AFTERBUZZ TV -- Dancing with the Stars edition, is a weekly "after show" for fans of ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Dancing with the Stars is a reality show airing on ABC in the United States. I love Mark, he's so thoughtful of other people but yet still gives constructive criticism that makes sense. I agreed with everything he said. Also Suri, you did such a good job taking over Kristyn's place this episode! I would guess it's not an easy job lol

Sometimes I feel like I don't fully appreciate how hard the celebrities and pro are working until I hear it from you guys. For example the discussion for Noah and Sharna and Mark and Willow was humbling to hear. Also, really great hearing all the detailed comments from Mark that I would have never known otherwise. Keep bringing in knowledgeable and personable guest like him guys. Love it.
I agree with Mark about the live streaming of a pro rehearsal! I would LOVE to see that. Great show!!! Mark is a joy to listen to. :-)

The insights that Mark Ballas brought to this show were absolutely amazing. I'm betting Kristyn Burtt wishes she could have been there, but Suri, you did a great job and asked some great questions to allow Mark to share as much as he did. Utterly fantastic!

I love Shawn. She was honestly fun to watch on the show, and very genuine, and I love how Mark is with his partners, always praising and kind and sentimental. It's sweet.
I just submitted a review on iTunes but I had to repost coz I just loved this episode so much: "Omg! So I never knew about this show until this season. I’m such a big fan of DWTS and this is such a great way to keep the show going longer throughout the week coz let’s be honest, we can’t WAIT for Mondays!!! I loved loved loved the recent episode with Mark Ballas!!! It’s so great to hear insights from a pro who is currently involved in the show with all the backstage tidbits and things that go on during rehearsals during the week. Please keep the current pros coming!!!!!! It’s the reason why I watch DWTS and I bet viewership of AfterBuzz will get even higher if they were regularly featured on the show. And Shirley Ballas too!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Also love Anna Trebunskaya…although I actually like her more on DWTS’ All Access because I feel she uses some unnecessary ways of describing the stars like comparing them to animals etc. Still love her though and the entire show :) :) :)"
Mark is so kind. I love the insight he gives onto the relationships behind the scenes, and also how supportive he was for Allison, and also Peta/Michael, and Keo especially because they've had some rough times to deal with.
The solidarity in this cast is strong, and I love that.

LOVED having Mark on the show! Actually any of the Ballas. He's so well spoken and offers great insight to the behind the scenes. Plus, I loved when his British accent would come through
so fantastic to get Mark's perspective. A fave of mine on DWTS.
Such a great show mark is by far my favourite pro on the show always love his creativity & choreography so was great getting to hear what he had to say. Especially getting the behind the scenes insight into how Willow works and her determination I'm really excited to see them go far & what we have to look forward to.
Other than Mark 7 Willow my favourites would have to be Riker & Allison they have such a charisma about them with their chemistry & I look forward to their routines every week just.
As much as I like both of them I have a feeling that Suzanne or Michael could be in danger of going but you just never know with this show gets harder to predict every season.
Really enjoyable show! Missed our fearless leader, Kristyn, but Suri did a fantastic job. And Mark B. needs to find time to drop in at least once a season as he had great comments and gave such fun insights into the Pro's POV about the show. Big round of applause to you all!
I like Riker's Androgeny. I think he pulls it off. He's got that glam rock vibe. I don't think he needs to take his shirt off either. Its all about the power of the dance with him

Can anyone give an example where he is less masculine in his salsa? I noticed it more in his samba.
Another excellent show, guys! It was great to get some insight from Mark himself.
My current front runners are Rumer & Val, Riker & Allison, and Willow & Mark. Rumer is solid. In my opinion, it's her game to lose. Riker really surprised me this week. His movements are sharp and precise, with a good amount of proper salsa flavoring in it. Willow is visibly improving, and she is a fast learner, which helps a lot.
Honorable mentions: I was caught off-guard by Robert & Kym this week. Robert was strong and supportive, and he was right on the beat. Noah & Sharna's Argentine Tango was simply breath-taking. He doesn't need that arm, the arm would've only gotten in the way.
Suri you killed it as lead host this week! High five girl. And after years of watching the show, how did I not notice Mark slipping in&out his british accent until now? Lol He was a great guest.

