This series is such a horror story from Charlie’s POV. Just imagine your daughter dating a guy who is somehow always endangering your child, encouraging her to keep secrets from you, and then she gets fatally ill, vanishes, and then you find out her best friend is a werewolf and she’s probably not human anymore. Good lord Charlie needs a stiff drink and a break.
I wonder since the Volturri decided not to deal or worry about the Cullens anymore if they made a 6th movie with Charlie finding out Bella is a vampire now and Renessme is half human, half vampire.
As a dude who only seen the movies, the dynamic between Bella and Charlie was always the most tragic for me. Like you have to keep your entire life a secret to keep your dad safe. But your dad just thinks your distant and want nothing to do with him.
Fun fact: in the books, Bella didn’t look like herself at all after her change. So much so that when Charlie came to see her, he looked at her and then around the room and asked where Bella was only for her to say “dad I’m right here” and when he looked at her she could see all the emotions passing through his eyes and she knew he couldn’t even recognize her at all.
@TheCallmom I don't remember that specific part of the book series, but they do mention that the change from human to vampire burns away all of the body fat and enhances all of the physical features. So, it's not completely different, but more like seeing a normal, maybe even slightly plain, friend who is suddenly glammed up to perfection with different coloured eyes and far paler than before. Plus he expected her to be on death's door because she went into isolation with the Cullens while she was pregnant and the rumour they used to cover it up was that she'd contracted a tropical disease and had been too sick to leave the house.
Charlie has to be my favourite character out of the entire Twilight Franchise. You could tell how much he tried to protect Bella and show her that he is a loving father and cares about her. He deserved so much, I feel like he's always being pushed away but even with all that he still chooses to protect and love his daughter.
Even if Bella doesn't feel or look the same, Charlie loves his daughter just as much, if not more. Though Bella is the vampire of the two, their love is infinite. ❤❤

In the book when Charlie upon meeting his granddaughter renesme for the first time he could see his own eyes looking back at him, (she had his eyes) but had to be told she was Edwards random niece??? I always felt bad for Charlie, esp in these scenes where he’s just absolutely deceived 😭

He doesn't know Bella is a vampire, but he does know she is some sort of supernatural creature after Jacob turns into his werewolf form to show Charlie the world is not what he thinks it is, he also knows that Renesmee grows different from other kids. It's been years since I read the books, so I don't remember what Jacob told him, but he knows she is not the Bella she was before.
They did Charlie wrong, specially at the end. They keep his daughter from him for several weeks telling him that she has a disease so contagious he can't see her, he spends all that time thinking she might die and by the time he meets her again she's pale, cold and hard like a rock and has a child out of nowhere.
I want this whole series as a 1 movie from Charlie's POV. It's just a slow burn horror movie, which starts off as a realistic thriller about an only daughter who keeps nearly dying, disappears and shows back up injured or worse, gets married, then is gone for months and months, dying from an illness and he has no idea where she is and can't talk to her or see her. Then her best friend reveals he's a werewolf, then he FINALLY get to see her, but she's DIFFERENT (I want the book version) and she has an adopted daughter that mysteriously looks like her when she was normal, and he just silently accepts it, because the pain and greif and guilt of losing his daughter is too much to take. Accepting what he believes to be WRONG, is better than believing he has lost his little girl forever. And the end credits are just him and his new wife, as he continues to spiral into this manic dissociation and rationalization, where he convinces himself it's all normal like it was before, and he's just a ticking time bomb of greif-fueled insanity waiting to be set off.

Do you mean twilight as in the first book or the entire saga? It'd be interesting to read as a companion story to the Twilight Saga but extremely boring if a standalone POV.
If you love reading, I would suggest you to try the books before, the characters are so better in there. But if not, I guess the serie make the trick 🤷♀️👌

He didn't expect her to change everything about her just to be with him, while Edwards, let's be honest, was a monster.

Yeah yeah we feel bad for Charlie, but rewatching it i get even more chills of his protective they are of her. I understand they're everyone safe by behaving so protective but damn it's a little weird. They all just accept her to be in the family (nor Rosalie) so easily, crazy weird bond.
