Johnny Mathis sure is nice to be around...He sings for me everyday, everywhere, he has now for 30 years.. Sure helps aleve the sad times in life...He lifts me up..wow! Jane in Ohio
Johnny Mathis certainly is a nice man to be around. So sweet and such a gentleman. Wonderful song - wonderful video - one of the best on here. Thanks 19rebel57.
The theme from the movie Cinderella liberty extraordinarily difficult to sing because of the weird tempos and phrasing - and of course Johnny’s is the best version you’ll ever hear. The man is magic. Always was, always will be. 😊❤️
never heard this- but he brings something special to whatever he sings- because he brings his whole self everytime- just love these- thank you, 19rebel51 for continuing to share more of these!
wonder what the sigh was at the end of this beautifully poignant love note about, he seemed to be really moved at the end, that's why I like the video with the song .Mr. Mathis has touched places in my heart that I didnot know was there ,he has this way of taking you into his world without exposing too much of himself ,in my opinion he is the best at this, I cried for an hour after seeing/hearing this the first time , The best ever, you have/will deserve every honor given to you
Pieces of dreams by Johnny Mathis is truely his best performance. I was lucky to have seen Johnny Mathis sing in concert about 7 times now. Almost every time I've got to meet him, the first time he kissed me on my cheek (I think he was actually going to kiss me on my lips but I turned away thinking how impolite that would be for me to do that to HIM, hahaa. But I wanted to. Always been kind to let me get a picture with him & autographed it concerts later. I love Johnny Mathis .God bless
It seems that all the Mathis videos from about 1973-74 (with the Tongiht Show Orchestra) are the hottest Mathis vids on youtube. This seems, quite possibly, to be when Johnny Mathis was at the peak of his game. When you get that darn good it's hard to compare apples and oranges but, Johnny Mathis would be my favorite. He was born a star singer.
Johnny has a hotline to god .A singer who can bring women to tears watch his interpretation of my funny valentine on you tube live with his guitarist only ,an absolute genius bro
It's such a really hard to be sung song, but for Johnny Mathis, this is a piece of cake!!! A Work Of Art, indeed!!!! I Thank you from Mexico for sharing, 19rebel57!!!!
Great song, but I'm glad the 70s are gone. Not a fan of the clothes and jewelry, and no one dresses better than Johnny, no one is better groomed. But I'll take Johnny any way I can get him! Most gorgeous voice ever, from the most gorgeous man! Carson was a huge fan of John's, just like we are! Everything he sang, sings, and will ever sing is gorgeous! Love him!
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE SONGS... It is the 2nd song on side 1 of the album .. "When will I see you again"..1975,thank you SO MUCH for sharing this video clip.
HOLAS, ESCRIBO DE CUSCO PERU Y REALMENTE POR FIN ENCONTRÉ UN TESORO DE MUSICA DE LOS MEJORES AÑOS INOLVIDABLES, SUERTE LA MIA DE AHORA PODER COMPARTIR CON AMIGOS QUE ADMIRAMOS Y VALORAMOS AL SEÑOR JOHNY MATHIS, REALMENTE UNICO E INCOMPARABLE
WOW, 19rebel57, thanks so much for presenting this awesome, awesome recording video, I just love it. The quality of the videos you are sharing are just perfect, both the sound and the video itself. Please keep them coming, this is just such a wonderful treat.
In response to 19rebel57, I THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for posting this video.I have several LP's of Johnny Mathis. All the songs are sung beautifully. Unfortunately the albums do not consist of the Nice To Be Around recording. I have LOVED this hauntingly, captivating, melody, & lyrics since I was a child, & today even more!! Paul Williams, John Williams, TOOTS, James Cann, Marsha Mason,& never least Johnny Mathis are BRILLIANT!! and are TRUE ARTIST. I will luv them forever. An infinite Thumbs Up....
You, with that magnificent voice, have always enchanted me, as you do the whole world until today. Thank you for leaving your career as an athlete to be a divine and wonderful singer. THANKS 👏👏👏👏👏
In reply to coupiedoll, I enjoyed, & loved, reading your comment, as well as viewing this TIMELESS video of a captivating performance by Johnny Mathis. I am soooo on the same page I just wanted to thank you, from ONE TRUE LISTENER TO ANOTHER GODSPEED!!
An absolutely excellent rendition of this beautiful song. Johnny paints pictures of the words of a song emitting emotion which those who truely listen can feel. He is the best ever!!!
I have returned to listen to this song so many times... I see you made your comment 14 years ago. I don't remember when I first liked it, but I couldn't agree with you more. Johnny Mathis is a world treasure and the Kennedy Center has never honored him? Something is very rotten stinky about that. Not only do they not make them like Johnny Mathis anymore, this world of ours has become so broken, I don't think God will ever think we deserve another. I have only been fortunate enough to see him in person twice, but the man is such an amazing talent, huh, and such a kind and gentle and clearl a special heart and soul beat within him. I pray all is well with you and yours.
Imagine, people actually got to watch this in the NBC studio for free? Where did the talent go? Stellar performance of a magnificent song by John Williams, and lyrics by Paul Williams, from the movie "Cinderella Liberty." 2 thumbs way up!
Even in "disco burns" he's still a mega-hunk. The way that mouth moves when he sangs just drives me crazeeeeee! The pied piper and the troubadour. Pay dirt no matter which way you look at him.
This great, underrated (and yes, why hasn't it become more of a standard???) song seems to have been covered by a number of big names in the '73-'74 time period...from an Oscar nominated score... So why the heck isn't it more well known? It is certainly of the par, if not above, of its contemporary rival, "The Way We Were".
Words from my own heart and mind, Googoo726. The more I listen to this song- the more I love it- it has such emotionality in it- and Johnny's ability to infect it with his own way of connecting to his music in such a personal way. I'm thinking of moving to West Hollywood. (just kidding......) Thank you 19rebel57- your videos are wonderful. (did you stay up and watch Johnny Carson for all those years?) :)
He put his entire self into the song. Maybe he was reflecting on a personal experience of his. With his mastery of technique combined with deep feelings one gets a powerfully moving performance.
Having lived in San Francisco and knew the Mathis Family Johnny's Mom and Dad have to be Really Proud of The Great Singer Johnny Mathis Is❤🎉😅

Johnny is indeed such a true treasure in the world.
It seems like Johnny Carlson's favorite guest is Johnny Mathis. I love this, he is awesome.
Johnny Mathis is always great!! Just the very best!!
Not an easy song to sing and as always he mastered it and captivated the audience. He's so talented, he makes it look easy to sing this song.
Great song ! Great voice! Back when singers SANG !!! How far we've fallen!!

Fantastic. Such passion.
The one and only Johnny Mathis. They don't make them like this one anyone anymore.

Man you nailed it. Great description on the song!
Listen to the rendition on the When Will I See you Again. You will be even more moved.

Meu olhar, para ele é de muito respeito.
I have a lot of respect and affection for an artist as great as him, who always played wonderful songs.
HOW did he grow that sideburns, so awesome. Good looking always.

2023 y esta interpretación sigue siendo brutal. ❤

👏👏👏💋💋💋❤❤❤
No one better. No one.
When I die, my epitaph should say that I lived in the time of Johnny Mathis.
Why is he so emotional at the end? I thought he was going to cry.
I've seen him cry at the end of a few of his songs. He's a very sensitive man. Very sensitive, compassionate, and emotional.
He put his entire self into the song. Maybe he was reflecting on a personal experience of his. With his mastery of technique combined with deep feelings one gets a powerfully moving performance.
