I own the Legacy Touring XT with all the options; black paint black leather. I love it Very comfortable, smooth driving, high on safety and fast. Also very roomy in the front, back and trunk. It has more of everything than most comparable 4 doors. I was considering the Audi A4 but this car is a lot better in every category and cost less. All of this and it is very reliable.

I think you nailed it when you described it as a cruiser & as a cruiser it’s perfect for me. Just traded in a ‘22 Ascent Onyx for a ‘24 legacy Touring XT & I have to admit that I miss all that room. But the trade-off is better acceleration (to be expected) & the better mpg. (Also to be expected) I could have waited another three years to buy a sedan but knowing that they’re discontinuing the Legacy after the 2025 line made me grab this one early. Overall no regrets. Nice review.
I’m glad you agree! I filmed this almost a year ago so I don’t remember what I said lol. I did just film a 2025 Premium, and I’ll make it public from my membership program in the next couple weeks. I’m really sad to see them go. Congrats on your Touring, what a cool sedan!
I currently own the EXACT same car, including the color, as is shown in this demo. I live in Colorado where Subaru are practically mandated by law. In Colorado it is called the Passenger Vehicle Traction Law, which states if "chain laws" are in effect, you have to have at least Mud & Snow tires AND either AWD or 4WD to drive on the interstate. Break that rule and get caught, it gets VERY expensive in a big hurry. So when this law went into effect, I traded in my 2007 Dodge Caravan with 216K miles on it for a 2017 Legacy Premium with 63K on it for $14K. I drove it to 90K I was living at 9,600 feet above sea level and the 2.5 liter could barely get out of its own way. It taught you patience while driving in the mountains because passing was absolutely out of the question. I paid off the 2017 Legacy and began shopping for a Legacy Sport as it is the cheapest Subaru with a turbocharger. I found one in Ogden, Utah and drove over on 12/30/2022 to pick it up and trade in the 2017. The reason that Legacy's don't sell is the fact that dealership do NOT keep them in stock. I found dealerships with 40+ Outbacks on the lot with 3 Legacys, but not in the Sport Trim. I finally found one a 12 hour drive away. I drove overnight on desolate snowy Instates to get my 2023 Legacy Sport. My beloved Legacy was safe and steady on the snow packed roads leaving traffic behind repeatedly during the 12 hour drive. I picked up my 2023 on New Year's Eve and left for home early on New Year's Day morning. You are probably now wondering, "Hey, didn't you say you own the very same car as is in the demo? He demoed a 2024." Well you are right. Remember NOTHING bad ever happens on 4/20. Adolf Hitler's birthday, the Columbine High School shootings, and my brand new 2023 getting totaled as I was turning into my driveway. I got rear ended at about 50 mph. On June 11, 2023, I was able to pick up my Cosmic Blue 2024 Legacy Sport in Greeley, Colorado. The 2023 was Titanium Gray. Both cars needed significant break in periods. The original gas mileage on the 2023 was pretty poor. I read MANY comments saying that mileage would improve by about 10K miles. Mileage on the 2023 was improving but it did not live along enough to get its first oil change. The 2024 initial gas mileage was better. The turbo lag is 3 seconds at full throttle. I have 17K miles on it now and if you give it full throttle, you count down 3 -2-1 and then the power kicks in and it will literally snap your neck! I looked at the WRX a lot before I decided to stay with the Legacy Sport. The deciding factor was WRX REQUIRES premium gas where as the Legacy Sport runs quite happily on regular gas and gets much better gas mileage besides. My suggestion to Subaru would be to get rid of the tail spoiler and make the sunroof (which I hate and will NEVER open so it can not leak) an option or delete it. I did spend an extra $3K for the 10 year, 100K miles warranty. At $3K that warranty is practically free. I retired in March and this will probably be the last car I ever own so I don't want any big dollar surprises in my "lack of golden years". Mazda makes a nice, competing product if you have an additional $10K to spend. Mazda will give you equality with the $35K Legacy Sport for about $45K. After all we all have a spare $10K to burn, right?
Great review!! Friend of mine has a Hyundai Sonata N-Line. Nice vehicle with an actual 8 speed transmission. However I still like the Legacy’s looks and I think it handles better! Plus it has AWD!! Need that in the Northeast!!
Got 2013 Legacy coming from mostly Toyota has been a great reliable car. The AWD like no other in bad weather 🌧️ or ❄️ it give you peace of mind you're in control but of course with proper tires. AWD with bad tires useless for those who got bad tires on AWD car's. I just wish Legacy came in hybrid form pushing mpg to the 40mpg.
That’s awesome, I’m glad it’s been good to you! Yeah, these with more power and MPG but the same AWD system would only be that much better! Thanks for watching! 🙂
For sure, I wonder how many units they need to sell a year for it to be profitable enough that they keep offering it. It’s sad to see so many sedans disappearing. 😢
Well I ordered one yesterday. Going from 2020 forester sport. I like the forester, just wish it had the turbo and got it for a different reason at the time.
Love it as a chill sleeper sedan which looks quite spacious...thinking of getting one, but have to look at more Subarus...still enjoying my 2017 Infiniti QX50 W custom exhaust, air filters and nice aftermarket wheels, so not sure if I should jump to it yet...we will see how pricing is at different dealers. Nice review! Also was curious if you have driven the base models or Turbo less? And have you driven the Impreza RS???
You’re spot on, these turbo Legacy’s are cool. 😎 Yeah, I’ve driven a few 2023 non turbo Legacys and all 3 of the new 2024 Imprezas including the RS. All those reviews are on my channel! Thanks for watching. 🙂
The best sedan Subaru made was the bl Subaru Legacy or the 2005 -2009 version. I would argue that this isn't a sedan and just a lowered version of the crossover Outback.
I'd buy one if it had a manual transmission option with the turbo. If Subari can put a manual in the WRX they can put one in this. Some WRX buyers might want a larger fun to drive car.
I have a 23 legacy sport. I absolutely love it but I wish they did put the better cvt in the sport model like they have in the WRX. Then it would be almost perfect. Another 100 hp would have been nice but then I guess you can't get 30 mpg.
Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that the whole "density altitude" correction is completely obsolete when dealing with modern turbocharged vehicles. The boost is electronically controled to deliver the same amount of actual manifold pressure whether the car is at\above\below sea level no matter what. So no matter how dense the air is under normal conditions it gets compressed to the same level of pressure inside the engine no matter what.
That’s a good question and I’m not entirely sure, other than if it depends on each individual vehicle and how properly it’s tuned to sense that and compensate. I’ve tested different new turbo vehicles at a true altitude of around 3,700’ and DA ranging from 2,500-7,500’ and sometimes they’re fairly close to “rated” times when subtraction the 1’ roll out, and other times they’re up to a full second or more slower. So basically idk, lol. That’s why I have just assumed Turbo and SC boost still lost 50% of what NA lose, which is 3-3.5% per 1,000’ of DA. 🤷♂️😛
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 The turbocharger takes it up to its maximum sea level boost of around 12 psi. The 2.5 liter at 9,200 feet above sea level could barely pull out of the driveway at the hotel where I used to work. When I made a return visit in my Legacy Sport, it flew out of the driveway, no problem. The turbocharger eliminates the altitude issue and I drove both between 9,600 and 10,152 when I live in Leadville, Colorado. Yeah the turbocharger is NOT an option at those altitudes.
Actually, in the US at least, the Legacy is the ONLY sedan Subaru sells, although there are rumors that it may soon be discontinued. That said, it is a good value, since the 2.5L engine is standard, in contrast to the Impreza. The Legacy has held the line on prices pretty well, while other Subaru models (especially the Crosstrek/Impreza) have crept up in price pretty badly. I’ve honestly never driven a 3.6 as they were discontinued well before I started my channel a year ago. But I’ve often heard people love them. I just know the 2.4 has more efficient power delivery providing faster acceleration and better mpg. I also think this 2.4 is very reliable, unlike the former EJ (2.0 and 2.5) turbo Boxers. If this 2.4 wasn’t available I would certainly take a 3.6 over the old EJ turbo.

