- Mau constituency has always been considered a high-profile constituency because of its winning candidate and don-turned politician Mukhtar Ansari. He has represented this seat five-times and won this seat in 2017 on a BSP ticket. However, Mukhtar Ansari is not contesting the election this time as he is lodged in Banda jail in UP. His 30-year-old son Abbas Ansari has decided to take forward the ‘legacy’ and has been fielded by the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP). Abbas says attempts were made to deter Mukhtar from contesting.
