Finding the perfect jeans as we all know, is not an easy task. But what makes a pair of jeans 'the one' in the first place? It's all very individual of course, what works for one, might not work for another.
After years of research and trying on probably hundreds of different fits, I think I've finally cracked it! So that's what I want to share with you all today:) All the style tips you need to know for finding that pair of denim jeans that really give you that skip in your step! Who does a high waist really work for, why leg lengths matter and what it is about even marginally different tones that can make all the difference.
As always with my videos, my aim is to be as helpful as possible, so I really hope you finish today's video full to the brim of knowledge of how to find the best jeans, for you. I loved the dark flared jean - my absolute fav! Not really into straight or mom jeans as they don’t really do anything for me. Particularly with mom jeans, my hips are too narrow

After many years, I came back to boyfriend jeans! Find that's what suits me best, plus feels so comfortable - that combination is so hard to beat . Dark wash is definitely my favourite ( and white, but only when the weather is nice).😊

Hi, Jess. My favorite outfit is the first one - red boucle jacket, straight leg jeans, black sling back kitten heels, black purse, and white t shirt. I have drawn inspiration from that outfit, and am excited to wear it this week! I am tall and thin with very broad shoulders. In order to create balance, i almost always wear bootcut. You are so creative, and i appreciate the time and thought you put into making each video.
This is such a great video, most of my jeans aren't quite fitting at the moment as I am struggling a bit with my weight (menopause ugh). I wanted to treat myself to just one pair that fit me now and this has been incredibly helpful in choosing the most versatile pair for my existing wardrobe, and the River Island ones are so affordable. x
Hi Helen, aah I know that feeling lovely, my weight is all over the place at the moment! Finding the 'right' pair for you honestly makes a massive difference to how you feel in them. It's often not you that's the problem, you just haven't found the right pair yet! So relate to this, I’m in perimenopause and weight gain is alarming. But got 1 larger Jean to help feel comfortable then hope to go back to my other jeans when it stabilizes

It's so important isn't it Lynne:) I daren't think how mnay jeans I've bought in the past because I thought I should, they tick a trend box, everyone else is wearing them etc etc! And ultimately because they weren't the right fit for me I always felt uncomfortable in them:/ Finding the perfect fit and sticking with that style is definitely my motto for that perfect everyday pair:) Happy Sunday Lynne

Jessica I’m sorry to say that jeans are the bane of my existence! I do not wear any pair of jeans for comfort. I wear jeans for style. That said, I’m going through a middle-age phase of weighing more than I’ve ever weighed in my life and jeans don’t fit me like they used to. I’m petite at 5’1” and weigh 133#. I used to be comfortable in any kind of jean when I weighed 110#. So due to weight gain, I’m now wearing “curvy” high waisted jeans. Only sometimes they’re baggy around my hips. I’ve chosen to ignore the bagginess in exchange for the comfort. On casual days, I’ll wear straight-leg jeans with loafers or ballet flats. When I go out with friends, I’ll wear boot-cut or flares. I do agree with your advice on stick with what you know. Recently I purchased a pair of wide-leg jeans and they looked ridiculous on me. You looked good in all the jeans but my favorite outfit was the tan trench coat, white t, and the wide leg jeans. I just wish I were tall enough to pull that outfit off.

Good Morning wonderful,beautiful Jess❣️50+ years of wearing my favorite article of clothing - JEANS. However, that LONG time frame comes with a LONG FLAT bum now. People always suggest you wear jeans with higher pocket placement to lift your rear and I don’t agree with that at all- I think it accentuates what now hangs too much below the back pockets! I say, lower and not too tiny pockets help with my issues,along with them not having such a high waist in the back compared with the front waist. Love, An old lady who’s rectangular/ inverted triangle shape will NEVER stop wearing her denim👏😊. Have a superb week with your boys💐😘

I haven't quite found the perfect jeans yet, have been very very close on a couple but when I got the jackpot I'm buying 8 pairs 🤣🤣. Jess, Great video, very informative. I am a lot shorter than you, only 5'4". But I have a similar body shape as you, between rectangle and a skinny hour glass. After trying on hundreds of pairs of jeans from different brands, over the years, I finally found my favorite style of jeans in Walmart (Time and True.), high waisted, slightly loose straight leg jeans. It fits so well and looks so good and so comfortable, I bought three pairs in different colors and length to ensure they will last for a while. You are right, designer jeans doesn't guarantee perfect fit.
Oh boy jeans can be quite the challenge. There are so many options to choose from, and sometimes what I like isn't always the optimal in shape for my body.
Currently, I like a pair by Pilco called the wanderer. They've got some volume but the fabric isn't too heavy, it's a nice mid weight denim. They give me some curves without overwhelming my petite frame, and they're not boring.