I went to a Subaru dealer today and looked at one. I’m sure that it’s very nice, but I thought that it was very boring. It needs something to give it some pizzazz.
Do you think a really fat guy and his hefty wife could fit comfortably in the Legacy Sport front seats without our sweaty arms touching each other? My impreza is just way too small.
I paid $99 for three years on mine. You can also track the location of the car and Subaru will work with law enforcement to disable your car and help law enforcement retrieve it. Well worth the money.
If this car lost the driver distraction mitigation, and the auto stop start; if they replaced the turbo with a naturally aspirated V6; if I it had a CD drive in the dash; if it had a geared automatic; if it could carry more weight; if there were physical controls for climate; and if they'd give us a traditional key, I'd buy one.
It sounds like they need to reproduce the last generation with the 3.6! It’s a shame so many vehicles are moving away from those features you’ve mentioned. 😕
Compare a Legacy Sport with all of its equipment to its direct competitors with AWD and a turbo. I did before I replaced my 2023. EVEYBODY, Ford, Chevy, Mazda all came in at $10K more money, so the Legacy Sport is NOT overpriced. The Outback is overpriced. I have never considered the Outlook a good value.

Would be perfect if they offered it as a hatchback.
That would be a cool configuration! A non lifted traditional hatchback. 😎
As cars go, Subaru is very good, but DO NOT pay extra for a turbo. It's just a waste of money.
Unless you live in Colorado. Colorado buys more Subarus than the rest of the country combined, at least so goes the urban legend.
Terribly slow , but gets good gas mileage
Вот скажи мне,американец,в чем сила?
It’s Turbo is a strength! 😎
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208сила в правде брат. И тот сильнее, у кого ее больше.
That definitely wouldn’t be a Subaru then. I don’t see them ever going to a V6.
IF they did all that, it would be a completely different car LOL
Umm none of the competition have a V6 either in order to meet mpg requirements
Overprice and boring vehicle. 😂
No it's mature and elegant.....
