You really got me with cutting the wrong branch at first haha. You really pulled off the “getting a haircut in the middle of the video” and didn’t think we would notice.
My heart almost stood still with nearly everything you did to that tree:D This is such a different approach to treating plant in comparision to tropical plants like I collect.
The new angle makes so much difference I'm in the early stages of growing my mini jade and alot of the jade videos are not in English so I just have to learn by watching. So thanks for this help and information. Keep up the good work 👍
Very nice tree. The Jade is a perfect subject for those of us that got into bonsai when we were too old to wait 30 years to get the results we're after. :0)
This guy provided me with so much straight to the point useful information about my Jade bonsai my brain is swollen. I push that subscribe button so fast it was like an auto pilot move...It was meant to be.
Averill Carey here. Im so gratefull that you so this tu pi e of "gardening" i and a recover amputee. Azz nd rhis fulfills my life.. I actually went N boubout a Jade plant and I'm going to give a go. Wish me luck. I'll keepbyou posted. Please keep posting videos. Thanks a million for doing so. Grate Bonsai by the way. Averill
i watched this video about 10 times and im telling you its 1 amazing tree. i really waiting u to upload more videos about portulacaria afra bonsais trees that would be aosome ! aspeicelly will be nice to see this tree at the moment :)
Very good video with superb explanations and good styling decisions! Thanks! If only my wife was such a good help as Mary by repotting oder other Bonsaiwork. You're a great couple and I wish for you it remains like that.
See your just giving it out..ive been looking to find the secondary development videos...this is in depth..just how I love bonsai up close and personal..thank you..no beading around the bush with you my friend.
People are talking about having 10+ year old Portulacaria Afra and I'm over here with a 4 year old that I just now learned I could do this cool bending with!!! OMG!!
I’m telling you Jerome sometimes your videos remind me that I have things to do in my little garden except I wish the Port Afra in mind was still the size of the one that you was working on.
Hi Jerome, Thank you it is a very good video with superb explanations and good styling of the Portulaceria afra (here in South Africa we just call them spekbome, if you translate it directly to English it will be called "bacon tree") keep up the good work.
When Mari repotted the cutting ( The branch ) did she just put the branch in soil or did you wait til it rooted? thank you for this video. Love your Jade tree...
Kind of weird about the flowering only in dry climates because I have many Portulacaria Afra here in Phoenix AZ, extremely dry, and I've never seen a flower. Great plant. Leaves taste good imo too! Green apple taste.
LOVE IT!!!! I had a nice Jade Bonsai, if it were still alive it would be over 20 yrs. Well after about 5 yrs. hehe a football came over the fence and direct shot DAMN, it had to be my jade!!!!
how long is the wire left in place love the channel this plant and adenium are favorite my plant produced flower here in metro Phoenix if it flowers this year i will send photos it is in a large container can you give me advice on a fertilizer thx BillyT Buckeye AZ
thanks for your videos, they have been very helpful. I ask you if cuttings should be brought in for winter(zone 7/8) especially perennials. thanks. Peter
In my honest opinion, if I may be so blunt, I would suggest taking off that first branch completely, as its obstructing your nebari and then next branch on that side is a perfect substitute, not only higher up the trunk, but on the outside of the curve and enhancing your taper.
Phasic's Bonsai World hi, thank you for your suggestion. It has crossed my mind of removing the first branch, but I feel like that would give the tree too much negative space on the left. I’ll leave the branch until I’m ready to remove it.
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply I do agree, just a suggestion, Bonsai is amazing as it is, so would not be a problem to enjoy it as it is, you have inspired me!
Hi Jerome… what do you do with the old mixed soil… can you reuse it. And I have a d jade that I would like your opinion on. Let me know ho to send you the pics or video. Thanks Alex
Great vid. Thanks! I’m in Fla. and got a Jade pre-bonsai this year. Hope in 10 years mine will look half as beautiful as the one in the vide. How long will you leave the wires on before cutting off? I haven’t tried wiring mine yet.
Looks really good with the new angle in the pot! Awesome tree!
Thank you Nigel 🙏🌳
The can be only one Bonsai Saunders. Need you to turn around and go back Sir.
Holy cow! I can’t believe you got that much growth in a period of 10 years. That is a spectacular tree.
You really got me with cutting the wrong branch at first haha. You really pulled off the “getting a haircut in the middle of the video” and didn’t think we would notice.
He forgot to say that if you get a haircut during the process, the plant doesn't get depressed about being trimmed up.
My heart almost stood still with nearly everything you did to that tree:D This is such a different approach to treating plant in comparision to tropical plants like I collect.
The level of knowledge, experience and skills is unparalleled.
Highly informative video.

Never too old!
I have watched this video multiple times because it's so instructive in handling a mature portulacaria jade bonsai. Thank you!
😂❤thank you, I have jade plants all my life, but never really made it into a bonsai tree.
I love it, mahalo
This guy provided me with so much straight to the point useful information about my Jade bonsai my brain is swollen. I push that subscribe button so fast it was like an auto pilot move...It was meant to be.

Me 😱😅
Love this tree. Great work.
Thank you! Cheers!
When Mari repotted the cutting ( The branch ) did she just put the branch in soil or did you wait til it rooted? thank you for this video. Love your Jade tree...
Fantastic bonsai
I want some more videos about Jades. Looks really nice
You got it Raimonda!
Nice instant haircut :)
Nice trunk on that one. Mines about the same thickness as the gap between the 1st and 2nd branch.
Absolutely a beautiful tree! Did you put your cutting directly in bonsai soil or in another mix to get the roots to start growing?
Thank you David! Mari planted them directly into bonsai soil
Whoa! Greetings from South Africa.. Very nice specimen 👌🏻👌🏻
Desmond thank you brother 🙏🙂
У вас самый лучший экземпляр портулакарии в мире 👍
Kind of weird about the flowering only in dry climates because I have many Portulacaria Afra here in Phoenix AZ, extremely dry, and I've never seen a flower. Great plant. Leaves taste good imo too! Green apple taste.
Learnt a lot from the video. Especially about not watering soon after repotting
Hey Melvyn, I am happy to hear that the video was helpful.
Wow, that’s beautiful! Thank you!

I gasped when you said you cut the wrong branch.😲😄

I live in Florida and it’s fall now so when is best time to defoliate the jade, mine is about 6 years old and needs better structure design.
