Why aren’t you showing us the actual rituals of mating so we can see it ourselves when it happens, instead of just talking about it and showing us pictures of chickens ?
THANK YOU for a very informative video. There was constant, well edited and superbly narrated content & I learned a great deal about CHICKENS ! It is plain that you KNOW your stuff. You laid out an enormous amount of information about chickens, breeding, behaviors, feeding habits, first aid, etc. I had a friend, many years ago, that had 2 chicken houses, about a hundred yards long. All automated silo-fed screw type feeders and overhead waterers and could close gates to split the houses in size for the size of the chicks. He and I worked together, and when Conagra would be bring him a fresh batch of chicks, in a changed-over adapted school-bus, He would tell me at work when, and I would go down to his place and he would have the Conagra delivery driver, put the plastic crates of chicks onto a car-hauler trailer. He would back the trailer up close to the closed door (the first half of the giant chicken-house), and his wife would take over driving and would very slowly drive to the other end of the house. Meanwhile, me and 3 others on the ground, (2 on each side), would take the trays handed to us by my buddy, riding on the back of the trailer on one side, (& a neighbor standing on the back of the other side of tge trailer, and we would broadcast gently swing the tray, dumping the chicks out, close to the straw covered ground and they would scamper every which way! Pandemonium in the extreme!!! The biggest problem was to keep up with the driving rate and not step on a chick, as it sped by. It was a grueling 30 to 45 minutes, but we spread 30,000 chicks in a house, closed that door and went to the next house. Our breather was the length of time it took the seasoned delivery man to reload the car hauler trailer and my buddy to back it down the second house to the half door, & switch drivers and go again. I did that every time he started a new batch of chicks. He would let me come down, after the workers caught out all the chickens. The feisty ones that would outrun the catchers were left there. I would go down there and catch them and take them home. My family and friends had plenty of frozen chickens to eat. WOW...I WROTE A BOOK 😜 THAT was over 30 years ago...felt like it was last week, while I was typing.
My alpha roo treats the hens well and even rescued my dog from another roo. He picks up food and drops it for them while the other roos are jive turkeys. I have a lot of love and respect for him.
I absolutely LOVE your videos! Keep them coming! I sure hope to see this channel sky rocket. I would to know more about how to break a broody hen. And what happens to the dynamics of the flock when the alpha hen goes broody. This is happening to us right now. The lowest on the pecking order has waged an all on war with a hen right above her. Attacking her until she bleeds, unwarranted random attacks for know reason, etc. I would love to get the alpha off the nest and back into the group to bring the balance back. Heeeelllp!
I bought six hens a few years back. Didn't need a rooster because I was raising them for their eggs. Free ranged them in the summer, and brought them inside to spend winter with extra light and warmth... A few years into it my neighbor bought a rooster and let it free range with my girls. I was horrified by it and the girls came home beat up with feathers all being pulled out around the back of the neck and back. I never replaced them, and now I would have a rooster. This next spring...
I've had my girls for 4 years (8), 1 for 9 years & this year my neighbors got 1 baby rooster & 1 baby hen. Long story short, they asked if I would take their birds. I now have 10 happy hens & 1 REALLY happy rooster!
It would have been nice to actually see video of the mating ritual or what you are taking about instead of stock video if chicken's. Information is good but examples would help.
I love your videos but heres a very interesting info: there are monogamous chickens! The malay breed rooster is likely to only bond with one hen or two hens and will go out of his way to fight other roosters unlike most modern breeds that prefer not to fight.
I have only silkie roosters but I have other breeds of hens in with them. Is it possible for them to fertilize regular hens? Is this ill advised should I separate them?
That’s perfectly fine.I have one Silkie rooster and a few standard roosters and a few other bantam roosters. They all get along and All my hens are fine with him breeding them.
Will siblings from the clutch of eggs breed with each other? Also, will males breed with their own mother? If so, does that create any problems with the babies?
I had one of my chickens attacked by a hawk and she had a gaping hole in her side. She was in shock and I didn’t want to give her stitches so I use superglue gave her a shot of antibiotics and she recovered super well and was not traumatizing for.
I have almost 13wks old pullets and 2 cockerels. One cockerel is definitely more mature appearing and started to crow at about 5wks of age! My question is will a cockerel breed with a hen even though she isn't at egg laying maturity? I have caught the cockerel mating one of the hens, and all the information that I understand, she's not mature. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thank you!
She runs from him because she doesn’t want to be bred. They only desire to be bred periodically, but roosters are total F boys, and they are in hot pursuit of getting laid many times per day. I see our rooster, mounting hens five times or more every hour. Sometimes it’s the same hen and sometimes it’s a different one, his choice I guess. Roosters are very amorous, whether the hens are feeling it or not.
I'm just thankful the rooster can mate on his own and I don't have to milk him and impregnate the chickens myself. I saw how a pig farmer impregnated a pig.....😳😱 I could've went my whole life without seeing that.
Great info, but video DOESN'T show us what your telling us. SUPER disappointed because the info sounds great! Fix that and you will have the perfect video!
The narration at each stage has nothing to do with the accompanying video shown. And there is no even schematic drawing of what is being explained. At the end this video doesn't deliver much of it promises.
Why aren’t you showing us the actual rituals of mating so we can see it ourselves when it happens, instead of just talking about it and showing us pictures of chickens ?
why dont you just look up a different video if you wanna see chickens having sex so bad
Man😂😂😂
Informative but wouldve liked to see film that correlates instead just random chickens
Go find yo self chicken porn elsewhere 🤣
Worth listening to, but not worth watching. Unfortunately the entire video is only random pictures of chickens.

