Hey, thanks again for this tuning demo. I wrote in earlier. I decided on the PDP for my daughter. Kids these days. I have no idea where she is getting this … she listens to lots of music of course, but doesn’t yet have her ear attentive to drums per se. Except she must because I first tuned intuitively the New Yorker pretty high tension and immediately without hesitation she wanted it tuned down. I started YouTubing PHAT retro drum tones and I took the PDP down as low and PHAT as I could with the stock heads. She liked that much better. I keep tweaking it , searching for the best intervals. and boom I have come full circle back to this video. Thank you.
I saw this set through a storefront home studio window on a dog walk. I was really impressed by the appeal and compact footprint. I’m looking for a starter set for my daughter.. the pale rose has quite a look. I do wish that shell packs ,especially for starter options , came with logical hardware sets. I’ve almost worked that out now , which was a chore for a guitarist. It’s down to this compact shell set , hopefully my correct hardware choices, and some Sabin b8’s off Craigslist… or… a Mapex Venus Fusion complete set. This New Yorker sounds pretty great here (to my newbie/guitarist ears) and a 4 piece seems like a better starting point for a 14 year old. Any thoughts? I have the PdP down to almost the same cost as the Mapex Venus(a bit more for a better throne… and I’m pretty sure 2nd hand Sabians are better than the stock Mapex hi hat and crash)… What would you buy between these 2 starter scenarios that also take looks into consideration? Just bought the Concept Maple Bop and it’s fantastic. Ordered the ebony snare to match today. Next, PDP hardware. Great job PDP!!
