Not cutting, your grinding. I would hate to grind 100's with that jig, but you did say that.

Yes, I did :) I use a dedicated router table and a specialized cutting bit for it for commercial quantities. With that setup it takes exactly 8 seconds per box (not per board) to cut handles.

Bought the finger joint jig also. Safest jigs I've been able to find under $1k. I've now made over 200 boxes this week, plenty fast enough for me.

I got that from him as well, like 2 years ago and its still in the darn box...didnt have the time to fool with it, so i purchased a $4500 box joint machine made to cut beehive boxes. Cuts same quality as the man lake boxes. My customers love them.

Hey man. Great videos. I've been watching and learning. Gonna build my own from boards next year. Appreciate all the great info on woodworking. :)

Funny brother :) Were all here on a journey of learning, me included. You stick around my channel long enough and ill learn as much from you as you will from me.

So based on this video I went ahead and bought this jig and wouldn't you know my old Rockwell 15-069 drill press doesn't have enough clearance. The recommended fix is to use a 6" grade 8 bolt, as seen in this video. I'm here to tell you it's crazy scary even at lower RPMS. I'm sure you will blame my drill press but with the short bolt it is as smooth as butter. I tried several different grade 8 bolts from two sources and the chatter I get is crazy.
After spending 5 minutes to carefully cut just one handhold I can tell you it felt like the thing was coming apart. The flex in even grade 8 bolts is just too much.

Cutting? More like grinding. Its a very simple jig to build. I'm go8ng to be searching for the grinder stone. However it seems that it could create enough friction to burn the wood.

Yea that was a video from the previous owner. Check out the machine I got when I bought him out. Very nice but selling for around $4000. You can go to my other channel at Pop Pops Bee's and I made a sled last year and posted the link in the comments for that one. I cut close to 3000 handles using it.

I think i mentioned in the video that this would not be suitable for high production shops, but this channel caters to the home and DIY beekeeper.

@@markwebb9431 When i make a video, I do not say that the method used in any particular video is "the best" way. There are a dozen ways to cut handles in boxes. I do not actually use this jig to cut handles. I did it more as a review of this method as I had purchased this jig. In my shop, I actually use a dedicated router table and a specialized cutting bit for it for commercial quantities. With that setup it takes exactly 8 seconds per box (not per board) to cut handles. I will make multiple videos on how to do certain things so that all methods are eventually covered. This channel is for educational purposes, figuring out the best way to do things and allowing my viewers to see multiple ways and make their own decisions based on what i show them. Im not claiming that you must do it my way. Im just creating an environment for experimentation so we can see what works best together.

@@FunnyBugBeesandWoodWorks , thanks for taking the time to produce this video for us. It is much appreciated. With that said, however, can you provide a link to the video that you did concerning cutting the handles with your router please? I cannot seem to find it in your list of videos. Thanks :-)

Bro why don’t you just use cleat handles? Way easier to assemble and imho way more effective in the field.😅
