As a guitarist myself I have to comment:
Listen to the song again and pay close attention to what the guitarist is actually playing throughout the song (Electric guitar on the right speaker). There's more to the guitar part then you might think. You don't want to be the guy who simplifies every song he plays to just strumming chords. Always pay attention to detail to improve technique and approach learning every song like this. That way you can learn to play like every kind of guitarist. As you improve at this you can pick characteristics from the playing of your favorite guitarists and come up with your own style. You have to think of the guitar as an instrument for melody as well as chords and put the 2 together. I'm not trying to be mean, I just think this can help you.

@@chatadaroach3036 I see this all the time, where people don't actually learn the song and just google the chords. Yet a lot of non-musician would call them talented. The way music is marketed in the music industry nobody cares about genuine guitar/piano anymore which encourages people who pick up an instrument to become lazy.

@@chatadaroach3036 It's important to know what chords are being played because that's what the song is based on. If you were to play a song example Attention by Charlie Puth, you could slap a capo on the first fret and strum Dm C Am7 Bb. But if you listen to the, that's not what the guitar part (It's actually recorded with MIDI, not guitar) is playing. Or if you play thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran instead of just strumming D G A, learn to play the riff as it was played originally. If you want to make it your own style, add to it more guitar phrases rather than giving a lazy dumbed down version of the song. Keep up the practice and you'll go somewhere if you practice the right way with the right attitude.
