I'll give it a shot. I would have thought Mercedes would have field tested that way before full scale production. Especially if the fix is so simple and no cost involved.
Disconnecting the center speaker is not the way to go as Mercedes has a recall - L182.85-N-071147 - and there is a free fix for this problem! The fix is not just removing the connector, but swapping 2 wires inside the connectors which Mercedes can do quickly and easily. The difference in the sound is simply incredible once this is done, you will have a decent stereo!!!
I have a ‘24 that is two weeks old and it still sounds terrible, just as my ‘21 did. I’ll look into your suggestion but with my ‘21 I just disconnected the wire and it IS a big improvement.
I believe Mercedes has a Service Bulletin on this. It involves changing the wires on the speaker, not disconnecting it, which can affect the sos. Here's a quick fix that worked for me - buy a black hand towel or two, fold it, and place it on top of the speaker.

Wow! Thanks for the update. I'll have my local dealer take care of it.
Anyone know if this is true for a 2017?
Great video! Love this tip!
audio system sounds great now. Thank you for video. Quick and easy fix.
Mercedes has a fix for the center speaker issue. Swapping the wires is all you have to do, 5 minutes . Video on my channel…. So much better!
Great idea! What's the name of your channel?

Mercedes SOS works off center speaker. Disconnecting it will make the feature not work. However many people do this and done care for that feature
Good to know. Thx
It does but you still have two tweeter speakers on the dash that continue to work.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it.
This looks easy to do. So - does this completely disconnect the center speaker?
