I'm barely starting this video and you already answer my question... This is very informative, I recommend your channel to someone who is a amateur DIY mechanic that has a saab.
Great video and I didn't know about the different bulb holders. I have a tip about the rear foglights, mine was driver's side only and I noticed the passenger side was wired so I put in a second bulb (mine only had one bulb not two) and now both sides work. I only mention this because I didn't know and wanted others to know that might not. Thanks for all the tips and content.
Thanks Thanos. It was an opportune time - I've seen people asking about this on forums and I'm doing some MoT work on my mates facelift 9-3 so was able to 'borrow' his lights to make it. Sshhh! don't tell him! 😂
I use silver bulbs in my 9-3 -05 for a cleaner look. the red reflectors are enough and you do not need extra in the bumper. I live in Sweden and have had this for over 14 years
@@CycloneCyd Yes, they are. I bought from SpeedParts a long time ago but they have none in stock. I know they are hard to find and unfortunately have no link I can refer to. drive.google.com/file/d/1CyYSpFaVAEc92tDXkCyOzSUjQMhGrBy4/view?usp=sharing
Found your videos while looking up about replacing our smashed driver side light on our 2007 93 sedan. So 2003 up to 2012 sedan would use the same housing, just later they would be the "iceblock" kind?
I ended up fitting an old bulb holder to a newer 9-3 and found out about the bulb holder after fitting it. My solution is to use my bench grinder to grind 1 pin off the red bulbs I have and it holds the bulb securely just with 1 pin. The modern bulb holders were about £40 on ebay at the time, while the one I got from a scrappy was £10 so wasn't worth it to go for the right one for me.
The only problem I can foresee with removing a pin is getting contact problems somewhere down the line and these cars are (in)famous for those kind of issues giving bulb failure warnings. Hence, I didn't feel I could recommend it to viewers.
Hi mate only just got a 2006 saab 93 arc and am really enjoying it, Do you know what models of the face lifted 93s would have similar tail lights to my 93 arc? or where i could find that information? thanks mate and good video.
You can facelift the front end. You need bonnet, fenders (wings), lights and bumper. You also need the lights mounting panels and need to do a bit of chopping and welding. I'm not intending to do mine. I think the preface looks much better (and 9-3 sales would seem to agree - they fell off a cliff after 08)
Interesting! Now, unless those bulbs are already buggered, you don't want to put your fingers on'em. Use gloves of a kleenex or anything to avoid putting your fingers directly in contact with the glass part of the bulb.

Another solution is to keep your stock lamp holder and paint your bulb with nail varnish....you know that real slutty red 😂.....I did.
I rang 400 breaker yards.... No saab rear lenses as should be 😭. Wft going on..... I just watched cyd😂💪
Sales of the 9-3 fell off a cliff after the facelift, so any 08on parts are hard to get

You're thinking about halogen bulbs. these are ordinary bulbs so not important.
just me thinking out loud... cant you just take red p21w lights? or am i stupid here?
