I would suggest the 50s Elvis version for more of Elvis and less back-up singers. If you notice, in the 70s when he started putting on all the weight, the back-up singers were much louder and covered any mistakes he made and also allowed him to rest his voice during songs. He could still belt them out, but he definitely used the back-up singers more. Go back to the 50s to hear him wail the best.

This was a very mild performance by Elvis. You have to watch him sing it in his 68 comeback special.
