I cannot thank you enough for posting this video. My brother moved to SF in 1991, the year I graduated college. I wanted to move there so badly, but love, marriage, death, illness, aging parents, second marriage and children kept me in NJ. I sit and watch videos like this and imagine this is my life. I've been to visit over a dozen times throughout the years, and my children love it there as well but it is just SO DARN EXPENSIVE!!! I am thinking, plotting, planning and scheming any way possible that I will be able to manage the move there . I need to be there. This is the life I should have lived. I must make it happen, somehow. But until then, I can relive it all with your video. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
Good luck ! I've been living in the area for the last 30 yrs, since I came from Poland. Amazing area, if you have the right skills. Unfortunately, prohibitively expensive in recent years. Living in the suburbia, lately I used to take a boxed lunch when going to the City for a walk.
It all ended this spring, anyway.... who knows when we get back our old way of living.
I went there 20 years ago !!!! So sweet memories

My husband and I did this walk but in reverse, across bridge and back, then waterfront promenade all the way to pier 39 and beyond. A good day we had and spent all day, relaxing and enjoying the people and place.
I was born in San Francisco but moved away and haven't been there for many, many years.

Remember when you used to, like, walk around in places, and there were other people in those places too, just like, walking around? Man, those were the days, right?
For me there most happy days were when I met and fell in love my gf..I never felt same for anything else..I miss her even after 21 years..I love her and will love her all my life...
Me n hubby when to the pier 39 for my early bday on this past Saturday was beautiful little cold because the wind when on ferry ride was so cool we need to go to see Waterfront n Golden gate next time thank you for sharing great video.

I remember back in 1961 i walked from the GG bridge to Oakland bay bridge via fisherman's wharf on a sunday and everything was closed.Things sure do change.⚓⚓

You must be in great shape from all that walking. I always wanted to see the sights you have here in your video, but I will never get there. I'm old and a physical wreck. I appreciate the effort that went into making this video. I will be watching every minute of it over the next couple of days. It's very close to being there in person. What a joy!
Not many sights just food and shopping. Where people live not even a tree per street how sad is that. Just wall to wall cement and asphalt. If you find a joy in SanFran please share it with the rest of us. Not counting food or shopping. We can do those where we live with way less wall to wall cars and people. This guy had to have filmed it at sunup on a Sunday and not a holiday weekend. That place is wall to wall cars on asphalt or people on cement.
J Wilcox, did you not see the water, the lovely architecture, the modern marvel that is the Golden Gate Bridge? The giant trees, the cool fortresses, the mountains, the HAPPY, ACTIVE PEOPLE??? My God, man, open your eyes! This is one of the most beautiful and intriguing cities in the USA. I feel pity for you if you cannot see the beauty this city has to offer!

So far my favorite walking video. I watch these using my elliptical.. I posted this video to my fb wall. From 2:08 to the end is such a escape from exercising..Ive used this video a few times now starting at 2:08.00 to the end as I use my elliptical 2 and half to 3 hrs a day.. The hostel I stayed at during my only visit (so far) to San Francisco was the white building on the left at 1:34:11. Dorm room had a great view of the bay, complete with the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. I purposely came into the city over the Golden Gate and can remember the thrill I got coming around the hill and seeing the bridge and the bay up ahead. I also walked halfway across it the next day. Looking straight up at those towers as I walked past them gave me the heebie-jeebies much more than looking down at the water. Great couple of days there with nice clear blue skies like you had when you shot this.
Hey, that looks like it would have been a nice place to stay. I stayed at a dirty old hotel at the north end of Chinatown. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. San Francisco has always been a family favorite. We've been there many times over the years.
@@ProWalks It was great. Unfortunately it was years ago, October 1999. Would love to get back out there. The hostel was nice. One of the better ones I've seen, although I haven't been to many.
This video brings back fond memories of the 4 years (1987-1991) I lived in the Bay Area when I was in the Army stationed at the old Oakland Army Base. The only not-so-fond memory is having experienced the Oct 17th, 1989 Lomaprieta earthquake which I thankfully survived unscathed! Last time I was in San Francisco was in 2003!