all bdg is zynfeI
FYI, cloaca is pronounced with three syllables "clo" (long o) "a" (long a) "ca" (short a) with the accent on the middle syllable.
Me watching this video on speaker on my phone.
Video: Hi, we're going to be talking about "how do chickens mate".
My girlfriend: Oh god...
My alpha roo treats the hens well and even rescued my dog from another roo. He picks up food and drops it for them while the other roos are jive turkeys. I have a lot of love and respect for him.
You're a jive turkey ma'am.
Elmer the barred Cochin tries to lure the hens with little pieces of sticks. If that’s not a jive turkey, I don’t know what is.😂
I absolutely LOVE your videos! Keep them coming! I sure hope to see this channel sky rocket.

Outstanding - just what I needed to know.

After mating will the hen lay the fertilized eggs in a clutch or a an egg or two per day?
It's an egg or two per day

Fascinating show! Thanks.
Best chicken channel I have found.Subbed

My roosters are definately already getting on my hens of the same age as yours.
wow its cute i 💗 chickens ty for everything🙀😻😻😻
Would like to see visual examples of
Roosters have major fboy energy😂
Your video is as useful as my breeding steer.
Can you make a video on how you know your hens were mated with?
Ce qui est merveilleux c'est qu'il ne faut que 21 jours pour former un merveilleux poussin et aussi l'incroyable formation d'une coquille d'oeuf
why do you think a hen runs from a roster as if she doesn't want to mate with him?
She runs from him because she doesn’t want to be bred. They only desire to be bred periodically, but roosters are total F boys, and they are in hot pursuit of getting laid many times per day. Its just asif if it was an audiobook we were listening to...no visual representation
good video thanks
Man.. this is basically the same way we do it. We se who’s the best male/female then maybe become gf & bf then maybe …m-mate. Lol
Can a small rooster fertilize larger hens? He certainly tries. Thanks!
Yes I have a Japanese bantam rooster that sits on eggs and helps raise the chicks...
What makes hens to be broody??
I'm just thankful the rooster can mate on his own and I don't have to milk him and impregnate the chickens myself. I saw how a pig farmer impregnated a pig.....😳😱 I could've went my whole life without seeing that.
thanks now i know about chickens mating not just me mating with my girlfriend.
Ay yo! Well……I’ve seen chickens mate so…😅
😳
Well at least he pays for dinner first.
Do you feed your Roosters the same thing as the Hens?
Sounds alot like taking down the death star aka stay on target
In other words, a lot like human…😂
I call the rooster dance the griddy
macho macho man. This should drive the feminists wild.
JUST LIKE YOU DO.
Great info, but video DOESN'T show us what your telling us. SUPER disappointed because the info sounds great! Fix that and you will have the perfect video!
How did I wind up here???
Some illustration would have helped. Don't know a whole more than I did before watching the video.😞
🥱😻ok its cool
sorry i whas just jokeing its marwilus
Very quickly.
You failed to show us what they actually DO ... I'm none the wiser 😮
4:47 sounds just like a woman😂
Same way
how to remove other male breed rooster sperm from other breed hen??
The narration at each stage has nothing to do with the accompanying video shown. And there is no even schematic drawing of what is being explained. At the end this video doesn't deliver much of it promises.
Do the males have an enjoyable ejaculation ?
Just from observation, it would seem so. I see NO signs of the hens sharing this orgastic pleasure. It seems like chicken rape to me often…
It’s the poultriarchy
All this guy does is talk about it, nothing was shown at all!
Everything except "how do Chickens mate". lol
Not watching!! Who cares about chickens gettin'it on!!! 😕
Reminds me of our pm.
Perhaps your pm’s mother? She would mate with anything!
Bro my roostee tries to screw with a chicken and falls off because hes a silkie and the other one is a fat meat one😂