Mark is so awesome! It was nice to hear all of this insider information from him. I really wish the celebrities could listen to this criticism so they can improve their dancing. What he said about Shawn Johnson was so funny :)

Mark you really won me over. You came across, relaxed, honest, a good guy. I agree one of the best guests ever. As to the show I love Riker, Willow, Rumer and the gymnast.
Love that Mark owned up to being guilty about being irritated about the judges' critiques. Agreed that all pros are guilty of that as well.
Mark was an amazing guest. One of the best. Loved his constuctive criticisms and his love for the entire cast. Great job Suri. Though I didn't agree with a lot of what Anna said.

My take on the remaining couples:
Ps. it seems like everyone is very dedicated so I will not mention it again.
1. Noah- due to his disability, he has the creative edge. However, because of his disability, he is limited as to the type of techniques he can do. I highly doubt the judges will be too hard on him about that though.
2. Robert- His strength is that he is a fast learner and can move VERY WELL for his age. His technique is surprisingly good as well. His weakness is his flexibility and transitions. He loves to dance and his enthusiasm is infectious.
3. Pattilabelle- She has the performance factor down. And she has a certain elegance about her. However, limited in her ability.
4. Nastia- great transitions and flexibility that most other contestants lack. However, her weakness is that she seems to have the least connection with her partner and experienced great difficulty in emotional delivery.
5. Ryker- good stamina and is surprisingly flexible. He is also a great performer. I think he can spend time and try to make each move more precise and complete. His biggest weakness is his partnership with Allison. They have great chemistry, but Allison always goes all out and it is difficult for a non-dancer to compete with that.
6. Willow- The dark horse of the competition. It is easy to see that she has a great deal of natural talent and with her young age, I can see her improving leaps and bounds. I guess compared to the other contestants, her weakness is probably her nerves.
7. Suzanne Somers- She has a very natural sense of rythmn and seems to enjoy performing. Her biggest impediment would be her age and thus, stamina.
8. Chris soules- Chris has stamina, but he struggles with rhythm. He can also allow his nerves to get the best of him at points. However, he does have a lot of charisma.
9. Rumer- The front runner of the group. Not much to pick on other than the fact that her transitions and flexibility can improve. Her biggest impediment is probably also her nerves because she is a perfectionist.
That was long but I don't care because MARK!!! Great show. I loved the panel.
I loved Val & Rumer, Allison & Riker and Mark & Willow's routines. During Derek & Nastia's footage I couldn't stop thinking "Man... does this guy ever take vacations?", and yeah props to Henry too. They were awesome though. Noah & Sharna were great too.
And I adore Keo but that was one unsexy rumba. It kinda piss me off because it was danced by two really sexy people.
Also I want to be Patti when I'm older.
Really enjoyed the show today and the commentary about the performances.
As for Len's score for Riker, perhaps Len is judging him as a former Latin competitive dancer? He competed against troupe members Brittany and Lindsey as Ryker Lynch, with his sister at the Junior level. He was evidently good enough to win a competition or two and placed top 10 or top 20 for the others. Didn't continue with his competitive Latin efforts, but perhaps, it should be acknowledged, rather than pretend it doesn't exist. IOW, yes, someone who has a competitive Latin background should be judged at a different standard than one who doesn't have that experience?
FreeState Yank I didn't know Riker competed in the Latin dances before he was on Dancing With the Stars. He was still my favorite from that season so I don't really care a couple of years later.
Really great episode. Willow and Riker are definately in my case, the frontrunners. Chris did such an amazing job and like you guys said, it shows how much he wants to be in the competition. He was so hard on himself. I felt bad for Michael and Peta, it was obvious that those werent the scores they were aiming for and i really hope that next week they will be better.
I'm caught off guard every time Mark's accent slips out. Haha.
I got 18 mins in and I swear Mark’s English accent came out of nowhere, I know his mum is English and his dad isn’t and he’s moved so his accent obviously is a mixture of multiple. But I’d never heard it so strongly before and it really shocked me.

