@@sockenpuppe1057That would be awesome. Personally I'd make it so that the door-gunner was something a player had to do instead of an AI, though maybe having AI control be optional could be fun.
My 2 cents to this would be to had a second little bird that acts as a support heli/suppressive gunner for the LZ. A fully AI filled little bird that hovers around providing suppressive fire while the player filled little bird goes in for the landing and drops the players off with some relative protection.
Players will meta the crap out of A.I controlled heli's and doorgunners quickly. Not really a fan of invulnerable A.I, so optional LZ and maybe player controlled helicopters and gunners.

Another fix they could add to balance LZ Camping, besides the ability to shoot while flying, should be to add thermal vision goggles to the helicopter pilot. This way, when you are near the LZ (perhaps within a detection zone of 200 meters from the LZ), he could alert you that he spotted enemies nearby and allow you to choose whether to still land there or to reroute to one of the nearest LZs if you want to avoid direct contact. I honestly think a PVE, Co-op focused game of this type is sorely missing from the industry. With pretty much EVERY single FPS on the market having a heavy focus on PVP in some shape or form, a game where the PVE is actually fleshed out and not just a side game mode or tacked on lazily, would be an awesome niche to actually fill. We already have Tarkov, DayZ, Arma, COD, Rust and many other FPS's for the PVP crowd, it's basically the entirety of the genre, outside of the occasional indie game or singleplayer game, but there is next to nothing offering an extensive PVE in this slower, more methodical form with an emphasis on Cooperation. One of my biggest issues with DayZ is that it often turned into a running through the woods simulator. My concern is this game will be a walking through the jungle simulator.
That's kind of the point though... completely eliminating the "running simulator" aspect would speed up the game and 'Call Of Duty-ify' it even more than it is in respects to other PvPvE looter shooters like EFT. The game in many ways needs to be slow.
yeah that's one of the most polarizing aspects of dayz. you either love it or hate it. On one hand it definitely is a running simulator, but on the other, that's what makes the pvp so engaging. Long periods of peacefulness broken up by intense pvp makes it that much more thrilling. I like the fact it's a running simulator, it makes it feel like actual life and death. I can totally understand why a lot of people don't like it tho.
The big difference with GZW might be how immersive the jungle will feel + more interaction at each POI with AI enemies as opposed to DayZ's more empty-feeling "post-apocalypse" world and very aged graphics
tbh thats what drawed me into dayz alot of the time just running in the woods only to start getting shot at returning fire in the direction turning into a game of cat and mouse
This was one of the best videos I have watched in many years point. I don’t usually touch these types of games or videos but the way you talk, edit and understand the topic you discuss is extremely on point. Well done.
LZ and FOB camping and the real time quests and the zones being marked as hot is a good start IMO, and adding multiple landing spots inside an LZ is a good idea also. There could also be mechanics like: If there are 3 people in a heli, and you see that its being camped (like you spot enemies on your way down), allow a vote 10s before landing, for the heli to peel off before landing. Majority vote or 100% vote. Like "Press F to abort landing 1/3 votes" For FOBs move spawns inside so someone loading into the game first time doesn't just get killed when they load in. The AI in these fobs could also direct the players by telling bearings, to discourage the camping. Like in a scenario where someone camps a FOB, waits for a player to come outside, and shoots them (or any AI). The AI could then relay info based on the shot like "contact bearing 245 - Single/multiple enemies", that would give the upper hand to the players inside the FOB.
I noticed that little stalker PDA sound, you ain't slick Great video, really glad to hear that some of the gameplay issues are looking to be addressed. Love that the devs are active in responding to all resolving feedback in a positive way and I look forward to seeing more of this one going forward!
I think that being able to play the game in multiple ways or in a way you want to play it won't only keep the game fresh, but will attract the attention of more people. If they can keep that a priority I think it will be a great game. Great video!
being able to take over LZ zones would be great, as long as it doesn't become a permanent locked position. Having other locales that you can LZ would help push that in the right direction. That, and being able to call off your infil/exfil based on new intel would be super needed
If faction members could signal when Lz are clear/hot, so you can change Lz or maybe even receive dynamic quests to clear out an Lz that might solve it but I'd also like to see player controlled heli's.