Love a longer jeans or any pant. The only thing that keeps me from letting them drag is the wear. Never liked skinny jeans, thrilled to finally be able to easily find fuller, flared or straight leg cuts. I’m 4ft 10 inches and 78 years old and know a narrower cut looks better on me but in my head I’m 5’10”, so don’t care. Loved this analysis. Blessings

Hi Molly, great idea:) I do much the same! Funnily enough the other night ‘out out’ I wore high waisted cords (nicer than they sound) and straight leg jeans with nice knits in the daytime. Definitely in my happy place with those combos:)
Hi Jess this is sooo helpful and educational. Now I understand why I don't feel good in some of my jeans, they're the wrong style for my body shape 😮. The tip about not having jeans wider than your shoulders made me realize why a perfectly smart almost new, pair of trousers don't feel right on me, they feel heavy too as there's so much fabric in them! Yes, jeans are so challenging to shop for. The high-rise inseam is most suitable for my petite stature. I liked the pair of jeans you are wearing and the wide-leg style on you the best. I did take the tip you provided to size up so that I don't get that skin-tight look or feel. Comfort is of utmost importance to me. It has also been suggested to wear your jeans at least 5 times or more before you wash them. This was a great video and so helpful.

Hello my friend Jess 👋🏽, excellent video. Denim is the most challenging to find the perfect fit, style, material, waist, rinse, rise, hem & stitching. Great suggestions. I have finally found the perfect pair of denim jeans for my petite hourglass shape. I prefer a curvy, dark rinse, bootcut ,mid rise jean with darker or golden stitching. The brand I found for my 5’1 hourglass figure is Angel Jeans. They have a cotton/polyester/elastin blend & the fit is smaller on waist,loose on the hip/thigh. I so appreciate this video as this is definitely the most challenging item in my wardrobe to get the perfect fit.

Goodmorning Jess, I love jeans, but used to hate shopping for them. Until I discovered the brand Rosner and the model Antonia size 38 is the perfect fit for me. I have five of them by now and they all look completely different in washing and style, but the fit around my waist and hips will always be the same. I can even order online in sale and it’ll be a perfect fit😊They are not cheap, between €100-€150, depending on style and embellishments, but I’ll rather save for a new pair than getting frustrated shopping for cheaper ones. I’m so happy about your comment regarding the length of the jeans 😂. I’m exactly the same. I love my flares 1 millimeter from the floor (specially with pointy everything) and I have very long legs and 174cm. I keep on forcing myself to order a couple of shorter ones to wear with other styles of shoes but is an internal fight 😂.

So glad you enjoyed the video:) I would suggest 3-4 really great pairs that you feel great in should be more than enough. We're creatures of habit so we find ourselves always reaching for the same pairs so I would focus on finding 3-4 'perfect' ones that tick a few different boxes. For example I would have the perfect fitting straight leg, a wide leg option, a pair with the perfect ankle skimming crop and perhaps a darker pair of jeans as a 'go to' for wearing in the evening. You don't need masses of pairs of jeans in your wardrobe you just need a few of the right ones for you:) Hope that helps lovely

I hate trousers and jeans that come up too short too. Unfortunately I've got quite long legs and a short body. I wear an M&S 12 long with flat shoes. So I often just put up with jeans and trousers that aren't quite as long as I would like.

In 50 years of searching, I’ve never found a pair of jeans that comes close to a wearable fit, my hips and thighs are just too narrow. The closest I’ve found are 501s (men’s, not their special women’s fit), but they’re not great-fitting, either. I wish brands would offer different fits, not all women are big on the bottom half with tiny waists! I end up just not wearing jeans, they’re always too tight in the waist. But if I size up, they look ridiculously huge in the hips, seat and thighs.
That's interesting. I would describe my style as quite classic and polished and yet I love a wide leg jean. The opposite of what you said!
To me the wide legs are more elegant, along the lines of wide leg trousers. Especially in a really dark wash.
And I have never liked skinny jeans and have never owned a pair, because to me they are a similar silhouette to leggings which I also hate. I just think that they're far too scruffy!
The only thing worse than short jeans and trousers is the baggy/cropped jeans & trousers, the clown look, which seems to be popular of late 😕 not sure why, it doesn't look good on anyone.
You are right, and I bought this summer two crop jeans in normal fit 😮. In my opinion they can be used only in summer with flat sandals or with pumps but for autumn or winter… I don’t find any chance.
