What I liked about the memorial scene is that Price and Gaz final goodbye to soap was a soilders departure. Price said the SAS matto. Gaz said he'll see him down range. But for ghost he treated soap like a normal person he said rest well Johnny.

He's been with the MW series for a bit longer than what most people remember. Back in the end of the story for MW's extended cutscenes, he's on the radio with price after the chaos Victor Zakhaev caused. As a post-MW bundle in season 1 of cold war, Not many people were thrilled about his look but I was just excited we got to see and hear Neil's voice to the character. I'll miss him 💜

Soap death broke my heart. The fact that the OG and reboot Soap died is just making me even more sad. Yes OG soap was way more sad but the reboot one also broke my heart. But the reboot death feels unscripted ngl
It had to happen though. I initially never wanted anyone to meet their end. But now that I have thought of it. It really was necessary because it now has raised stakes and makes us wanna kill Makarov even more. I still wish it was Gaz or Farah since they’ve been there longer. But to be entirely honest, I’m happy Gaz and Ghost and such are getting a second chance despite some people being upset about them living. But considering since they died in the titles they were introduced in, it’s good to see their stories expand. I still Wish Soap could’ve had a final words death but the fact he died the way he does remind us that war is like this and how people die like this. FOAP death was illogical and forced, you can clearly see it was made by an AI Soap death however was not only sad but was heartbreaking, there was developpment prior to his death, he was patched up and continued the mission with yuri only to save him while crashing down and reopening his patched wounds and slowly dying of blood loss and price reaction when he died holding his hands that was pure hollywood worthy here not like the shameless DLC from MW2 year 2

Soaps death was NOT emotional. It was definitely forced. When I got to that part. I was scratching my head going what in the actual f###. I was annoyed. The entire story was crap. It was rushed and no excuse to be able to finish the story in 1 hour. Maybe 2 to 3 if you are a hard-core gamer trying to beat it on cheap mode. They need to completely rewrite the story. Try again, and put some effort in it.
People are pissed the soap is dead. Trust me i was stuck on the new zombie open world map that i stopped a few missions before his death. I didnt realized it was so short. But when i seen him killed in the way he was... it wss a real tear jerker. There was no warning, no build up. Just BOOM *dead* i was just laid the controller down after finishing off the bomb and cry a bit watching that. It felt great that price made shepherd pay the same price! But now to play zombies and see soap still be active is even worst cause there aint no more soap. This new soap is my all time favorite. It would be nice if he made a comeback in the next COD but at the same time he was shot point blank in the skull. They want the game to feel real. So you cant kill one of the main characters then the next few CODs bring him back...😔

Even if the writing itself was bad, I thought most of the new cast did a pretty good job in their performances and bringing their characters to life. TL;DR on the rest: Soap's death itself wasn't disgraceful, it was everything else around it that brought it down significantly. I hope Neil (Soap's Actor) is doing well, and Activision should be held accountable for the rough state the game came out in, seeing how the devs themselves also felt betrayed. My personal problem with Soap's death is that we didn't get enough time to mourn. Doesn't matter as much what happens after (bad guy wins/loses, etc.), we just needed a mission or two in order to mourn his death and see some more impact than what we got (though his sendoff and redaction cutscenes were pretty good IMO, and should be kept as the finale scene). I'm actually ok with him dying so suddenly (though the execution needed a little help), it is much more realistic, like what Chad and Samuel said. This is life to real soldiers, and at the end of the day, the highest call of duty is to lay down your life on the battlefield so that those back home don't have to. I enjoyed and liked the new Soap, and I'm sad he's gone, and has given me the personal motivation to want to see the new Makarov be put in the ground (a consequence I really hope the next game follows through on, still hung up that they essentially backed off of "No Russian"'s potential ramifications). I will also say, the scene being shot halfway through also explains the discrepancy between the good story bits and the rough ones. It feels like Soap's death was very high on the priority list of things that SHG wanted to get right and have, but they were running the train as they were laying the track. We all know the game was built in 8 months, I imagine the actors felt what I did when I played through the game; there are small bits of good storytelling here, but executed and cobbled together in a very rough way that makes it almost unbearable to take seriously as a whole, and the bad bits are the cherry on top, making the whole thing a very frustrating experience. Definitely lots of dancing around the topic as it is a very rough one. No one can speak for Neil, and frankly, we shouldn't try to or even guess how he's feeling. All I hope for is that he's ok, that his personal life is going well, that his career is going well, etc. What happened happened, and we should focus on reforms and making things better in the games industry so that the rough state MW3 came out in doesn't happen again. There are many ways to do that, but I'll leave the how up to you, the reader of this comment.
