Why do people always disparage Roglic as dull, people just dont get him, he's so dry and funny and such a nice guy, he's a bona fide gent and a good sportsman too. Dude is just awesome.
I think he's also more relaxed these days and being a bit less reserved in front of the cameras. The way he's dealt with disappointment and adversity is top class too
@@Austin6403 I've been there and it's annoying that it's very far from Brussels, about an hour and a half away. Aside from that, I don't know what else he disliked
That Marc Soler J.R. Smith comparison is so spot on 🤣 I'm still cracking up! Kudos to Alaphillipe. I cannot help but wonder what would have happened with better timing from Roglic and positioning from Valverde. Of course, this is part of racing as well. Too bad Pogacar could not be at start of the race.
Alaphilippe is just an animal. One of my all time favorite riders. He's so exciting to watch. Lanterne Rouge is Da Bomb by the way. The videos and production values have really jumped up this year and as usual the commentary is world class. Love your channel.
So what i noticed is that Roglic attacked with quite a small bracket, giving him an advantage in the really steep section (you can see his legs moving very quickly). Alaphilippe on th eother hand attacked with a larger bracket which made him control his pace a bit better on the steep section and then permitted him to kick past Roglic at the end, when the profile of the climb (kinda) flatened out. I think Roglic had the better legs today, just the wrong tactics. Congrats to Alaphilippe who really pushed himself to the limit, love this rider!!
Changing up chain rings with di2 takes all of a fraction of a second. If Roglic had it in his legs he would have outsprinted Ala, he had enough time to do so
@@ctrlaltdelete200390 Looking for confirmation from others that the moment you enjoyed so much was enjoyed by others as well. It's a social discipline called "sharing happiness".

So grateful this stuff is on the tv now (sbs), but being a weeknight I failed in staying awake after midnight ! Cheers for the wrap up. Why not uh :)))
Great analysis. I just watched old man Chris Horners video and he legit said that Roglic should have looked at how Hirschi won it last year and done the same thing. Roglic is never going to beat Alas 10 second max power on the Mur but he might beat him in a 2 minute max power.
Not sure... Alaph best perf this year is a second place on the Mont Ventoux. He's not so bad when climbing fast is necessary. And It's not sure Roglic could start earlier.
Awesome video as always. Would've been 10/10 if you had only put the best sprinter in the world, Nairoman Quintana as the centre. Guaranteed Shaq like domination.
Great breakdown as usual thank you! I see now why Rutledge attacked when he did because he was fed up with almost getting crashed when be got squeezed and said enough is enough and did what he does. He for sure was surprised. (Rookie mistake, he never looked back with 25m to go.) Just my oppinion. Rookie as in his first time racing this race.
People acting like Roglic went too early, but JA just had better legs. Primoz didn’t slow up like a tired rider would and as you mentioned he actually did have a response to JA riding by him. It just wasn’t enough. If Primoz waits JA blows by him sooner or even just rides Primoz off his wheel.
One of the most intersting results in my opinion is Marko Brenner finishing in 24 place with about 35 sec. behind Alaphilipe. He was the youngest participant there and it is only bis first season if not bis first race in the World Tour. Definatly one to watch for the future.
@@LanterneRougeCycling ok, understood. I am just watching whatever comes up on my TH-cam feed. I was wondering where Benji was.... You put all the major networks to shame in every aspect possible...
Roglic had to go as soon as the really steep part started. The longer he waited the more of a final kick Alaphilippe would have left. All was on a knife's edge anyway ofcourse.
i wish u had mentioned how woods was almost pushed off the road and had to check himself more than once. he would have come third i think maybe been closer had that not happened. good race, good vid, i wish the world champ was a little more likeable for me personally haha.
I don't see a DQ for Bala here - unless it's more in the vein of endangering Pidcock or another rider once he got back onto the road. Hell, Pidcock and others did the exact same thing before the climb (~2.5 km to go) - and it also happens in so many Flemish races as you've recalled already. I dunno, I get why it irks some, but here it's only because it's so visible. lmao at that basketball pairing, btw! great work as always!
Great recap bud. The Mur is all about timing when to strike. Roglic, reminded me a little of when Cadel went to early and got swamped near the summit of the steepest part. Totally different in execution but it doesn’t matter how strong you are feeling if someone times it to perfection your toast. Watching both LouLou and Bala towards that critical part, both look to be pushing a slightly lower cadence than Roglic and Pidcock. Showing their experience, when it really mattered. Great racing by everyone. Love watching this race just to see guys figuring it out. Roglic to repeat victory at La Doyenne 🤞. Actually really impressed with Pidcock’s 6th place finish, could see him winning on the Mur in the future. Would love to be in Liege this weekend. I love a Durty old Town. Are you in Europe now ?