The great thing about the PvP in this is that it is meaningful and over time it will only become more that way. There are gains and losses that are not represented by some UI but experienced by the players on that server, in that faction, and in the fight.
Hey man, I’ve been following your work for a while now. I just wanted to say thank you and that I really appreciate all you do and all of the information you put out here for us to stay informed on what is going on!
I think another additional fix for the helo camping is pretty simple too, a unit on board should be able to audible change LZs to a nearby "backup" LZ if they notice an enemy faction nearby. In addition to being able to shoot from birds. And I think calling a helo in for exfil should be fairly randomized. Maybe when you call in an exfil, it may go to one of the three closest exfils which kinda like tarkov are marked for you as ??? for, 5 minutes. At 2 minutes, you get one LZ that is visible just for the small team that called it in, which could theoretically be away from another group, or near another group, giving it a dynamic will-they-wont-they approach. Still keeps it dynamic with it being a possibility, but not necessarily being a strategy.
It’s releasing dammm too soon imo, ai is clueless, squad quest ain’t even a thing or I missed it idk, such a weird choice to have individual objectives only when u supposed to play in a 4 tactical squad
I like the idea of faction quests, the current implementation of them is just you fending for yourself, i'd really like to see something that makes factions more useful other than having teams in this game, maybe something akin to New Worlds system, where there are capturable locations that give buffs or similar QoL things, making faction wars and settlements that much more than just some fetch quest
I think the fixes they're implementing for EA launch is a good start/temporary placeholder. Those being the ability to shoot from the heli, and a small invuln period when exiting the chopper. But there clearly needs to be more, and less immersion breaking than an invuln period solutions. I feel like the idea of landing in a random spot within an LZ would be a big help. They could even pair that with a big dust cloud being kicked up from the rotor wash of the helis that would conceal a bit of the area for the people landing to get into position to be battle-ready. I like the idea of exiting the heli and having to fight to gain control of the LZ, but from everything I've seen there is no "fight for it" in the build content creators played.
Sounds like it'll be a more hardcore version of battlefield without vehicle warfare. Sneaking off while your fob is under attack and try counter attack the enemy fob
Only played a few hours, recently built a pc and needing a break from COD, this game feel good. In PVE servers, i dont have crazy gear fear, and the no timers allow me to take my time, scout, loot, fight. The loop is satisfying so far and I'm excited to adventure further into the map. I could see it getting stale, but for now i think it's a solid game.
I think it would be cool if you could have like 2-3 designated pilots per faction that would fly the little bird so you don’t have designated LZs and also add a rappel feature so you doing necessarily have to land and to make sure you can’t just fly to the opposing factions add AA that will deter you and maybe a fuel system
I’m with you on this. If they lean into making the game the way you described it will be amazing. Such an awesome blend of mechanics. I’m super excited for this game.
they should do a 75-100m radius of the LZ landing zone. they should be classified as a landing safe zone. force players to be pushed back further if they decide to camp heli zone
If I don't have to worry about the gear death spiral then I will be happy. One of the things that seriously annoyed me in Tarkov was no matter how slow I played, I would get beaned by some luck AF scav shot and then lose thousands of rubles worth of decent gear all the while having no recourse to work my way back up. The time-gated scav mode was and remains crap.
Part of me is thinking that the main HQ should have A.I that are dangerous kind of like in The Division where A.I "Hunters" pose a threat and are headhunters of the PMC team who attacked a F.O.B successfully. That the main HQ's are like a fortress. The deeper you push into the base the harder and much more intense A.I resistance becomes.
literally just make it arma 3 antistasi, add vehicles and random events that could turn into pvp encounters. hvt assassination, convoy ambush, supply retrieval/destruction and make a system around faction control where retrieving supplies gains faction control for you and where maybe killing a foreign asset aligned with an enemy faction decrease their faction control. complex tug o war
Would be cool if they leant into the respawn PVP action and went down the KOTH route. I'd like to see an overall persistent push and pull factional warfare playing out over the course of the campaign style questing they intend to implement. Also, we need player controlled little birds.
