clothes. It's like people think mythical creatures that (if they exist) can remain in the realm of mythology while being stupidly predictable... as if they are projecting their issues upon such mythological creatures.
Personally, I'd rather not deal with a Leprechaun. If I ever caught one and he gave me wishes, I'd ask him to live his best life and make me forget I caught him. That would all be for the best.

Random spelcasting (maybe as legendary action or something?). In HoMM 3, it was few spels it might randomly cast, but it would be more intresting if they can cast (atleast once per battle) a random spell that can literaly be any spell in exsistance (and afcourse, they themselfs have no idea what spell will be cast :). It could be something very usefully, something that is completly useless (atleast in this situatsion) or even harmfully for party/itself if realy unlucky. HoMM3 fairy dragons had fair change to cast chain lightning at worst moments, lol
