From Randall: "The technique is important and meant to achieve the shaping wanted but in a way that keeps the user safe. I use what I have coined the "dominant / non-dominant hand" method. You cannot hurt yourself or anyone around you with it's use. My method has both hands on the chisel at all times as they provide power/thrust (dominant hand) & steering/guidance (non-dominant hand). As for clamping, I never clamp anything unless I am glueing blocks together. My rubber mat holds the work in place which negates the need to ever clamp."
Thank you for the details
Good job
Thanks ! 👍
It was helpful that you showed the process.
Hy what is the type of the wood
Dear brother is softness or certain types of woods required for carving ?
A question! Does “S” means skew? “F” means finish, etc? I just got some sets of Schaaf chisels
I really want to get good at this whatever it takes, I’m intimidated by the techniques in sharpening tho, I’ve had bad luck in that, suggestions plz
I’m learning lots of technique from these videos. What should we be doing to keep the tools sharp?
If you're tools are already sharpened, get yourself a strop to keep them sharp!
@@SchaafTools that might be good to show in the videos. Or at least mention to remind people that these things need to be maintained.
@@MrMNRichardWright That's the next video we're working on!
