  • An excellent visit to Hitchin on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from VTEC, Grand Central, First Hull Trains, Govia Great Northern and various freight from DB Schenker and Colas Rail.
    We start seeing the 313 EMU's making their appearance as well as one of the first Colas Rail class 66 locomotives that I've seen since I first started filming. I get a few tones throughout the course of the video. Network Rail were out during this video, you can't see them but they are working on the corner heading towards London Kings Cross so you'll also hear a couple of late tones after they have passed me.
    I was going to film on the station itself but as soon as I got out of the car I instantly liked the spot I was standing at as I could get a good view of both directions of the line.
    I hope you all enjoy watching and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did filming it.
    My next station is Stevenage which I thoroughly enjoyed filming at.

    Wow, the three-tone on the Virgin 225 is certainly enough to wake one up!! Best wishes, Chip

    A good variation for a film and very handy for the car. What l enjoyed although no stopping trains was the span across the lines giving the panoramic following of these trains good close ups, especially the nearside line, and not making the train feel too close. Great call .

    5:45, I think that was a warning horn because you were dangerously close!

    The 225 set was going slow because if the 365s were working a fast service from King's Lynn or Ely, then the 225 would have to allow the 365s to get onto the fast lines.

    Great film at Hitchin. :) Really looking forward to Stevenage. :) How did Stevenage get it's name? If it was named after a man called Steven then which Steven is the namesake for Stevenage?

    Thank you for another great video, I know you have just about wrapped up filming on the ecml, but is there any vantage point where U can see trains crossing the bottleneck on the Welyn viaduct? Also nice to see some freight for a change. Its ironic that if I was an avid railfan/spotter of NA trains I could have copped just about every class ever built. Due to the fact I live near the main CN/Via line between Toronto & Montreal as most of the class 66 built in London Ont passed through here on tow in multiples on way to either Montreal or Halifax docks. I never did see any movements but a friend of mine seen 6 in tow mixed in a frt train all in brand new liveries of the last batch built.
    Cheers

      +Greg Palmer That last batch could very well have been the units ordered by GBRF. When I go to Welwyn North that's where I'll be seeing the bottleneck in full swing. That will be filmed and uploaded next week

    For my first time ever, I was on a Great Northern 387 to Peterborough. My god, they're smooth. I do however think that they're quite slow. I think that the 365s are faster. They're also hard to catch at Huntingdon. Please leave your opinion about the 387. Do you think they're slower than 365? Do you think they're hard to find? Please tell me your side. Thanks

    • @Tornado922
      @Tornado922  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't travelled on a 387 as of yet although I have travelled on one of their sister units the 377 when they were in operation with Thameslink, so from my experience on those units I found the levels of comfort to be very high, the acceleration to me seems just as good as the 365 units. Top Speed I believe they are exactly the same, they are becoming easier to find in particular if you are around the London area.
