There is an attachment you can get for your machine that you insert the binding into and folds it in front of the needle and over the edge of the fabric.
Why wouldn’t you be able to use a regular flat bed sewing machine for what you doing the beginning of the video? What else does a cylinder arm sewing machine do special apart from being able to sew inside of things? I see allot of people use them for binding, are these machines better for binding?
I have a tutorial on how I do it on my flatbed as well :) covering all types of machines. I honestly prefer my 1541, but I do the majority of my binding and topstitching on my cylinder arm :)

Yes if I was doing a raw edge binding. I cannot get one for double fold cotton binding for my machine .
