    Over the last 20 years, I literally wouldn't even consider a car made by a legacy US automaker. Just garbage. It was all Honda all the time. I've had my 3 since December and absolutely love it. And we have a Y in the order cue. I don't see legacy US car companies magically start making excellent EV's. Tesla will continue to do just fine.

      While Tesla lacks some quality in their car builds, (maybe not recently?) they are ahead of probably all others when it comes to EV technology. Between the safety features in the computer, to the higher amount and quality electronics.
      This'll probably be that way for a long, long time.

      Absolutely nothing wrong with the big three. As long as the owner understands that the vehicle will cost more to own each year. And cost more at time of sale. More than any other brand.

    So far, I am loving my Tesla experience. I don't miss the dealerships at all. Supercharging is a HUGE competitive advantage for Tesla. I would never consider another model at any price unless I knew it would never be anything other than a commuter vehicle.

    i work in tech both hardware and software. i've spent 8 years working with ppl in a manufacturing facility even though I could work remote. at the end of the day, when you work in a manufacturing heavy industry, you need to show face time. line workers dont care if you can get your work done at your desk or at home, if they dont see you, they think youre just overpaid office workers and youre there to reap the benefits of the blue collar workers. whether or not one agrees with that, doesnt matter, their preception affects morale and you dont want a factory that has low morale. if Tesla was a pure engineering or software company, they can get away with remote work, but they are also manufacturing a product, so by having office workers show up again, it keeps the morale high for the blue collar labor.

    • @satoshimanabe2493
      @satoshimanabe2493 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree. Management needs to be there to support the workers who are putting in their 110% effort. It's hard to think of someone being on your team when they don't even show up. And a lot of problems with assembly and hardware require "hands on" effort, which is practically impossible to do remotely.

    • @zgdafzgdaf4264
      @zgdafzgdaf4264 ปีที่แล้ว

      While I agree with this sentiment, especially in a manufacturing business, productivity of office workers will possibly go down. After an 8 hour day, all devices will be shut down and the worker will be unreachable.

    My experience with remote working is that people who work remotely tend to work longer hours than non-remote workers. Having been on both side of this I can tell you that is true in my case, to the point where my manager had to intervene and remind me the importance of work/life balance.

    That Buick Wildcat concept is beautiful. If they could take that look into a production "gentleman's coupe" I would love to have one. Back in the '60s, the Wildcat was essentially their short wheelbase sedan platform with an Electra big-block engine. This seems to be a different breed of cat, more from the old Riviera DNA line.

    Clarification on EAP in Europe. EAP always requires user interaction on a lane change by flicking the indicator on, otherwise it stays in lane. It can certainly recommend a lane change, but you have to flick the indicator. It can however, sometimes, decide to take an off-ramp without that, which is frankly a bit weird when it's needed for a lane-change on motorway. This moves in-line with the lane changing, and more closely matches how it's described as working in the manual. As an aside: I disconnect the system when it's time to come off the motorway, it's more predictable to do the job by hand, and I only have a few hundred meters for the job to be done correctly and don't want to miss my turnoff

    For those who live in Hurricane Alley, rural areas, or anywhere that power outages are the normal, we need ability to backfeed the power from Tesla automobiles to our homes. If Ford is doing it with the Lighting, Tesla can no doubt do it too and do it better!!! I know they have a power wall but come on, the power is right there, on wheels, to power a home for days. If power down longer at house could still have ability to drive to a charging station elsewhere to refill.

    • @xJohnNguyen
      @xJohnNguyen ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I've heard online, range is going to beat speed for most purposes. The Tesla is plenty fast already, but the battery will degrade over time and you don't want to be stopping to charge all the time.

    • @Elite59
      @Elite59 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the range difference was on about 27 miles (330 to 303)? Those that ordered the LR with the upgraded larger wheels will drop down to about 318 range, which is only about 15 miles difference. One thing I have read, which is a bit concerning, is that those ranges published by Tesla are not really close to accurate in the real world.

    • @Sam-gf1eb
      @Sam-gf1eb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Elite59 Yeah I'm gonna guess that those ranges were based on having it run stationery until it died which is much different than the roads that we drive on. You also shouldn't let the battery get below 10% or above 80% to stop it degrading as fast, which means less miles per charge.

I have yet to see any reason to make people work on site for 40 hrs a week, as long as the job is getting done. Not everyone needs to be on site to do their job, and a minimum time requirement instead of tracking metrics shows its not about getting the job done, its about optics and control.

I am on site maybe 10hrs a week, thats all I need to do. Given that Tesla production can have up to 27 changes a week, I see having management on site as being critical for that pace manufacturing hi-tech EVs. It's an immersive environment plus it's a lot more efficient to be at the factory, talking with workers on or near the line instead having them drop what their doing and going on a Zoom call somewhere else. Imagine trying to do a Zoom call with your manager while trying to maybe hold your phone to point at a problem and the manager can't see what's going on clearly? Lastly, nothing against all managers. But, I've sure come across managers who think they know what's best and just waste my time or make matters worse. If that can't commit to the job, then I think it's a sign they'd be happier working elsewhere. I bet there are a lot of jobs at the legacy manufacturers that might suit them better.

    I think with the Bolt price cuts, they are doing it and losing money knowingly. They're working on retooling the factory that makes the Bolt to be able to produce their new EV platform that all their near future EVs will be made on. So i think this is the equivalent of them doing a sale to get inventory off the shelf to make room for the new products.They've said they'll produce the Bolt while doing the factory change but haven't said if they still will after the factory retooling. Which to me implies either the Bolt will be discontinued or will have a MASSIVE overhaul after the factory is completely to then be on their new EV platform. They can afford to eat the loss in the mean time and it gets more people in a GM car and starts building a customer base that will be likely to upgrade to a future Chevy/GM EV in the future.

    The boss is asserting his authority. Either follow the rules or leave. My company is mostly remote, but working on-site is better for visibility and communication.

    My order always shows delivery estimate as TBD - I booked January. I thought it's a everyone issue - but doesn't look like. Has yours always shows the delivery estimate?

    GM is selling New Bolts for $25k but have not finished putting batteries in the Recalled Bolts. How does that work?
    After dealerships get involved the $25k Bolt will cost $45k.

    The Tesla finance department can only be reached by email and the delay is completely unacceptable. The Tesla mangers at the Tesla service centers can’t even get ahold of them either. Unbelievable…
