Hey Rich, you are correct.... Every time i drive overnight, i see more drivers that are swerving all over the road from being tired....

I own my truck. No need to be a mechanic. That definitely helps, but without a truck note here at prime my fixed costs are $82 a week. Kinda hard to fail when overhead is that low and plenty meat on the bone for mechanical if needed.

For sure, my truck paid off, making any repairs is light work especially because I’m pre def I spend about 6 to 7k a year on repairs

@@jdon09 I pay 29.99 a week that for physical damage insurance and $6 for bt of that 82. When leased on to prime, cargo, trailer interchange and general liability etc is no weekly cost the 28% cut of the line haul covers those big insurances.

I’m definitely burn out I’m trucking. I’m making OK money as a company guy, at a certain mega everybody’s talking about. I’m home daily, but never home. Just today. I woke up at 4 AM to start my shift. Only to have an issue with my container as I was pre-tripping. They saw that I wasn’t on duty yet. And I was told to stay off duty until the repair was done. I waited six hours. Now I’m starting my day. Only to drive and get back home probably closer to 10 or 11 o’clock at night. I don’t feel like I’m mistreated here, but I definitely feel like I am pushed to do things I don’t normally want to do. Most of my runs are 2 to 3 loads. Often taking my day up all 14 hours. Many days I have to PC back to the yard. They could easily bring a few more drivers on and lighten a load. But it seems like we can’t really keep anybody because all they do is just take more loads. It’s rough. I thought about buying a cheap truck and just doing power only somewhere. Or maybe just being a lease operator at Swift’s. At this point OTR or Regional at least with allow me to sleep 10 hours if I wanted to. I obviously want to make more than 1000 a week and I certainly don’t wanna make less, but I don’t have a life at home, so I might as will be leaving out of the truck again. I just want to work how I want to work. If I want to drive 11 hours one day cool. Maybe I’ll do eight next. But I don’t want 3 to 4 days in a row by for 14 hours. It’s just really fatigue. I’ve never been a drug addict or an alcoholic, but working these long days like this. By the time I get to my truck all I wanna do is have a few drinks and relax. Just so I can sleep and feel rested. But I know that it doesn’t do that, and I don’t want to feel like crap the next day. so I don’t even do anything. I can’t remember the last time I even watched a TV show. It’s just home and sleep. And when I get my 34 usually helping family with something and wishing I didn’t have to drive even to the grocery store. It’s rough out here it really is.

This is why I'm a company driver. I got rid of everything before I started this trucking journey. Everything I own is now in this company's truck. When I get tired I try to take my 34 wherever I am. I take home time once a month and I stay in the truck the entire time. My biggest problem is these fools keep giving me pre plans before I'm finished with my current load. They're trying to run me into the ground when I honestly didn't get into this business to work this damn hard. I know it sounds dumb but it is what it is. I like to relax and drive leisurely. Not drive 500-600 miles a day. I guess I'm "lucky".