Great ideas! The territory control war would be so cool. And there could be tasks related to the logistics of those FOBS, like help transport ammo and weapons to a FOB.
A really cool feature i havent seen much was in sniper elite, you could be playing single player but had an option to allow enemy snipers to join the match on the side of the AI, for a 1v1 catch an mouse type of encounter. maybe an option to spawn as a non pmc, but as one of the AI squad members could be used in very low numbers, so youf still ainly encounter bots, but with a player controlled enemy mixed in every now an again. the uncertainty of bot or player creates unique moments
Good job once again man. It's been great to see you going from a smaller video editor to making such great editorial pieces and turning into a great ambassador for GZW. I discovered the game through you originally and started playing it this morning and i am very excited for what it can become.
Fantastic video. I’d started it before seeing the tweet that the devs were watching it today (the day before EA launch). If the rest of your content is this thorough, I may have to sub!
I would love to see a poll on what direction other people want to see in the game. I think they were going for 2 but with the feedback we probably end up with the 3rd option you suggested
Having a full weather system that completely effects the way you play the game as well as a day / night cycle would be absolutely insane. Having that on top of all that you mentioned could happen + what they want to bring to life in the future makes this game extremely promising to me. I hope it can live up to its expectations
I’m so excited.. this looks like fun and the people you can meet and have these experiences with keeps fueling me.. I can not wait for this game and night time! 😂😂😂
Thanks Riloe! I was on the fence given some of the gameplay i saw, but your take and break down definitely has me convinced. Can't wait to check it out for myself!
Honestly, even something as simple as adding high-tier guards to your base to counter spawn campers is a good sign that the team is really passionate about making the game more fair but keeping things immersive. And that they plan on allowing players to fire from the Little Bird to fight back against LZ campers is awesome. I'm very interested in seeing where this game can go.
Can they add a whistle keybind? Just press a button and your character makes an audible whistle. Having the firing squad dump on a guy and the last thing they heard was a pmc whistle is kinda a funny thing
This was single handedly the best video about GZW. I feel the same on every point you made. Being able to see its potential is huge too. The next few years of GZW could prove to be very enjoyable.
As a tarkov player I've watched dozens of videos of GZW so far and never really saw any reason for such hype, up untill this one. Your editing, storytelling and pacing in this video really opened my eyes to what this game could be, if the devs can keep up with it. Great job!
I honestly have more faith in them than certain other ones.. Although i won't be able to get it at launch (broke boi), i'll be hyped and probably watch every video i can until next paycheck! It's been a while since i was looking forward this much to a new release!
I'll remain skeptical. With the recent debacles of Tarkov and Helldivers 2, I'm not about to waste my time and money on something that looks so cool. I genuinely wish the devs the best and hope I can buy this without it being a scam in the end.
"gameplay loop" is just a tarkov and stalker ripoff when i was a kid i put in like 200+ hours into ghost recons beta with some friends i still remember how much fun it was games just aint the same no more there all repetitive af now
MFG: "In no way ever will there be quests asking you to kill other players" Tarkov streamers: "are you sure about that?" Man, i hate that they're focusing on the PvP so much. As you said the game was never meant or marketed as such, but once the PvP crowd got their hands on exclusively obviously things had to change.. Still gonna buy, probably will find my home on the PvE only servers if PvP is that frequent [and toxic] and not as rare / special as advertised.
The thing is, the random quests to defend your FOB aren’t required. MFG’s design mission was to AVOID “grindy” stuff like Tarkov’s “Setup” where you’re tasked with arbitrary player kills. The FOB raid stuff isn’t in response to players doing it either btw; this is all stuff they always planned.
@@riloegaming yea tbh i've bought and played all day, and if i didn't need some rest now i'd play more despite "typical" launch day" issues etc. I'll 100% stick with the game for the foreseeable future.
