I recently heard an audio clip of Berbatov explaining the third goal. He said that Vidic told him in Serbian to run across him while Vidic used his body to block Di Santo. That's why as soon as the ball went in, Vidic was chasing Berba and yelling something to the effect of "I told you!" at him.

I remember watching this live. Incredible sensations. I was watching all United games because of Berbatov and getting mesmerized by his and Cristiano's play. Since then I also started watching Cristiano in Real Madrid and although I'm an Atletico Madrid fan, I celebrated his goals when he wasn't playing against Atleti. For me he is the undisputed GOAT.

They tore the teams apart. Such a shame that they didn't win the CL and FA Cup that year.
This is just a classic performance by Manchester United, back in the 07/98 season which was very much back around our hood ole Glory days 😂😂😂💪🏿. We really were able to tear it up so much and give such chilling high class performances for the fans and people watching the match on TV and in the stadiums too! I actually really loved football of that era to be honest with you fam.

No we don't. This unimportant goal was the only goal he scored for ManUtd against a top5 team.
It summed him up that he'd score near the end vs Chelsea to make it 3-0 here but then the following season in this fixture where if we don't lose we win the PL we're 1-2 down he has a chance near the end and hits it straight at Cech....and even the following week vs Blackburn, ManUtd's last chance no more pts allowed to be dropped it finished 0-0 he's again hitting it straight in the middle to the GK. The record 4 in a row is lost.
Then sods law the following season he scored 5 in 1 game vs the same opponents ManUtd would've won that fixture anyway....then he costs ManUtd the FAcup by again scoring none when it matters vs ManCity in FAcup semi-final 2 glaring misses at 0-0 lost 1-0 would've only had Stoke in the final.
It just didn't work out for him at ManUtd. By far the biggest club he played for in his career and he just didn't have what it takes to be a successful player at a big club who want silverware the pressure got to him.

@@tjseries3057 Bayern had a decently strong team if not too strong. Our team was riddled with injuries with that clueless Moyes handling everything in the worst possible manner. On top of that, we lost RVP in the second leg.

Because he's BerbaFLOP.
This was the only competitive game he played vs a top5 team that he scored in his 4 year ManUtd career.
Only scored 5 Champions league goals as well in those 4 seasons also. None against any elite CL teams and all group stage goals.
He failed to win FAcup or Champions league in his career despite spending a long time in England playing for 3 different clubs and played for a ManUtd team with Ferguson as the manager. Didn't win Champions league with any other foreign team he was at either.
Always remember this game because the first goal from the corner should never of been ruled out. Was clever, quick thinking.

I’m a Chelsea fan but was at School in York so of course up North most support was on ManU’s side. The fans bragging were insane going into school on Monday morning. I was in Year 6, so Y6 and Y5 knew plenty about football and yeah they all went mad. As a Chelsea fan I’ll admit, we played absolutely crap!
