@@synicyst9925 Google has the answer, but in short they have been using iron for 1000 or more years, low grade steel was the result until they learned better methods from Europeans over the preceding 200+ years
I love that spear in particular. It was said the tribesmen would hide the full length of the spear behind a shield, Get in range! And throw it slightly underhand and catch the very end of the spear. Using the full spears range! Surprising an opponent expecting them to close the gap.
Actually a very well-established and regular martial technique. If you make battle your discipline or trade, it is only normal to be diligent, and diligence in that context means creating openings yourself instead of waiting for them. With regards to melee equipment, that means an unusual design or deceptive reach. As for the shields, well, I'd suggest that's merely a practical opener, but the design of that spear alone tells you everything you need to know. It can be two-handed to provide leverage or capitalise on the centrifugal force in a swing, it can be used as a dagger or a sword in close-range struggles, and yes, it is, by design intended first and foremost - through hand positioning alone - to be used on an opponent that believes your reach to be your arm + a dagger due to your hand's positioning on the haft. An opponent that is completely unprepared, because your engagement circle is actually a dagger + two arms, a veteran especially, would see you lunge early and further underestimate you, and then your hand would simply slide back, smoothly in unison with your thrust, and that would not only injure them, but might induce a state of shock that you could punish with unopposed follow-up strikes.
quality build, good to see you going back to forging a blade and really good to see it is traditional style as well, looks bloody good and extremely effective to
Onur, absolutely stunning build. Your creative mind is phenomenal. What a beautiful weapon. Loved the outfit. And the T-shirt had a quote that cracked me up.
You certainly do your research. I like the use black and white cowhide grip and fringe. I was researching shields for an unrelated reason and found a company in Kenya that mfg. & ships similar Zulu themed cowhide battle shields in several style shapes and patterns. The combo of a shield with your metal spear as a short handled weapon would suit Shaka Zulu well. Your tribal dance skills are minimal.
Hello to follow your videos I find your work really interesting and super well done it's a shame that you don't put the subtitles in French. Thank you for your video, can't wait to see the next one. Commentaires
I dont like the cowhide additions, but hats off for those magnificent cuts. None of them looked particularly precise, yet I never imagined the second cut at 7:50 would be THAT clean.
Brilliant weapon dude I think they’re used by the wheredafuqrwe Tribe who are a pigmy tribe that live in the long grass area of west Africa. They’re only three foot tall and to find their way have to jump from the long grass shouting where dafuq are we? 😜
Do not bother to create that which you despise to the core. Its like a zulu would ridicule before he played the moonlight sonata. Do you not smell the coffee yet? Or are you still seeing flying elephants?
The slab of wrought was given to me by a local farmer and he said it’s probably 250 years old.
What do you think to the pattern in it?
I love the wrought pattern, and am working on a san mai with wrought on the outside. Beautiful work all around! What was your etchant?
I like the pattern, but am left to wonder how Zulu processed their iron 250 years ago.

Are you going to be selling this piece?

Onur,
That blade pattern is awesome! The spear turned out nice. Than you for taking time to build, film, edit and post this video.

The weapon of my home country.. Fun fact: "Iklwa" is an onomatopoeia, named after the sound it makes when stabbed deep and pulled out.

I love that the spears name is the sound it would make when you stab someone in the stomach... iklwa

Have you ever made a gaffi stick from starwars?
Yes finally
You should do also venom character cause you got lil bit tom hardy look
👏👏👏👏👏💪😎👍
"WhY dIdN´t YoU fOrGe It?????????????"
Not to nitpick, but why would you harden and temper it *before* grinding it. Much better on your abrasives to normalize, then grind, then heat treat.
🔥👍🏻
Can you make mordo staff.????😢😢😢😢😢😢🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
NICE AND SHARP AS F$$^&😂

your best intro ever.

It's a spear, not a sword. And no Zulu would be caught dead in that gay leafy skirt.
Iklwa were used to cut as well as thrust, hence the long broad leaf shaped blade
😂
I need that shirt!!!
really could have done without the mocking zulu gibberish
Like the spear ,dancing was better
