    Hey Jerome, great video, I’m just curious as to what ratio you mix your pumice, lava, calcined clay and bark? 1:1? Also, I noticed in a lot of your videos at the shop you speak of your all purpose soil that includes all of the above plus charcoal and expanded clay and turf ace I believe? Which is your most recent mix and why did you happen to change it? Thanks!

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Troy Torman hey Troy, the mix with charcoal was our first mix and we perfected it over the years and now use lava pumice, calcined clay and pine bark.

    How did you get the trunk to be so thick and impressive on a plant that is only 15 years old and only been in training for 10 years?

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      very easy! you can thicken up trunks very quickly by letting your trees get over grown. I would let it grow out to about 3 feet away from the trunk and then cut it back hard, and let it grow out again. If you do this over a period of time the trunk will thicken up pretty fast

  • @karloman00

    Hi there, I really enjoy your channel and after watching your videos on Jade Trees i was wanting to ask a question. If i have a Jade Tree 20 years old and i cut a major branch off and pot it for say 1 year. How old is this new (but old) tree?

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋🏻 thank you for your kind words. So it gets a little tricky, but the branch’s age depends on which branch you take the cutting from. The bottom branches are generally older than the branches towards the top. So let’s say your tree is 20 years old perhaps the bottom branches would be around 10-15 and the top maybe 5 years old. Something like that.

    I have a question. It's regarding cuts . If it's a smooth cut at a branch to remove a stubb above a ring does everything above the lowest ring or node suffer. So the cut is a previous heal cut I wanted to smooth out. But had no ring behind it except above and below a large branch on the main trunk. I simply chopping for taper. Thought smooth out the cut with the trunk. Then noticed no rings except above and below the branch. It's large . Just not sure if these cuts heal or am I going to get big diie back. Of so I would just cut now rather then risk rot to the entire tree. Because I'm just not sure how jades heal a cut like this. Ty hope I made sense.

    I have accidentally damaged quite thick branches and taped them up and they have fused and survived...
    Keep up the good work...kindest regards
