Have you ever been to Faro, Portugal? Let us know in the comments what your experience was like and if there are any places we missed seeing. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🍻
My husband went to Portugal for two weeks in 2023 September and then we went to Madeira for a week. We did go to Faro and under the archway or actually above the arch way of the city you just went into. I’m watching right now those nests were so huge for storks. It was crazy.😊 we loved Cascias (ocean town) and Porto,Douro Valley.
Viva Faro! Una ciudad que merece ser conocida. Faro no es solo un aeropuerto amigos... En el Largo San Francisco fuera de la muralla hay casas super bonitas con azulejos y miles de colores. Hasta luego. Viva Faro!
Without saying it you have demonstrated the benefits of the slow travel life. Not the top of your list however another adventure and what appears to be a nice relaxing day. Can't wait...... It's hard not to jump the gun prematurely....
You are correct Larry. It wasn't the top of our list but no reason to complain. Life is good and jumping the gun is sometimes the right thing to do!! Thank you for watching and supporting us!! Cheers!!!🍻
Soooo many great places in the Algarve. We are figuring out that we prefer the smaller towns over the big city. We are in Lagos now and really enjoying it but we will see if it can compete with the eastern half. Thank you for watching!!! Cheers!!!🍻
Hi Richard. We didn't make it to Tarragona this time but hope to be back in that region again soon. Thanks for the tip and thank you for watching! Cheers!!!🍻
Faro is not just about the beach and the airport, as you can see in the video. Faro is a historic city with a great history, Faro has a great culture, the best seafood in Portugal, that is, with great seafood restaurants. But of course if you don't appreciate these things of course it's not recommended to come to Faro. Faro is for more people who like history and culture and from what they made clear in the video, this is not the case for you, since they didn't say anything about it in the video
We visited Faro back in February, we were underwhelmed - we never made it to the beach though and that looked nice. We went on to Evora, Douro valley, Porto & Lisbon - found Porto & Lisbon very expensive (especially accommodation). Loved Carvoeiro - very high ex-pat population,,,
Agree with Faro. We were in Lisbon, Porto, and made it out to the Douro Valley three years ago and really enjoyed our time. We never made it to Carvoeiro, we will have to add it to our list! Thanks for the tip!! Cheers!!🍻
We just released a video on Lagos and show some of the beaches in that area. We also have Eastern Algarve videos that have some fantastic beaches as well. Thank you for watching!! Cheers!!!🍻
Ha!! That would be a real problem if you couldn't get back in. I'm sure there are areas you could drop Anker our tie-up and wait for low tide. Thank you for watching!!! Cheers!!!🍻
Hello Brian and Carrie, I am from London, UK and have 10 days holiday in December and would like to go to Portugal we are planning to book Airbnb which city do you suggest , we are after nice weather good food and shopping we are a couple with no children.(mid 40)
Hi! So sorry for the late reply, we were off the grid for the last week on a family cruise ☺. In December you will be facing cold weather in the Northern area, so possibly Lisbon would be the best choice. The Algarve is always a great choice, and in December Albeferia would be the most active that time of year as the other areas shut down more. Thanks so much for watching!!
Olhao (the train station just before Faro coming from Tavira) has a wonderful fish and meat market (two buildings) along the Rio Formosa. It’s a small town, small historic district, easy walk from the train station. A half-day trip. 👍🏻
We wish we had gone while we were in Cabanas. Missed the opportunity, there's just so much to see down here!! We are loving it! Thanks for the tip!! Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Indeed. Looks like you spent the entire day in Faro so stopping in Olhao would have been too much for a day. Thanks for bringing back our memories from last November. 👍🏻
We actually talked about going to Olhao and just didn't make it. It's amazing how fast time goes by even when you have a month. We are confident we will be back in this area for an extended stay at some point.
I have been told the average Portuguese is friendlier (and speaks better English) than the average Spaniard. I realize it's a compromising question, but according to your own experience, would you say that's true? Thanks!
In our experience, we would say that statement is true. We have had no issues while in Portugal. People here have been very friendly and speak English well. Thank you for watching. Cheers!!!🍻
Thank you for the continuing tour of the Algarve. What we have been surprised about is the lack of people/ tourist. Is it true that the crowds mainly show up in July and august based on your experience/understanding? If yes, are you seeing a lot of seasonal closures even in June?
Hi John. We are in Lagos now and there are plenty of tourists!! We have noticed more people in the last 2-3 weeks and sure more will arrive as the summer goes on. Everything has been open since we arrived in early May. From what we are told by the locals' places close in Dec. and Jan. in areas like Cabanas and Monte Gordo. Not really sure about some of the more populated areas like Lagos. 🍻
Hi guys, good to see you in another part of the world. I was in Portugal in 2018 attending the International Living Conference in CARVOEIRO. A well run conference with a ton of information for those interested in relocating to the country. Whilst I loved Lisbon and Cascais the most,I found the Algarve region a bit too quiet for my liking. The conference also organised a viewing of several apartments for sale and again I did not express a WOW feeling for any of them. Perhaps they were only trying to show us the cheaper end of the market to make the point that Real Estate in Portugal is Very AFFORDABLE.
Hi Alex. The eastern half of the Algarve may be a bit quiet for some but the bigger cities like Faro, Albufeira, Portimao, and Lagos in the western half have a lot more to offer. We have noticed newer, nice apartments throughout the region from east to west. Not sure about the pricing on them but maybe we can find out. We will show our rental in our video next week in Lagos. Cheers!!🍻
Hey Guys, Thanks for the Faro video. I have to saw I am underwelmed as the Spanish border town looked so pretty in your last video. I am here in Agadir and while the people are nice and the food is great a weekend is plenty. I have been here one day and have already had four people ask me to give them money. Skip North Africa and the Middle East. I have a friend like you guys and untill he gets his non lucrative visa for Spain needs a non EU country to go to. It will be in the European winter. Do you have any any suggestions? Looking forward to the Lagos video.
Hello!! Thank you, we really enjoyed Vila Real, Monte Gordo, and Cabanas and will most likely be back soon. Agreed, North Africa and the Middle East are not on our list, too many other places to see. As far as non-Schengen EU nations the Balkans are a good affordable option. We spent last winter in Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania. Ireland and the UK are also options but expensive and the winters there wouldn't be ideal. That Lagos video will be out Saturday!!! Thanks for watching! Cheers!!!🍻
I agree we went for a day trip to Faro from Tavira and was disappointed. We too an hour environmental boat trip just to fill the day. We should have stayed in Tavira
You can teke the train here in Conceição, to Olhão, and after a 15min. Walk direction riverside, south, near the mercado, on the left is the ferry to Ilha do Farol.....we arrived this afternoon for 4 days off.....so nice the temperature, in Seville, 40
Sounds perfect!! Carrie and I were just talking about the temperature in Seville today! Its only June 9th!!! UHG!!! We loved our time there but that was November!! Safe travels and enjoy!!