Towards the end golden gate bridge view point was stunning. No one had shown entire bridge to end. It was great too see, and helps me as I m visiting SFO soon. Great ocean

Wow! I have never seen skies that colour anywhere else in the world. Or maybe I'm not paying attention. You can smell the atmosphere of salted ocean breezes and I'm pleased you didn't overlay this with music because atmos was all the further enhanced by albatross calls and the bustle of metropolitan living. I think Frank Morris, the prisoner who escaped from Alcatraz in 1962, must have actually made it to some surrounding coastline. I can't imagine security was all that sophisticated in 1962. Which also clears up misconceptions about ancient classical Roman civilization not having implemented systems for justice, crime and punishment since I can see the parallel for the development of this modern day metropolis with that of Ancient coastline ports of Neopolitan Italy. There's a lockdown due to the Coronovirus epidemic at the moment. So you can imagine how much I appreciate this video.

Hey, you are very welcome. Yeah, I can do that. I've been wanting to go back to San Francisco to film a bike tour or two. I actually did film a lot of downtown during this walk but I cut it out because the video was already so long. I went up Hyde street to Chinatown and up to Union Square and then walked backdown to the waterfront and continued to the Golden Gate bridge...but I ended up cutting that middle portion out.

Thank you so much for this! I am 65yr and have visited S.F. (from Sacto) for so many years. I moved to South Texas in 2018 and miss S.F. so very very much. this is the best treat I can imagine watching. I enjoy while on my stationary bike. I get verklempt watching. Love Love Love this so much. Question: are you like 7' tall? or what. I assume you have a helmet on of some sort with your go pro on top. but still, you are so tall over everyone. I am watching this in increments.

Thank you for this video!!! I'm trying to recreate the pier in my animal crossing island and I rly needed these good angles!
I lived here a year and a half ago on the outskirts of the city. Loved this area, the weather, the food, and you're in the middle of everything so you can go to tahoe, chico, Sacramento, LA, etc. I couldn't as I have stage 3 crps and cant go on long car rides, but I did go to Tahoe a few times and its only an hr plane ride to get to san diego and my fav place was Carmel! If you could go on a walk around carmel and Monterey that would be amazing! Nothing is more gorgeous than that 17 mile drive and ive been everywhere in california, been to several other states and Rome! I love how pier 31 always smells like the sea!

It is nice to see you record and share other places that you have not uploaded before. Although I am not Italian, Italy is my true love. That is why I subscribed to your channel almost two years ago. I watched a movie last night "Call Me By Your Name" and it was filmed in northern Italy which is the epicenter of the coronavirus, but it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I enjoyed the walk, thanks. I spent time in S.F. late in the hippie days (1973). I spent the night in the Grateful Dead house in the Height. After the band left the house because of police raids looking for drugs the Grateful Dead let the hippies use it to crash in. Don't remember much furniture in the house but plenty of floor space.
Absolutely fantastic video, I really enjoyed seeing the piers , the waterfront and, particularly , the Palace of Fine Arts (at 1 hr 58mins) , somewhere I'd never even heard of- just a stunning place. Also enjoyed walking over the Golden Gate Bridge ( both ways!). It looked like a really cold & windy day when you filmed it & you must have some stamina to walk that distance, very well done.
( one thing, why do all those people who take the trouble to go to such a spectacular place all walk around glued to their phones!)

Obviously you do not need to exercise to stay in shape, I saw your climb up those stairs at Mt. St. Helen...yes you stopped a couple of times , but of course that was only to show us the view:)
I live in Ferndal,Wa. near Bellingham, only a 3 hour or so drive from the mountain.
I hope when this Virus goes away we can visit there.

-wish they had more oyster beds and clams to help filter the water and help keep it clean. It was a mess in the San Francisco area when we were there.

Here i am in July 2021 enjoying the walk. Has to be the safest way to travel these days. Remember when the Donald was in the white house, his famous saying was" it w ill go away,it will go away". No, I was beat. I took an Uber back to my hotel which was at the north end of Chinatown. I actually walked a couple miles further but it wasn't all that interesting so I cut that out.

Supposely San Francisco has a big homeless population. It didn't seemed obvious in your film, or do they avoid the tourist areas? Did you see many?

I remember I finally took a break after walking back across the Golden Gate Bridge. There was a cafe there. I think I bought a gross hot dog, gatorade and a water. :)
