You're echoing a lot of what Garry Tan says, and it's great advice. love your frequent use of case studies and examples, really helps pull the viewer in. Looking forward to you blowing up!
Michael...this is my most favorite couture channel. Keep going. Do not get discouraged because you don't get the number of subscribers you deserve. Over time you will get what you deserve. Nowadays... I use youtibe only to hear some music and to watch your videos repeatedly.♥️
A bit late but thank you for this video. Another thing that is often overlooked at start-ups is the funding. As you said, the needs aren't the same if a part of your capital has been invested in something you can sell back (well you didn't say it that way, but I guess it's implied when you speak about services with very few infrastructure), which means services are a major for main for start-ups, which in turn should let people question how their business is funding at the very start and growing. Typically, the need for a franchise expansion would infer a recapitalization for funding, and that recapitalization is really a big point for start ups; I don't have the up to date numbers but recapitalization happens earlier and is more than double for start ups than it is for classic enterprises, meaning in turn that the founders parts are either smaller, reducing both ownership's reality and decision making autonomy, and/or that the growth is de-correlated of the investments value, needs and possibilities. Some could call it a forced course.
For some reason 2:48 (thinking about this in terms of intersections and that there are theoretically an infinite number of them) really struck me. Wonderful illustrated in way I had never considered…great production…great video
How does this video only have 10k views. I started watching him for his sports videos and stubbled across this. This is gold. My wife is just starting a skin studio where she gives facials and sells skincare products and I can't wait to have her watch this. She is really good but gets easily discouraged. I think this will be encouraging to her.
When finding the intersections it usually helps to be a customer than an employee, most things can be spotted from the outside or sourced from someone on the inside
Interesting on the intersections. I realized online entrepreneurs and freelance writers didn't have a health community or coach after working in worksite wellness and freelance medical writing.
Interesting to see the view counts on your videos. You must’ve put a lot of effort and money upfront to get this channel going. Your videos themselves are high tier quality, though! Hopefully you continue to find your niche.
Another great video Michael! I’m sure you hear this a lot, but your content is heavily underrated. Keep going! Just a question of time before the viewers flock to your channel
Felt this video really hard. I have a separate channel here on TH-cam that I do content with. This is mostly where I do my browsing. Love finance but found that space is pretty crowded to say the least but after doing trades on Twitter deal and stuck in the agony that is the AMC arb, I start following corporate law and some of these bankruptcy cases and got a decent channel but more importantly someone who saw my work and soon might be doing video content for their law website. Who knows that might build a portfolio of content that takes me to more offers and end up with my own little studio.
Mine was an accidental business. I thought of a funny solution to a common problem, needing to pee during movies, and decided to build an app to solve this problem. But I built the app as a demonstration of my skills to be a freelance developer. I didn't actually expect the app to take on a life of its own and become my primary source of income.
Amazingly helpful video, 5 minutes in and had to pause bc I made a huge realization in my life, took about 1 hour to finish this video bc of the stimulated brain activation it gave me I had to keep writing more notes 😂 keep making more videos!
Thanks man! I appreciate that…putting in the work to make valuable content. Won’t be as frequent as other creators as we are spending a significant amount of time with each video (and I have a full time regular job lol), but we want to make something with a decent amount of depth each and every time. Comments like this provide some much needed fuel!
how can we identify bs? i keep coming across business owners who all have this amazing, unbelievable story where they just did this one thing and everything lined up for them and then they were suddenly financially free but they didn't want to relax because they were so great and they instead made 20 more businesses in only like 10-12 years and everything always worked out flawlessly for them and all the people wanted to work for them for a dead average salary because the owner is so great and everyone is in love with him.
Def not “just one thing”. I think it’s the continual bargaining with one’s future self…trading off today for tomorrow (as Hallmark as that sounds). I made about $20k my first year…but this was because I went into a field (advising) with little present value…everything flowed into the future value (by nature of the the business…but this is true for any business, typically). We seem to overestimate these types of risks (starting a business with little overhead, and trading a $60k starting salary in my case for $20k)…that doesn’t mean we should be reckless, but there are plenty more secrets (intersections and even new domains) to be found. Beyond that, don’t listen to people like me - work hard at something you enjoy, and the opportunity will present itself (then do the math to see if it’s legit lol). I find that it is fairly obvious…for example, at one point in my career I realized I could increase my revenue by 50% if I created my own RIA (rather than work for a big firm)…I only realized this after working with people enough to find that their biggest concern wasn’t the company, but instead “me”. The company was somewhat interchangeable. So the move made sense…I took a pay cut via added expenses for a year…then the larger ownership began to payoff. We tend to overestimate what we can do in a few days/weeks and overestimate (greatly so…) what we can do in a few months/years. Hope that helps
Very interesting. I just hit 35, and I'm on my 4th business venture. I feel I lack in focus because It seems like passion wanes day to day. I made huge strides with experience, but I gotta say, I'm tired.
I make business and personal finance videos in my main channel. Just discovered you..and you know what I'm completely fine with my video gaining 2 views when a valuable masterpiece like this gets 11k..subscribed and inspired !!

This video is awesome. It's Inspiring, succinct and simple, but doesn't recycle obvious info. Thanks Michael!

It’s so true…

Just want to leave a comment here and say you are going to have 1m or more subs one day. Your videos are amazing.

Michael, this is fantastic content. Thank you very much. As others have said, it's only a matter of time before viewers - en masse - find you.
