Every lens is a wildlife lens in the right circumstances :D

With the photo of the goat, you have the aperture at f/1.8, to me it means the camera lens did the job perfectly. That's not a green line, that's the bending of light on the horizon out of focus, which is good at 1.8. Even the rock, I'm amazed at the quality of detail of the goat.

Hi Fabian, that's indeed an interesting approach to shoot wildlife which such short focal lengths and you make me suddenly understand why a short but fast lens could make sense for nature shots. When getting the 14-35/4 for occasional landscapes and waterfalls, I never even considered the f2/8 wide zoom.
Last week I was doing a rather opposite experiment: shooting macro of mushrooms (and some flies sitting on top of them) using the 200-800 .. and I was very pleased with the sharp subject versus smooth bokeh. Due to distance of respect, I found out on the computer I've even nailed the moment a fly laid an egg on top of a mushroom 🙈
I'm assuming you were filming this video using the 35/1.4 VCM

Thanks! I was thinking about that lens, but I actually went for another one

My dream is to be able to get close to birds with an 80mm 😅. 35mm is my favorite for indoors and family. Wide angle lenses really do great with the environment, telephoto compression doesn’t help show the scale in the same way. Awesome work as always. Edit: I think I see your point with the rendition of out of focus areas when you zoom in, but I am not sure if it’s worth to try and get a more expensive lens for that.

Are the squirrels in Lenzerheide or Arosa? Those shots are very original and the ibex really isn't shy!

Excellent thoughts. I think Canon need to pull their finger out so to speak and release the middle range lenses, 3rd stop slower than L (if possible) maybe a gold ring

I have this lens and really like it! Btw there are some weird black dots over your face in the video, thought it was my iPad screen but zooming in they are in the original footage

Thanks! Yes, I noticed it as well. It only happened on that day, I‘m not sure if it’s something with the camera/lens

Not really a great review when I can't pay attention to the review itself because all I notice is your amazing skills. Just kidding, that's the last one I saw, gonna buy it as soon as I can. So many pros e so little cons.

I was considering as an alternative to this lens the 28-70 f2.8 stm and was wondering if that’s the one you bought? 😊

Very close, it is indeed a zoom lens 😊

@ well the only other Canon RF lenses that are light weight and in a similar price range is the 15-30mm STM and 24-50mm STM. Is it either of these ?? 🤔

Do you think that it works for f2.8 too or is it too slow?

The background will not be as smooth, but you should still manage to get dome nice shots

Когда я с таким 35-м иду в блажащий парк белки не подбегают ко мне. Но стоит взять 70-200 они бегут ко мне и едят с рук. )) Не знаю почему так.
