There is a historical and iconic Central Market in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica! It was established in 1880 and has been deemed a cultural heritage. The Central Market it takes up a whole block of Central Avenue! It is amazing and has so many rows rows of skinny narrow pathways filled with shops of all kind. Souvenirs, wood carvings, leather work, clothing, spices, herbs, candy, restaurants, traditional foods, etc. It is the perfect place to buy your souvenirs. Not only is it a fun and cool atmosphere, the prices are far better than most anywhere in the country. So I would recommend, if you are in the area or you are flying out of San Jose, make a stop here to get all your souvenirs. You will be glad you waited!!
