Scott Patterson has talked about that rumor that he and Lauren Graham didn’t like each other on his podcast and said that it’s not true. Press was on the set on a rough day and ran with the story that they hated eachother
27:38... IDK that Emily is saying that Lorelei failed so much as They failed her.... I get that it can be taken either way. But i believe Emily is focused on not repeating "the sins of the past". She wants to "save"Rory from the way they Failed Lorelie. Emily is still dealing with unresolved guilt 🤷♀️
You are NOT misremembering. Emily WAS more humane in the earlier seasons. When the writing started to show cracks in season five, it actually first became visible through Emily becoming a cartoon villain. I think that goes to show that Emily as a concept of a character is very rich and layered and difficult to pull off and do right; when the writers are on their game, they can give the character everything she needs to be the woman who dazzled you in the first four seasons, but when they themselves can no longer match the brilliance of the character they created, it immediately shows. Contrast this with someone like Kirk. Once they figured out how to make him funny, he remained funny even as the overall show quality went down (helped by Sean Gunn's performance of course, but also because he's not as rich or complicated a character as Emily). But Emily required more effort, because she's such a hard character to get right.
I don't get Lorelai, i really don't. Her father realized that he was wrong and that Rory is floundering. He tried to go to her for help and come up with a new plan and while I understand her frustrations because he went against her at first, she is so damn stubborn sometimes. She kicked Rory out for not going back to Yale, and yet she thought her dad taking away her trust fund was uncool? That makes no sense to me. And wow, her grandparents just moving her back into the upstairs room because they found out she was sleeping with Logan was pretty ridiculous. I'm surprised how Rory just ignores everything and lets everyone walk all over her though but I guess she doesn't really have much leverage in this situation. I was so so so happy to see Lorelai and Rory talking finally but I found it weird because Rory called her all upset and angry and then at the party they were all nice to one another.
I don't know whether Emily meant that Lorelai was a failure, but that it would be a failure for Emily and Richard for Rory to get pregnant on their watch, especially since it happened before. I don't like defending Emily, and I know that hurt Lorelai, but she doesn't want Rory to become pregnant at this point in her life either.
"Asian friend." Just learn her name. Or what's your friend's name? She has dark hair and glasses? That one? At least don't repeat it. If you had her address, you must have her name. (Me ranting at Emily.) Also interesting that Rory says to invite Paris but doesn't answer whether they are friends.
Hi Trophy, you should do reaction videos for the tv series Mildred Pierce it’s about four to five episodes, has strange parallels to Gilmore Girls even though it is set in the Depression era. It stars Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood as well as Guy Pierce. Or at least check it out yourself.
Yeah Lorelai kind of deserved it when they pulled Rory away to sing happy birthday. Sorry not sorry. Saying she wants Rory to "want" to go to Yale - well then, why did you completely shut her out when she clearly expressed to you what SHE "wanted'. I don't believe Lorelai on that at all, she's basically manipulating Rory using the silent treatment.
According to a reliable source, someone who worked on the show, Scott was very difficult to work with. Quite an ego. And I’ve heard NUMEROUS accounts of Scott (luke) being an absolute wanker.
who's this "reliable" source? i've only ever heard good things about scott. i've heard people bitching about not liking his supposed politics, but nothing objectively bad about him.
🥴🥴🥴i get Luke not knowing... But I know you have been given the run down. Almost forgive you based on the location difference... But the "forgetting" along with the posh mockery 🤔🤔🤔 almost seems to go beyond the show 🤔🤔 But, to give you benefit of the doubt. And a refresher course.... DAR is the daughters of the American revolution. They do a lot of charitable work. Put the prestige is being able to trace your genealogy back to a revolutionary fighter. Almost a badge of honor saying I can prove my family was here longer than a lot of other immigrants to America. (And let's face it, at some point in time almost all Americans were immigrants 🤷♀️). Someone whose family didn't come to the country until the 1800s could never become a member of DAR 🤷♀️
I love Luke's face when Rory introduced him as "Step father to be".
Shock and pride mixed into a single shake of the head 😊
The dream sequences was a callback to Rorys 16th birthday in season 1, when Lorelai woke her up at 0400am and told her the story of her birth ☹

Yeah it was the opposite, he wasn't meant to be such a huge part of the show but they had such great chemistry they worked him in more 😊
@@withempress Luke was originally supposed to be a woman too. (Not that this would necessarily impede a romance now on TV.)
"Dealing with this family is stressful." That goes for your family too, Logan.
he would agree with that though
@@irem021 Emphatically.
So excited for the next episode.
8:25 "is that for Jackson? Send him to the gallows" LMFAO ur my fav reactor frfr
Just watched someone do a first ep/last ep watch and he immediately decided Jackson should never speak. On sight.
@@HuntingViolets HAHA that's iconic and so relatable
It still cracks me up that Emily and Richard assumed that at 21, with a long-term boyfriend, Rory was still a virgin, lol!
basically multiple long term relationships too lol!
@@abbyo6578 And after Lorelai, they should be well aware that teens and young adults may be having sex, lol!
@ exactly hahaha
Madeleine Albright was the first woman to serve as the U.S. Secretary of State.
The fact that he didn’t know that made me feel ancient. Just a not so gentle reminder that the Clinton presidency was eons ago.
@@la_beatrice He's also English.
I had the same reaction as you during the reverend scene.
Scott Patterson has a podcast about the show and is still very invested in it (or was, the last time I heard about it).

Wearing a 21 Pilots shirt for the 21st birthday ep :)

Yeah.. such a great episode! Rory is start to thinking again.. ❤😊 This season is graat!!!

I was waiting for this one! Greetings from Brasil.
Next episode is one of the iconic ones!

Rory was angry because she wanted Lorelai there so badly but made little effort once she was there.
Bro you are KILLING me with the "La Laa's" 😂 Yes, that is the music. You would think after six seasons you would have gotten used to it by now 😂😭

So cute!! ❤ I'm watching from Costa Rica 🇨🇷🇨🇷
Rory lost her virginity to dean and also didn’t Rory and Lorelai talked in always a godmother, never a god?
Thank you 😍

An adaptation of James M. Cain's novel and closer to it than the Joan Crawford version (also good).