I've said this before but this game seems to me like an ultra tactical planetside 2, and I just hope it can capture that feeling because that little hypothetical scenario you thought up is 100% in line with that
Any game that is able to capture that sense of camraderie between players makes PvP so much more fun than soloing (and winning) against a squad ever could be
I feel like this review is dis-honest with how the first few hours of the game feels like. You start off with 3 quests that give you coordinates then every quest after doesn't have them. spent the first 8 hours watching youtube videos for the questing while being stuck in the starter zone. How many quests do i need to leave the first zone? i did 15-20 quests in the time I played, while a random wore our outfit and killed starting players for no monetary benefit for hours. Why can't it just give me quests for every zone after the first 6? why am i stuck following youtube tutorials for 8 hours wondering when i can play the game? The first few hours of a video game are important in my mind as i don't have the motivation to play through the first 30 hours of a video game to finally start to have fun.
I just didn’t do any quests for the 60 hours i played, personally. It’s how i am with all games, i explore and do my own thing for like 100 hours and THEN start following the game’s intended path when I get bored
Man this video was legit fun to watch. I wasnt sure about this game since I personally wasnt a fan of Tarkov but really love the Tactical and openness and freedom of Arma. The AI could then relay info based on the shot like "contact bearing 245 - Single/multiple enemies", that would give the upper hand to the players inside the FOB.
I think a lot of us arma players will be at home playing gzw
Agreed it gives off hard Wasteland/Antistasi vibes
I noticed that little stalker PDA sound, you ain't slick
Great video, really glad to hear that some of the gameplay issues are looking to be addressed. Love that the devs are active in responding to all resolving feedback in a positive way and I look forward to seeing more of this one going forward!
at 10:44 ish I loved the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. PDA notification, gave me a good chuckle. Keep up the amazing content Riloe
Agreed. I have some cool ideas that maybe I’ll thrown into a video!
The timing of the tralier lol
Tried to get this done earlier but I guess it worked out 😅
That STALKER notification sound sent me back! Great vid as always 😎
Me and a buddy played the PVE just to figure things out and we had a blast despite the bugs you could expect from a early release.
Hey man, I’ve been following your work for a while now. I just wanted to say thank you and that I really appreciate all you do and all of the information you put out here for us to stay informed on what is going on!
Thank you for watching!
1:41 " i would instantly log back in" scoped shooting drops to 30s and high 20s FPS lol. Nah man were just different
I think the devs have been doing a great job so far. It is absolutely possible to walk this line and the FOB Ai is a great example of this.
Sounds like it'll be a more hardcore version of battlefield without vehicle warfare. Sneaking off while your fob is under attack and try counter attack the enemy fob
This is such a great advertisement!
Idk why but I want the enemy AI to have F.E.A.R levels of complexity
lmao why isnt there any water physics when you walk over the creeks
Only played a few hours, recently built a pc and needing a break from COD, this game feel good. In PVE servers, i dont have crazy gear fear, and the no timers allow me to take my time, scout, loot, fight. The loop is satisfying so far and I'm excited to adventure further into the map. I could see it getting stale, but for now i think it's a solid game.
if they can fix the very common rubberbanding i would play more.
This video is like a movie! Keep up the hard work Riloe!
Man, if your vision was the direction they took this… this game would break records
I demand AI as ferocious and numerous (actually, more numerous) as players, as you would expect of real human beings.
There are WAYYYYYYYYY more AI than players, something like 1000+ active AI per server at a given time.
So like a Walmart at peak hours? Yeah!
literally just make it arma 3 antistasi, add vehicles and random events that could turn into pvp encounters. hvt assassination, convoy ambush, supply retrieval/destruction and make a system around faction control where retrieving supplies gains faction control for you and where maybe killing a foreign asset aligned with an enemy faction decrease their faction control. complex tug o war
Would be cool if they leant into the respawn PVP action and went down the KOTH route. I'd like to see an overall persistent push and pull factional warfare playing out over the course of the campaign style questing they intend to implement. Also, we need player controlled little birds.
Arma 3 KOTH is still one of the best Games/Game Modes ever. That with the weapon mechanics and graphics of such a modern game would be insane.