Thank you for your vides. Just some suggestions and these are just my own personal views: I don't find filming regular animals (pigeons, dogs, cats) that interesting; also, if you film a church or a statue, it would be nice if you said or indicated the name of the building or the person; traveling in Portugal is like traveling through history, and the more you know, the more you understand and appreciate what you are seeing. Again just my three cents...
Faro isn't bad, there are just other places in the Algarve that we prefer. So many beautiful places to see. We love this region of Portugal. Cheers!!!🍻
Have you ever been to Faro, Portugal? Let us know in the comments what your experience was like and if there are any places we missed seeing. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🍻
Just curious - have you been to Madeira?
We have not been to Madeira but it looks fantastic!!
I was in Faro for three nights last weekend (New Year's) and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would!
I’m right now in Faro it’s lovely 😊
My Goodness it's so calm and quiet.. I love it!

Luv it! Thanks. I’m going to Faro for 2 weeks and taking it slow lol :)
Enjoyed watching the Faro coverage.
Thank you CM!! 🍻🍻
This may not be top of the list but all of the Algarve looks wonderful! Nice one guys 🤙🤙
Thank you!!! We love the Algarve! Looking forward to your Thailand video!!!!

Faro is the best day trip of the central Algarve region, and is highly recommended if you are on holiday to Albufeira, Vilamoura or Quarteira.
Faro is a great central location for sure! We are really enjoying Lagos and loved Vila Real as well.
Thanks for watching and safe travels!!

I hear it gets really hot in the summer. How hot does it get? In F please.
It will get hot in the summertime, well into the 90's.

In Faro you can see, perhaps, the only train bridge in the world that prevents boats from leaving the marina at high tide. It's a tourist attraction.
Ha!! That would be a real problem if you couldn't get back in. I'm sure there are areas you could drop Anker our tie-up and wait for low tide. Thank you for watching!!!

They only accept cash. We are finding a lot of places only accept cash. There are ATMs everywhere.