I liked the show all the way til Anna started discrediting Derek. She's obviously jealous or something, idk. She should just stop saying things that are NOT true at all. Yes, Henry is helping when Derek can't rehearse but he's not dancing with Nastia half the time! he also doesn't help with the choreo, that's all Derek's work as well as cleaning up.

Yeah when it comes to Suzanne Somers the judges were being very enthusiastic on her dance for whatever reason which I don't get and I find it troubling that sporadically the judges tend to have a biased inclination of certain celebs that a lot of people such as Anna and myself who judge people specifically on the dance which what the judges should be focusing on apparently.
Great job, Suri! I really enjoy Kristyn, Suri and Jake on this show. Mark was a fun addition today.
Why is Nastia fair game for nitpicking, but Rumer and Riker are not? It was clear from the first episode Rumer had previous training and the evidence is out there that Riker competed Latin Dance years ago. It's tough for a gymnast to lose years of muscle memory. Every week, her routines being put under a microscope and it is getting hard to watch.
Anna is such a hypocrite! The first week with Gethin she was all "I love Derek! He pushes everyone to work harder!" Now she never misses a chance to get a dig in at him. I understand she's bitter over losing Season 10 to him, but geez, get over it Anna! You sound so bitter!
***** According to Nastia herself, Henry spends more time dancing with Nastia than many Derek fans seem to think, he is also helping her to improve her techniques & polishing her dancing. Of course Derek is still doing most of the work, he still choreographs the dances and teaches them to Nastia, he is still doing most of the training. BUT Henry plays a significant role too in her journey, he is still rehearsing with her sometimes for a few days each week, and helping her to improve and polishing her dancing. Henry's job is bigger than many Derek fans think, and it's more work than the troupe dancers usually do. I can understand the frustration that many Derek fans have about people 'exaggerating' Henry's involvement, considering him to be Nastia's "other partner". BUT there has also been alot of Derek fans 'downplaying' Henry's involvement, Henry does more work helping Nastia & Derek than many Derek fans think.

Henry is helping Nastia improve on her techniques & helping to polish her dancing, yes Derek still guides them over the phone sometimes, but Henry is training her too to a much lesser extent, he help polishes her dancing. I doubt Nastia would be able to dance as well as she has without all the help from Henry also. Henry also rehearses with her for a few days each week, whether Derek fans like it or not, Henry is still a significant part of Nastia's journey. And yes, the troupe help the other pros all the time, but what Henry is doing is more work than the troupe are usually used to doing. The troupe typically help the other pros for just one-time random jobs. But what Henry is doing is more than that, rehearsing with Nastia every week is a weekly commitment for Henry, he has to rehearse with her every week, polish her dancing etc. Do you seriously believe that Nastia would be able to dance as well as she has without all the help from Henry too? Jeez, you Derek fans have been downplaying Henry's role too much. Can't you Derek fans be grateful and give Henry some credit where he deserves instead of discrediting all his efforts & hardwork in helping Nastia. I seriously doubt Nastia would've performed as well as she has without Henry's help too. As a troupe member, Henry is already very busy and now on top of all his other work, he has to help Nastia every week too, and he's working very hard each week to help her while juggling all his other work too,
Whether Derek fans like it or not, Henry is still partially responsible for Nastia's overall performances & improvements, so give Henry some credit! Jeez. You Derek fans are so ungrateful.
I personally did not understand why everyone was so hard on Charlotte. Perhaps it is because I am not a dance expert by any means, but I did not see any glaring errors that would prevent me from enjoying the performance. I thought Charlotte was successful in portraying the emotion for the rumba, but nobody applauded her for that. While I do agree that she could have been more dedicated in rehearsal, I feel like people are still slightly harder on her because of her physical attributes.
which type of dancing does he perform? is it hip hop or jazz?

If Derek isn't spending the amount of time with Nastia that he should be and that she deserves, then he doesn't deserve to win. I feel for her.

I think it is because he has an English mother and an American father. He spent a lot of his life in the UK so has that mix of the British and American accents.