NICE SCENARIO IN THE END, IT WILL BE FIRE
Holy crap the situation you described that could be if they turn it that direction would literally be AMAZING
Great ideas! The territory control war would be so cool. And there could be tasks related to the logistics of those FOBS, like help transport ammo and weapons to a FOB.
oh man… when you started playing the cycle frontier music in the background at the 3 minute mark i got nostalgic chills. i miss that game man. :(
There is no fucking way they didnt make it so that those ai dont drop their gear. Holy shit these devs man
Great breakdown Riloe! I hope they can figure out how to tow the pvp line like you suggested.
A really cool feature i havent seen much was in sniper elite, you could be playing single player but had an option to allow enemy snipers to join the match on the side of the AI, for a 1v1 catch an mouse type of encounter. maybe an option to spawn as a non pmc, but as one of the AI squad members could be used in very low numbers, so youf still ainly encounter bots, but with a player controlled enemy mixed in every now an again. the uncertainty of bot or player creates unique moments
thats just scavs from eft
Every time I watch a video from you, I'm always enthralled by your editing like its really good.
Thanks!
Nice breakdown. For the quality of streamers that got access I was expecting more in depth videos like this one.
3:16 Yeah Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands was amazing legendary game since in 2017AD!
I would love to see a poll on what direction other people want to see in the game. I think they were going for 2 but with the feedback we probably end up with the 3rd option you suggested
Just hope they can pull it off as the concept it great and your suggestions sounds awesome
Having a full weather system that completely effects the way you play the game as well as a day / night cycle would be absolutely insane.
Having that on top of all that you mentioned could happen + what they want to bring to life in the future makes this game extremely promising to me.
I hope it can live up to its expectations
Watch my interview with the CEO if you haven’t!
@@riloegamingI did almost right after I sent this. Your videos are great man.
I’m re-watching this one because I enjoyed it so much
The dead Fob Guards laying there all together on the floor remindes me of the old Rogue Farming on Lighthouse 😂
10:37 Stalker reference? 😱
Great video. I agree with your balancing philosophy!
Calling in your team sounds exactly what everyone was pissed about with the unheard edition
Completely different style of game to tarkov lol.
Game looks cool and all but seems like way too much jungle.. would be nice if there are some big urban areas and open areas with less trees.
Dude your videos are genuinely the best well written I’ve seen
Thanks!
I honestly think they should go the Arma route rather than EFT.
Arma Wasteland, KOTH and other game mods are great, but its janky...
As a tarkov player I've watched dozens of videos of GZW so far and never really saw any reason for such hype, up untill this one. Your editing, storytelling and pacing in this video really opened my eyes to what this game could be, if the devs can keep up with it. Great job!
Thank you! It’s gonna be super different than Tarkov if they get it right which is a good thing.
Imagine you can land in the middle of the forest with rope landing
I honestly have more faith in them than certain other ones..
Although i won't be able to get it at launch (broke boi), i'll be hyped and probably watch every video i can until next paycheck!
It's been a while since i was looking forward this much to a new release!
dude your video quality is always on top! keep up the good work!!!
Cheers!
I love your video essay design c: I like your conclusions too.
Great feedback and ideas. I hope to see them realised
You summed up A LOT my feelings as well. Can't wait to play TOMORROW!!!
Time True
I agree about the bird thing. Players being able to shoot while in ride. Same for relocate a bird call .
Honestly for the ride in if it were a uh60 you came in on with door guns would also be a way to go maybe fast rope in even
I'll remain skeptical. With the recent debacles of Tarkov and Helldivers 2, I'm not about to waste my time and money on something that looks so cool. I genuinely wish the devs the best and hope I can buy this without it being a scam in the end.
Great Video
Thank you!!
"gameplay loop" is just a tarkov and stalker ripoff when i was a kid i put in like 200+ hours into ghost recons beta with some friends i still remember how much fun it was games just aint the same no more there all repetitive af now
MFG: "In no way ever will there be quests asking you to kill other players"
Tarkov streamers: "are you sure about that?"
Man, i hate that they're focusing on the PvP so much.
Hunt Showdown is a game I adore a lot and everytime I get back into it I lose myself 100´s of hours to it. Think I might pick it up now.
I´d love to hear your take on Hunt Showdown, especially with the new Engine supposedly dropping this year.
Will be super excited to check that out. Hunt was my first major PC game
