A video showing how to configure MailPlus Server to support Apple's native iOS Mail app would also be useful, if you don't have one already. If you do, I couldn't easily find it. Thanks

If a user doesn’t have a static public IP will the mail app do DDNS?

Did not cover SMTP Security, from what I saw? How can you prevent your system from being hijacked as an SMTP SPAM bot?

SPF record, only provision the IP addresses of your upstream provider or ideally your spam provider.

Will that also work together with standard mail-clients on Android and IOS?

Great it comes with 5 users... But $250 for an additional 5 user pack is a absolute deal killer.

Very frustrating to buy my Synology NAS to be able to run email at home for my family (there are 9 in my family, all living at home) and find that Synology charges you for users over 5. So beware. You buy the Synology NAS because of the software that comes with it, then you start using it and find it to be crippled until you pay up. Very frustrating indeed.

Page 30 of the Administrator's guide references this "By default, MailPlus Server
comes with five free email accounts and allows you to add more accounts with additional
      purchased licenses."

@@travislehman9275 I've already stated the issue of the five user limit to MailPlus, in my original comment. Your point is...?

@@jcjewell Just wanted to state where it can be found on official documentation for everyone else who may be considering buying a Synology for that feature.

My take is Synology makes money on their software not their hardware. So when buying a NAS you're paying for usage of DMS and not a little cheap(although expensive to buy) box that holds drives. As a consumer I get the frustration however. You would think however that having more email users would not add any extra burden on them(Synology) so shouldn't matter how many users you are using. There are probably other free email solutions you can manage yourself.

This is an overly simplistic view of the comparative cost to host emails. He overly stresses getting a Synology Partner involved but does not include any of the costs of these things in his equations. The big cost in an email system is anti-spam, threatdetection/security, and high availability (you do not want your customers receiving ("undelivered" bounce backs). All of this is transparent (including the sleepless nights when something goes wrong) when you go with a hosted service.
Bottom line, make sure your total cost of owership is actually the TOTAL cost of owneship, don't just believe the helpdesk guy telling you how to stand up a server.

I think if somebody came to this video you don't need to convince them in the first 6 minutes. Go strait to the point.

I'm considering switching from Microsoft 365 to an On-Prem system, starting with a NAS. I wondered how email would be handled if our business dropped Microsoft. I was on Synology's website and saw a little blurb about "MailPlus" and this is the first video I have watched. It answered a lot of questions. Good job, Synology!
      👌 👍
