- Step 1: Put significant damage into an enemy plane while they are taking off in an attempt to get them to flee the vehicle, but do not kill them unless they get out. (I have had the most success by shooting the plane head on and aiming for their propeller. By hitting enough accurate shots, this will disable their engine. Another very viable option if I don't have the right angle, is to put about 90% damage into their plane to the point where they think I'm going to actually destroy the vehicle. Sometimes you also may get very lucky as seen in a few of these clips where the player just got out of their vehicle without me having to do anything.)
Step 2: Hope that the player is actually dumb enough to get out of their plane (I have had the highest success with this at the very start of matches and with low level players. However, I have managed to get high level players to do this too as seen in the clip where I stole a max upgraded experimental-skinned zero lol)
Step 3: Kill the player once they get out
Step 4: Land your plane quickly and efficiently because their plane will blow up and de-spawn in a short time after abandoned. I found that the best way to do this is to dip your wing into the water, which cuts speed very quickly. The supercharger upgrade on your plane can be helpful for this if you haven't fully mastered the wing dip yet. Land your plane as close to theirs as possible since you only have 10 seconds to run to their plane when you get out of yours. You can even exit your plane before it touches the ground as seen in some of these clips.
Step 5: Steal the enemy plane, start getting a bunch of kills with it, and let the hate mail/hackusations begin. You will likely see more and more players hop on AA guns, pull out flieger, and start shooting up at you with their guns as if that is actually going to do anything.
And for those that may be wondering... no, the enemy does not end up with my plane in these clips. Reason 1 being that it will despawn in a very short time when abandoned. And reason 2 being that the same players to exit their vehicles aren't smart enough to try to go back and take mine anyways lol
